Spoilers for number 1: There’s one other thing they forgot to mention with King Dedede. His actions in smash Brothers brawl. More specifically subspace emissary. When he first shows up, he’s acting like an antagonist taking out Luigi, but then tricking Wario to then grab Ness and Peach? Making you wonder what he’s up to. Then you get to the scene that only in hindsight really elevates his character. He starts placing what look like badges with his face on them as some sort of vanity thing onto the trophies. But once he notices that he’s one short, he looks at the one that he has on. Sighs, and then remove it, placing it on Peach. And like I said, it’s only with hindsight that you realize what just happened once the true villain is revealed and he one-shots everybody. The badges on Ness, Luigi, and Kirby. (who, after a series of events was the one who ended up secretly taking the badge from Peach) Activates, reviving them. Essentially king Dedede may have enacted another one of his half baked plans. But it was the Hail Mary pass that ended up saving the world. And the scene between him and Bowser. Freaking Bowser shows just how much the hammer swinging penguin had improved from the person he was in the original game.
From what I also remember from part of the script that got cut, King Dedede was also part of the Subspace Army and was the reason Meta Knight lost control of the Halberd. But upon learning about Tabuu, King Dedede quietly left the villain group to enact the plan with his Revive Badges as a fail safe to stop Tabuu.
Christian kirbo. Meta knight. King dedede. Ribbon. All the bad guys in the pause screen lore. The magic wizard. Forgotten lands. Terra forming company. All just fantastic.
Kirby is just such an inviting character. On the surface he's just a guy who likes to eat, sleep and make friends but then you look deeper....you find the same thing but it works for him. With Kirby, what you see is what you get. A determined friendly pink circle. It's so hard to just look at him and not smile. I love that Kirby's this endless beacon of positivity. Willing to help strangers in need. Quick to forgive and break bread with people who still very obviously want him dead or have been enemies in the past. He just doesn't know any better and will treat anyone who isn't attacking him like they've been homies for life. That's funny. That's cute. That's...Kirby. People like to talk about how he's just so damn strong and....he is but I've always appreciated how these world ending stakes have never weighed on his simple mind too heavily. That is some god-like being awakened from centuries ago wanting the destruction of all life. That's a guy that is stopping eating sleeping and friendship and now must be terminated. It's been said time in and time out but the person who cares the least about the lore surrounding Kirby is titular character. Never stop being the charming pink gumball you are little guy.
I saw that robot dog episode again earlier this year. I hate yet am very impressed by the fact that that damn episode still managed to make me cry years after i first saw it.

We got a KING at Number 1, and that legendary hammer-wielding penguin EARNED it. I still do get annoyed at the possessed trope sometimes, but I guess that's a better idea than retconning his redemption arc while still making bossfights with him
I really like how Shaman and Josh describe Kirby as the video game equivalent of Superman at his finest. Of course DeDeDe the infinite one is always a blast to watch.
I'm glad to see more people being into the characters of Kirby. I feel most people tend to overlook them because the games on their own are fairly simple

Meta Knight is definetly my favorite Kirby charachter. Its just really impressive how H.A.L managed to make charachter that is formed like a ball so cool looking.

