This scene was one of the saddest things I've ever watched, the fact that they had to go through all of that and still didn't get a happy ending is truly heartbreaking and depicts the sheer cruelty of the real world

This scene is my favorite “life flash before your eyes” moments in any form of media.
Youre hit with constant regret with the choices you make that affect the ones you love but in the end find solace from the comfort of knowing you join those you love.
We're all really blessed to be able to experience a masterpiece like this in our lifetime
Sometimes you look for wealth elsewhere, when it was always near you. Man,the story of Gardar was really sad..
I really learn alot from Gardar's story. I learn that as humans, we tend to fixate and obsess on things that we dont have, yet forget on the things that we do have. We seek wealth, status, approval of the public. Yet sometimes it comes at a cost, whether thats sacrificing your own well being or even worse, your loved ones. Regret and that late realization always come last, and it might be one of the most painful things ever. I dont wanna be like Gardar, ever
I'm not ashamed to admit that this has been one of the few time I've cried like a little baby wstching anime. This entire sequence would've kept me on edge if I didn't guess Gardar would die from his injuries, which made it all the more devastating how Arnheid knew too. I'm not a father yet, but I aspire to be, and seeing Gardar's flashbacks of Hjalti made me cry harder. I wish to have a healthy son and I am thankful for everything my lwn father has done for my family. This entire sequence is a sublime piece of emotion. The only other death in anime that has made me cry this hard was Meruem's. Great cover by the way👍
5:01 Gardar's face fcking broke me, even after reading the manga and already expecting this, mappa still get to made this scene even more sad, been a while since I cried like this over an anime, truly peakland saga moment. Great job on the cover

Dang still hurts. What happened to this couple and their son is so tragic. It's so heartbreaking and so what a great story telling by Makoto Yukimura. God I love this series.
I love the duality of some vikings loving war and the ones who if given another chance wouldn't go off to war, or see how silly these wars are. This is fantastic

I usually never get to tearing up while watching something, no matter how heartbreaking it is and how it affects me, I just never get to the point of crying. Except this episode, I've never cried this much. The fact that it's been only 3-4 episodes since Gardar was introduced, but somehow I connected with his character to the point of tearing up during his death. I didn't even know I could cry like this. His story was just so heartbreaking. I watched this episode the second time after couple of weeks and it still made me tear up AGAIN. wtf

This isn't a new composition. The OST that plays during this scene is called Rusty Sword and it's been used since season 1. Not to discredit you or anything.

So... am I the only one who absolutely hated this episode? Gardar really over stayed his welcome. I think he "died" an entire 5 times. Really wish they'd have just picked a favorite death scene.
