Swallow the Sun have got to my favourite doom metal band along with Draconian. RIP Aleah Starbridge who you saw in this video - the vocals actually belong to Anette Olzon (ex Nightwish). Aleah, however, does beautiful vocals on Heartstrings Shattering, and on all of the Trees of Eternity songs, my absolute favourite: The Passage. But yes, you need DRACONIAN! Stellar Tombs is a good start.

One of my favorite bands. Swallow the Sun have incredible range, everything from beautiful, folk-infused melancholia (disk two of Songs from the North), to the most crushingly heavy doom/death. And, for a while, Kai was their drummer. In a strange twist of bad luck, I managed to see both Wintersun and StS when Kai wasn't touring with them.
@@Enochulator All I'm saying is I'd pick Esoteric over Swallow The Sun if I'm in the mood for Funeral Doom, but STS's Funeral Doom stuff is still a 9.5/10
The dark-haired gal seen in the video is Aleah Stanbridge, who passed away from cancer before her Trees Of Eternity album was released back in 2016. She is also the gal on the cover of the Swallow The Sun - Songs From The North album.

Just saw Swallow the Sun for the 6th time this past Wednesday evening. it was wonderful seeing them perform 'Cathedral Walls', 'The Void' off their new album, 'New Moon', 'Descending Winters', and 'Swallow (Horror Pt. 1)' 🖤