Speaking of the Mage Sisters… Every time I hear more about their traumatic backstories, the more they always point me towards the leviathans of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. It gets even more shocking because I looked around the leviathan bones and pointed some obvious discoveries that correlate to the Mage Sisters. Eldin Great Skeleton - a Great Flameblame is found inside the skull, and a set of four rocks forming a circle is found outside the vertebrae of rib cage… It was no Korok puzzle… Such stones in that sort of formation can indicate the site where someone died… Hebra Great Skeleton - inside a cave at the base of the North Hebra Summit. If you exit the cave, you come across a snowfield where an inactive Guardian lies in wait to ambush Link, in Tears of the Kingdom, where the Guardian was is replaced with rubble from the sky islands when the Upheaval occurred… guarded by a Frost Gleeok… Why was that spot significant? Hm? Gerudo Great Skeleton - In Breath, it was the site of a shrine and a fairy fountain. Surrounding the bud are Fire, Ice, and Electric Safflinas… Sound familiar? In Tears, not only was this leviathan now located in a cave where it once stood upon, but we realize it had a child that died with it… Exiting the cave will lead you to the Lightning Temple, an ancient towering structure where the Gerudo Sage of Lightning hid her Secret Stone… where Queen Gibdo is fought twice. The roof of the temple has rubble with rocks that contain rare stones that Link can collect in his inventory. And think for a moment… a towering structure in a land associated with lightning… The Dark Skeletons… Nobody knows the exact nature of these monstrous fossils… aside from being Gloom Spawn habitats and the where the Hero of the Wild set can be found… they all appear identical to each other… not to mention the Phantom Ganon that appears at the Gerudo Dark Skeleton is equipped with a spear… beneath a land associated with lightning… the other two had swords… The Depths are Tears’ most dangerous location. Evil is everywhere… Not to mention… The shocking resemblance of Francisca to Nayru. More specifically her 2D sprite model in Oracle of Ages. Flamberge having a fang (at least judging from fan art) like a certain humanoid demon, and Zan having the undying loyalty to Hyness. Undying loyalty… That’s more of a Sheikah trait… Sheikah to Hylia, Yiga to Ganon. With all this in mind… Was there a connection between the Mage Sisters and the leviathans of Hyrule?
Man, Adeleine got done so dirty here. She appears in all the number segments, but doesn't even get an honorable mention. I love Adeleine so much because, minding the paint brush she wields with a limitless supply of paint that creates animate objects, she's really just a plain, regular old human who happens to be stranded in the chaotic universe of Kirby, and she's seemingly the only one left to boot. She's such a sweet, kind, and precious person which really makes me feel for her and the situation she's in. I also love when we get to explore Shiver Star and see what was probably her old home, a desolate Earth suffering a permanent state of post-apocalyptic winter, nobody else like Adeleine in sight. It's just a shame that she has so few appearances. I attribute that lack of appearances to her exclusion from the anime on the grounds that Sakurai didn't want human characters to show up in it, the creatives taking that as them needing to leave behind Adeleine, and that decision likely single-handedly kneecapping her ability to appear in games for such a long time. I only hope that now, in a post-Star Allies world, whenever Hal decides to make another new Kirby game that starts bringing back more stuff from previous games (I'm happy with Forgotten Land being the way it is even regarding all this because that game was clearly meant to be made up of mostly original content and only a small handful of old material) that they give Adeleine another chance. Yes, she's my favorite character in the Kirby series, just in case you couldn't tell by now.
I'd Argue DaRoach is just a straight Rogue, in 5e thirteenth level Thief Rogues can the ability to use magic items and ignores any additional rules for attuning to magic items and all of his magic if I recall comes from the magic items and nothing he does. Therefore he is a 13th level thief rogue
The Smash Bro’s player in my approves of number 1. Also they have the best hardcore theme in the series, whether it’s their 2nd phase in Triple Delxue or their first encounter in Forgotten Land, their song slaps harder than it should and I love it for it.

With nothing but a WOODEN BASEBAL BAT!!! *A! WOODEN! BASEBALL BAT!!!!!*

She still uses extreme measures to ensure the supposed peace, so the context is still more or less the same. The translation doesn't bring up that she's trying to bring peace, but we did.
I've got a soft spot for Shadow Kirby. Throughout Amazing Mirror he looks like he's going to be another antagonist. However, by the time you're fighting Dark Mind he'll either give you healing items or return Meta Knight's sword. The post-credits reveal he was never really evil, he just saw regular Kirby and assumed the worst. His return in Triple Deluxe was... odd. Between a radically different design and being a lot more aggressive, we didn't even know he was the same character until Fighters 2 gave him a nice mix of the two designs. Said game also gives a reason for suddenly turning hostile in Triple Deluxe: he didn't. He may not be evil, but he's not above pranks.
The ending to Dedede's Revenge from Superstar Ultra was *the* moment where he earned my complete and utter respect. First we got him telling bandana dee to escape the castle before Kirby's rampage crosses his path, and Bandana Dee stays. Hell, even after Kirby kicks his ass, he finds his way to the arena to cheer for Dedede. And then the credits. You *cannot* tell me, that Dedede is a horrible king when all those dees are still willing to follow him after his defeat. And the smile he gives when they start appearing is so heart warming.
Let's never forget one part of what makes Magalor a famous Kirby character and thats a certain famous voice if you know what I'm refering to you know exacly how much you laughed at that sudden betrayal voice
I remember when Forgotten Land first released, and everyone was shooting murder glances at Elfilin, expecting him to backstab us like every other Kirby character in the past few games. But for me, I had faith that he would still be on our side. He’s just so lovable and helpful, wanting to do everything to help protect the Waddle Dees. It warmed my heart when I realized that by the end, he was never gonna be the villain, my faith finally kept in tact.
A friend of mine was saying that this was probably the best outcome since he was PART of the ultimate villain but was also our friend, so it made theorists on both sides happy
Kirby characters are just made for pure love and joy, with some heldrich horror backstory to give it a nice twist! I love Kirby and his friends, and I can't wait to see what adventures they’ll go on next!
A cool detail about Meta Knight’s character in forgotten land, he actually takes on the role of protector of Waddle Dee town whenever Kirby’s away. Remember Goromando, the giant gorilla? Meta Knight had to fend him off 30 times! And he won every single time!

The fun thing I think about Dedede's Development is in Star Allies, he's brought into the plot by stealing food, and the game explicitly says this isn't something he would do You know a character's come a long way if the first thing they were introduced doing is considered an Out of Character moment
On top of Kirby being a father. He also befriended the one snowman that shows up in all the games. Like he befriended a snowman that was an assassin, and his friendship with him made him not only turn against king DDD but also his creator. Leading to his death and the episode ends showing yes he's DEAD.
The D man got it. Was there really any doubt. I think he has the most notable character growth in the series, actually trying to be a good enough King to the land he barged into and proclaimed a monarchy in. Plus I don't think people give anime Dedede enough credit. A lot of fans credit him for the misconception of him still being a villain which....yes the anime doesn't really help but not only is he just funny, he also does have some character to him. Multiple episodes showcase how Dedede is more of a manchild who craves attention, usually taking it to the extreme because he has the money and power to do so. That "crying at Kirby's funeral" episode has the context of everyone getting a dedicated day of appreciation and gifts. Dedede tries his hardest to get his own but literally no one likes him for obvious reasons. Even when Kirby, quite literally the only person there who likes him comes with a gift in the form of a watermelon, Dedede sees it as a prank because it was eaten by someone who should not be trusted with food gifts. The King, as usual, blows it out of proportion which leads to the prank discussed in the video. Funny thing is, while it was a bunch of bomb watermelons, Dedede is fully banking on Kirby surviving even trying to get a gift for him from N.M.E. Dedede's actions were, in every way possible, just a prank bro. I'm not saying anime Dedede is necessarily a good person or developed character, he does kinda go back to his scheming ways every episode and this idea of him just wanting people to acknowledge him never gets expanded, but I will say he was probably the most entertaining thing about Right Back at Ya for many reasons. Another W for the king if you ask me.
I hope Hal makes a future Kirby game that finally reveals, explore and develop the franchise's biggest mysteries. Like a secret origin for Kirby, the Ancients, bigger stakes with more daring consequences, more epic boss battles in the same level as Magolor and Fecto Elfilis, and so on.
If I can add in on Susie's story, Max Haltmann was constantly using Star Dream to bring her back from the dead, which failed due to her not actually dying. All of the constant use ofcthe artificial clockwork star did damage to his mind, making him forget his daughter almost entirely until it was way too late (when his mind ans soul was absorbedby Star Dream). Also, that "teach him a lesson" and "mechanize planets" were semi-mistranslations, actually saying her wish was to "make him (her dad) wake up (come to his senses) with tears in his eyes" and what she was doing after KPR was turning HAL works co. into a better company, giving happier lives to the planets in its care... and exterminate the 'uncivilized'.
I take the "teaching him a lesson" part as a subtext that's meant to be read between, with the meaning behind it being, as you said "waking him up". It's less obvious, but I think figuring that out is part of what makes it so cool.
Galacta Knight also needs a mention here. Mix the tragedy of Taranza, the existential horror of Haltmann, the madness of Marx and the power capable of defeating Void Termina and you have the strongest warrior in the universe... ... who also hates his own existence. Galacta Knight is implied to be either one of the Four Heroes or the creator of the Heart Spears. Either way, he was a big deal back when he was a good guy since he was instrumental in the defeat of Void Termina. Unfortunately, an unknown incident caused him to go absolutely insane, wiping out several planets in his rampage forcing (presumably) Hyness and the other Ancients to lock him away beyond space and time. The problem is that he was _conscious_ the whole time and between that horrifying existence and the madness he's been struggling with for eons, he kinda wanted to die, but he was freaking strong that it really was not possible as instead of death, he just gets put in the crystal. In fact, his desire to be put out of his misery was so strong that in a What If scenario, it attracted the Butterfly of Sukhavati causing it to absorb him out of pity. And if Shinya Kumazaki's words in the _Super Kirby Clash_ interview are anything to go by, Galacta Knight will come back in a big way in a future entry. Galacta Knight is one of only two characters who are my favorite in their respective verses that I want dead out of mercy. The other being Itachi Uchiha.
Honestly: Thought it was gonna be either Magolor or Dedede at number 1. Frankly, it could have gone either way. For a relatively simple series, we get some truly wonderful characters.
You got something a bit wrong with the Mage Sisters, namely the ending for the extra story. It doesn't just stay with them dead like that but if you look carefully, you'll see a dark aura appear around them all while an ominous sound plays as it does. And those of us Kirby veterans may recognize that sound from Kirby 64 if you got the bad ending where the fairy queen, after waving bye to Kirby and co., glances over at Ribbon with an evil glare.
It’s kind of interesting that how in the Top 10 Sonic characters, a very powerful copy bot was number 4 and in this favorite list, a copy character (the main character and a powerful one at that) also made it to number 4. And they are my favorite characters from their respective series.
Fun Fact: Plus Zelda and Sonic Month, the #4 are all the ones I passionately candidated for the list. Emerl for Sonic and Linebeck for Zelda. Originally, I was expecting Susie to be #4 on this list since she falls into that category, but the writers agreed to bump her up to #2 because of her complexity, so Kirby is #4 instead, yet in a way, it still works out since he too is my boy.
POYO!!!! Throughout the series Kirby has some very interesting characters ranging from the friendly animal companions, tough rivals that occasionally become allies, and of course the beings are nightmare inducing with terrifying lore behind them. Looking forward to seeing which ones will be mentioned.

Technically they were partially right. Elfillin is part of the twist and final boss. The only problem is that he literally is the body's conscious given form.
My honorable mentions: The Ancients (Various) Who they are or what they are, nobody seems to know. All we do know is that they are responsible for most of the franchise’s mysterious lore. Animal Friends (Kirby’s Dreamland 2 and 3) Rick the hamster, Kine the fish, Coo the owl, Nago the cat, Chuchu the octopus, and Pitch the bird. All equally adorable and ready to aid Kirby in his adventures. Escargoon (Kirby Right Back At Ya) Dedede’s right hand snail who’s always eager to help out in whatever crazy scheme the king’s got cooking up. BTW, he’s of the few characters from the anime who made a brief appearance in the games, specifically the Kirby Quest minigame in Mass Attack. The Kirby Species (Various) Turns out that Kirby’s not the only powerhouse puffball in Dreamland. Leongar And Clawroline (Kirby And The Forgotten Land) Rulers of the animal kingdom who became tragic victims of Fecto Forgo.
Dedede is such a great character, as was mentioned guy was willing to sacrifice him self for a Waddle Dee which is instant respect from me. A King who is willing to sacrifice them self for their subjects is the kind of King I woudn't be opposed to working under
Since it looks like Daroach is using items, I don't think he multi-classed, since in older editions of D&D high level Rogues could also use/unlock magical items, not just casters
Here are my favorite characters in the franchise. 1. Meta Knight. I always thought he was cool whether in the animated series, in his boss fights or as a playable character in Smash Bros. 2. King Dedede. Always an enjoyable villain either for his comedic side or for his fun boss fights. 3. Magolor. I still love his twist and his boss fight in Return to Dreamland. Especially since he was rather good at manipulating the heroes.

I swear…I still get a SatAM Robotnik vibe from Haltmann with the mechanization of planets. Wait…does that make Suzie the Kirby universe version of Sage?
A character I'd like to bring more attention to is Hyness. In my opinion, he's quietly one of the best villains this series has had. A once genuinely good man who acted as a quasi-father figure to the Mage Sisters he saved, whose mind eventually cracked after the suffering he and his people endured in the years since the Ancients banished them in fear of their power. In his desperation to bring justice and peace to his shattered & forgotten clan, he turned to faith in Void, a being he saw as a God after a dream (the director explained that last point in an interview outside of the game). Sadly, the bitterness in his heart consumed him (figuratively and literally), and his plan to revive Void became less about finding peace for his people and more about smiting the universe that abandoned them in his eyes. In this mad state, he even neglected his love for the Mages and began abusing them, to the point of using their unconscious bodies as freaking clubs! Only Kirby could leave me optimistic about the future of a person who had gone _that_ far down the deep end. With Hyness seemingly having regained his senses thanks to the Friend Hearts and Kirby's compassion, I'm extremely curious as to what he'll do and how he'll behave in a less antagonistic role. I really hope he and the Mage Sisters return in a future game (not counting cameos or stage hazards in Kirby Fighters 2), though knowing this series, that's probably only a matter of time.

Bowser, Eggman, Neo Cortex, and other villains: Hesitantly and begrudgingly helps the hero when the need arises. King Dedede: Doesn’t hesitate or think twice when it comes to helping Kirby and saving the universe. Thus protecting his people, earning their respect, and being heralded a hero alongside Kirby instead of just second place from him. Dedede knows how to be a hero, he just lets his ego and grudge against Kirby get in the way when Dreamland isn’t in danger.
24:15 I feel like I figured out why Edelgard went down the quick was route instead of doing the more methodical way. She was low on time, like Lysithea before her, she was short on years and decided to get things done while she's still alive. Is it morally correct? Far from it, I'm sure if it were up to her, she would've done it the proper way of bringing the empire to a more self-sustaining methodology of hard work over Crests. However, due to Those Who Slither In the Dark probably would've undo anything she would've set out to do. So she brute forced it. Though I feel like she should've asked for the church for help FIRST to deal with the Agarthans (like she did in Three Hopes) THEN tell the church off and replace the church, with some resistance from the Kingdom and probably joining forces with the Alliance now turned Federation. And the scene between him and Bowser. Freaking Bowser shows just how much the hammer swinging penguin had improved from the person he was in the original game.
From what I also remember from part of the script that got cut, King Dedede was also part of the Subspace Army and was the reason Meta Knight lost control of the Halberd. But upon learning about Tabuu, King Dedede quietly left the villain group to enact the plan with his Revive Badges as a fail safe to stop Tabuu.
Melee's the Gamecube variant with a different adventure mode. Brawl is the one with the Emissary.

Kirby is just such an inviting character. On the surface he's just a guy who likes to eat, sleep and make friends but then you look deeper....you find the same thing but it works for him. With Kirby, what you see is what you get. A determined friendly pink circle. It's so hard to just look at him and not smile. I love that Kirby's this endless beacon of positivity. Willing to help strangers in need. Quick to forgive and break bread with people who still very obviously want him dead or have been enemies in the past. He just doesn't know any better and will treat anyone who isn't attacking him like they've been homies for life. That's funny. That's cute. That's...Kirby. People like to talk about how he's just so damn strong and....he is but I've always appreciated how these world ending stakes have never weighed on his simple mind too heavily. That is some god-like being awakened from centuries ago wanting the destruction of all life. That's a guy that is stopping eating sleeping and friendship and now must be terminated. It's been said time in and time out but the person who cares the least about the lore surrounding Kirby is titular character. Never stop being the charming pink gumball you are little guy.
Yet even with all that positivity, he literally eats henchmen for breakfast.

Meta Knight is definetly my favorite Kirby charachter. Its just really impressive how H.A.L managed to make charachter that is formed like a ball so cool looking.

Speaking of the Mage Sisters…
Every time I hear more about their traumatic backstories, the more they always point me towards the leviathans of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. It gets even more shocking because I looked around the leviathan bones and pointed some obvious discoveries that correlate to the Mage Sisters.
Eldin Great Skeleton - a Great Flameblame is found inside the skull, and a set of four rocks forming a circle is found outside the vertebrae of rib cage… It was no Korok puzzle… Such stones in that sort of formation can indicate the site where someone died…
Hebra Great Skeleton - inside a cave at the base of the North Hebra Summit. If you exit the cave, you come across a snowfield where an inactive Guardian lies in wait to ambush Link, in Tears of the Kingdom, where the Guardian was is replaced with rubble from the sky islands when the Upheaval occurred… guarded by a Frost Gleeok… Why was that spot significant? Hm?
Gerudo Great Skeleton - In Breath, it was the site of a shrine and a fairy fountain. Surrounding the bud are Fire, Ice, and Electric Safflinas… Sound familiar? In Tears, not only was this leviathan now located in a cave where it once stood upon, but we realize it had a child that died with it… Exiting the cave will lead you to the Lightning Temple, an ancient towering structure where the Gerudo Sage of Lightning hid her Secret Stone… where Queen Gibdo is fought twice. The roof of the temple has rubble with rocks that contain rare stones that Link can collect in his inventory. And think for a moment… a towering structure in a land associated with lightning…
The Dark Skeletons…
Nobody knows the exact nature of these monstrous fossils… aside from being Gloom Spawn habitats and the where the Hero of the Wild set can be found… they all appear identical to each other… not to mention the Phantom Ganon that appears at the Gerudo Dark Skeleton is equipped with a spear… beneath a land associated with lightning… the other two had swords… The Depths are Tears’ most dangerous location. Evil is everywhere…
Not to mention…
The shocking resemblance of Francisca to Nayru. More specifically her 2D sprite model in Oracle of Ages. Flamberge having a fang (at least judging from fan art) like a certain humanoid demon, and Zan having the undying loyalty to Hyness. Undying loyalty… That’s more of a Sheikah trait… Sheikah to Hylia, Yiga to Ganon.

Man, Adeleine got done so dirty here. She appears in all the number segments, but doesn't even get an honorable mention. I love Adeleine so much because, minding the paint brush she wields with a limitless supply of paint that creates animate objects, she's really just a plain, regular old human who happens to be stranded in the chaotic universe of Kirby, and she's seemingly the only one left to boot. She's such a sweet, kind, and precious person which really makes me feel for her and the situation she's in. I also love when we get to explore Shiver Star and see what was probably her old home, a desolate Earth suffering a permanent state of post-apocalyptic winter, nobody else like Adeleine in sight. It's just a shame that she has so few appearances. I attribute that lack of appearances to her exclusion from the anime on the grounds that Sakurai didn't want human characters to show up in it, the creatives taking that as them needing to leave behind Adeleine, and that decision likely single-handedly kneecapping her ability to appear in games for such a long time. I only hope that now, in a post-Star Allies world, whenever Hal decides to make another new Kirby game that starts bringing back more stuff from previous games (I'm happy with Forgotten Land being the way it is even regarding all this because that game was clearly meant to be made up of mostly original content and only a small handful of old material) that they give Adeleine another chance. Yes, she's my favorite character in the Kirby series, just in case you couldn't tell by now.
I'd Argue DaRoach is just a straight Rogue, in 5e thirteenth level Thief Rogues can the ability to use magic items and ignores any additional rules for attuning to magic items and all of his magic if I recall comes from the magic items and nothing he does. Therefore he is a 13th level thief rogue

I've got a soft spot for Shadow Kirby. Throughout Amazing Mirror he looks like he's going to be another antagonist. However, by the time you're fighting Dark Mind he'll either give you healing items or return Meta Knight's sword. The post-credits reveal he was never really evil, he just saw regular Kirby and assumed the worst.
His return in Triple Deluxe was... odd. Between a radically different design and being a lot more aggressive, we didn't even know he was the same character until Fighters 2 gave him a nice mix of the two designs. Said game also gives a reason for suddenly turning hostile in Triple Deluxe: he didn't. He may not be evil, but he's not above pranks.

The ending to Dedede's Revenge from Superstar Ultra was *the* moment where he earned my complete and utter respect. First we got him telling bandana dee to escape the castle before Kirby's rampage crosses his path, and Bandana Dee stays. Hell, even after Kirby kicks his ass, he finds his way to the arena to cheer for Dedede.
And then the credits.
You *cannot* tell me, that Dedede is a horrible king when all those dees are still willing to follow him after his defeat. And the smile he gives when they start appearing is so heart warming.

I remember when Forgotten Land first released, and everyone was shooting murder glances at Elfilin, expecting him to backstab us like every other Kirby character in the past few games. But for me, I had faith that he would still be on our side. He’s just so lovable and helpful, wanting to do everything to help protect the Waddle Dees. It warmed my heart when I realized that by the end, he was never gonna be the villain, my faith finally kept in tact.
A friend of mine was saying that this was probably the best outcome since he was PART of the ultimate villain but was also our friend, so it made theorists on both sides happy
Instead of being an evil backstabber, he just the good half of an omnicidal maniac and wanted to defeat the evil half once Kirby ran into it
Kirby characters are just made for pure love and joy, with some heldrich horror backstory to give it a nice twist! I love Kirby and his friends, and I can't wait to see what adventures they’ll go on next!

A cool detail about Meta Knight’s character in forgotten land, he actually takes on the role of protector of Waddle Dee town whenever Kirby’s away. Remember Goromando, the giant gorilla? Meta Knight had to fend him off 30 times! And he won every single time!

On top of Kirby being a father. He also befriended the one snowman that shows up in all the games. Like he befriended a snowman that was an assassin, and his friendship with him made him not only turn against king DDD but also his creator. Leading to his death and the episode ends showing yes he's DEAD.

The D man got it. Was there really any doubt. I think he has the most notable character growth in the series, actually trying to be a good enough King to the land he barged into and proclaimed a monarchy in.
Plus I don't think people give anime Dedede enough credit. A lot of fans credit him for the misconception of him still being a villain which....yes the anime doesn't really help but not only is he just funny, he also does have some character to him. Multiple episodes showcase how Dedede is more of a manchild who craves attention, usually taking it to the extreme because he has the money and power to do so. That "crying at Kirby's funeral" episode has the context of everyone getting a dedicated day of appreciation and gifts. Dedede tries his hardest to get his own but literally no one likes him for obvious reasons. Even when Kirby, quite literally the only person there who likes him comes with a gift in the form of a watermelon, Dedede sees it as a prank because it was eaten by someone who should not be trusted with food gifts. The King, as usual, blows it out of proportion which leads to the prank discussed in the video. Funny thing is, while it was a bunch of bomb watermelons, Dedede is fully banking on Kirby surviving even trying to get a gift for him from N.M.E. Dedede's actions were, in every way possible, just a prank bro. I'm not saying anime Dedede is necessarily a good person or developed character, he does kinda go back to his scheming ways every episode and this idea of him just wanting people to acknowledge him never gets expanded, but I will say he was probably the most entertaining thing about Right Back at Ya for many reasons. Another W for the king if you ask me.
I called the Dedede number one pick but that’s not at all surprising or incorrect.
I hope Hal makes a future Kirby game that finally reveals, explore and develop the franchise's biggest mysteries. Like a secret origin for Kirby, the Ancients, bigger stakes with more daring consequences, more epic boss battles in the same level as Magolor and Fecto Elfilis, and so on.
If I can add in on Susie's story, Max Haltmann was constantly using Star Dream to bring her back from the dead, which failed due to her not actually dying. All of the constant use ofcthe artificial clockwork star did damage to his mind, making him forget his daughter almost entirely until it was way too late (when his mind ans soul was absorbedby Star Dream). Also, that "teach him a lesson" and "mechanize planets" were semi-mistranslations, actually saying her wish was to "make him (her dad) wake up (come to his senses) with tears in his eyes" and what she was doing after KPR was turning HAL works co. into a better company, giving happier lives to the planets in its care... and exterminate the 'uncivilized'.
I take the "teaching him a lesson" part as a subtext that's meant to be read between, with the meaning behind it being, as you said "waking him up". It's less obvious, but I think figuring that out is part of what makes it so cool.
That's why King Dedede is the best Kirby character, his development was the best of all characters.
Galacta Knight also needs a mention here. Mix the tragedy of Taranza, the existential horror of Haltmann, the madness of Marx and the power capable of defeating Void Termina and you have the strongest warrior in the universe...
... who also hates his own existence.
Galacta Knight is implied to be either one of the Four Heroes or the creator of the Heart Spears. Either way, he was a big deal back when he was a good guy since he was instrumental in the defeat of Void Termina.
Unfortunately, an unknown incident caused him to go absolutely insane, wiping out several planets in his rampage forcing (presumably) Hyness and the other Ancients to lock him away beyond space and time.
The problem is that he was _conscious_ the whole time and between that horrifying existence and the madness he's been struggling with for eons, he kinda wanted to die, but he was freaking strong that it really was not possible as instead of death, he just gets put in the crystal. In fact, his desire to be put out of his misery was so strong that in a What If scenario, it attracted the Butterfly of Sukhavati causing it to absorb him out of pity.
And if Shinya Kumazaki's words in the _Super Kirby Clash_ interview are anything to go by, Galacta Knight will come back in a big way in a future entry.
Galacta Knight is one of only two characters who are my favorite in their respective verses that I want dead out of mercy. The other being Itachi Uchiha.
Honestly: Thought it was gonna be either Magolor or Dedede at number 1. Frankly, it could have gone either way. For a relatively simple series, we get some truly wonderful characters.
You got something a bit wrong with the Mage Sisters, namely the ending for the extra story. It doesn't just stay with them dead like that but if you look carefully, you'll see a dark aura appear around them all while an ominous sound plays as it does.
And those of us Kirby veterans may recognize that sound from Kirby 64 if you got the bad ending where the fairy queen, after waving bye to Kirby and co., glances over at Ribbon with an evil glare.
It’s kind of interesting that how in the Top 10 Sonic characters, a very powerful copy bot was number 4 and in this favorite list, a copy character (the main character and a powerful one at that) also made it to number 4. And they are my favorite characters from their respective series.
Fun Fact: Plus Zelda and Sonic Month, the #4 are all the ones I passionately candidated for the list. Emerl for Sonic and Linebeck for Zelda. Originally, I was expecting Susie to be #4 on this list since she falls into that category, but the writers agreed to bump her up to #2 because of her complexity, so Kirby is #4 instead, yet in a way, it still works out since he too is my boy.

Throughout the series Kirby has some very interesting characters ranging from the friendly animal companions, tough rivals that occasionally become allies, and of course the beings are nightmare inducing with terrifying lore behind them. Looking forward to seeing which ones will be mentioned.

Dedede’s right hand snail who’s always eager to help out in whatever crazy scheme the king’s got cooking up.
BTW, he’s of the few characters from the anime who made a brief appearance in the games, specifically the Kirby Quest minigame in Mass Attack.

Here are my favorite characters in the franchise.
1. Meta Knight. I always thought he was cool whether in the animated series, in his boss fights or as a playable character in Smash Bros.
2. King Dedede. Always an enjoyable villain either for his comedic side or for his fun boss fights.
3. Magolor. I still love his twist and his boss fight in Return to Dreamland. Especially since he was rather good at manipulating the heroes.

A character I'd like to bring more attention to is Hyness. In my opinion, he's quietly one of the best villains this series has had. A once genuinely good man who acted as a quasi-father figure to the Mage Sisters he saved, whose mind eventually cracked after the suffering he and his people endured in the years since the Ancients banished them in fear of their power. In his desperation to bring justice and peace to his shattered & forgotten clan, he turned to faith in Void, a being he saw as a God after a dream (the director explained that last point in an interview outside of the game). Sadly, the bitterness in his heart consumed him (figuratively and literally), and his plan to revive Void became less about finding peace for his people and more about smiting the universe that abandoned them in his eyes. In this mad state, he even neglected his love for the Mages and began abusing them, to the point of using their unconscious bodies as freaking clubs!
Only Kirby could leave me optimistic about the future of a person who had gone _that_ far down the deep end. With Hyness seemingly having regained his senses thanks to the Friend Hearts and Kirby's compassion, I'm extremely curious as to what he'll do and how he'll behave in a less antagonistic role. I really hope he and the Mage Sisters return in a future game (not counting cameos or stage hazards in Kirby Fighters 2), though knowing this series, that's probably only a matter of time.
And so another themed month has come to a close. I saw your Sonic Month videos, and saw that Dr. Eggman was your No. 1 Sonic character.

Dedede knows how to be a hero, he just lets his ego and grudge against Kirby get in the way when Dreamland isn’t in danger.

She was low on time, like Lysithea before her, she was short on years and decided to get things done while she's still alive. Is it morally correct?
