A "real" homesteader stays prepared for things just like this. I am not going to rid my pantry of quick yeast or anything else to make myself feel I am a better keeper of the home. The most important thing is you got a home cooked meal on the table.
I love that you are real about using things like ziplocks and instant yeast. This is real life and I appreciate you not putting on a front about that kind of stuff. I also loved seeing your husband and kiddo sniffing around the kitchen! There’s no better compliment than an eager bunch chomping at the bit for their supper. ❤
Thank you for not being an all or nothing homesteader Steph! That’s why I love your channel😊Sourdough is wonderful, but yeast is great to and saves time! We have it stocked, along with having a sourdough starter.
I’m inspired! I just listen to your channel and just go to town on my day to day chores. I am in the next stage of life, my children are grown and married. I’m believing for grandchildren soon, but can so appreciate your hard work and love your home and family life. I’m listening to you while I make dinner tonight just lintel stew and thinking to myself that you’re due in just a few weeks. I’m so excited and fairly new to your channel. You are an incredible person and thank you for making these videos, they just make me happy and remind me to count it all joy even the mundane. Much love from southern Indiana
I absolutely love the way you love your husband by making meals to his likes. My husband doesnt like vegetables or soup much and i always accommodate for him in one way or another. I noticed how in another video too you do pretty much the same thing I do in thos situations. Its just lovely seeing other women serve their husbands.
I love working with active yeast, sourdough is good but there's nothing wrong with having both on hand. You made it all from scratch and with love, that's all that matters!
I’ve been making sourdough on and off for about 3 years and my husband really dislikes sourdough bread, having to switch more to yeasted breads, learning that home made is always better than store bought and not to beat ourselves up for what works best for your own home:)
Its such a wonderful picture and story. I loved hearing that you husband and children were circling the kitchen. I feel the same way in my kitchen. Its a great compliment I feel. What a wonderful homemaker you are. Happy tummy's and such a beautiful sight that meal was!!! Thanks I must try the frying
So, your chicken Parm looks so amazing that I went to the grocery store the next day for all the ingredients! I'll be making it this weekend! What an awesome cook you are.
I have been a new, but avid watcher of your channel. I absolutely love what you do and aspire to have this lifestyle. I would also like to see more of what your weeks look like for cooking and planning. As well as your wardrobe because I love your outfits! Thank you for sharing your life with us!
I recently found your channel and am so enjoying watching! It wasn't until I just saw your IMOS cheese that I realized you are from Missouri. I grew up in St. Louis and am about 80 miles west of there. I love that you are from the same area!!!!!
I always keep a tiny bit of my discard in the back of my fridge because I had an occasion where fruit flies got into my starter and laid eggs 😩 had to scrap my starter. Thankfully I didn’t have to start over just fed my saved discard and I was good.
I was standing around right along with them, virtually of course, ready to eat too! 🥺 Any version of Chicken Parm is one of my favs! 🤤😂 This looked so delicious!
I’m all about having yeast hand, I’m a mess. This meal looks incredible! It’s probably my favorite dish and I would be thrilled to have your version at any restaurant lol. I’m an avid bread baker and that loaf also looks 🔥. I’m really enjoying your channel!
I am new to your channel and you had me at Provel cheese from Imo's! I grew up in St. Louis, and Imo's is our favorite pizza. Although we moved away from St. Louis many years ago, I am lucky enough to have a brother who still lives there ,and will bring me a special delivery every time he visits.
After watching this I will make sure I have all the ingredients for this amazing looking meal. Even this gramma from Ontario Canada has learned some new things! Thankyou -I just love watching you work in the kitchen
This video hit just in time.. I neglected my starter for a few days an was thinking I needed to throw it all out.. now I know how to save it❤. The meal looks delicious.
We are about an hour outside of St. Louis and IMOs Provel cheese is pretty much a staple. I wish I could replicate it!!! 😂 SO good! Your dinner looks delicious!!
Wow, looks amazing, your family is so lucky to have you!😊 oh and btw I was wondering if you can tell me the additional ingredients and quantities that you use to make your egg coffee into a pumpkin spice egg coffee. I can’t seem to find the video that you showed that. Thankyou and have a blessed day.
So I just watched your tomato sauce video u recommended in this video and PRAISE the Lord ! I was looking for a recipe that did not need a mill or any other tools and I have a submersion blended ! Yay, but do you have a video how you make it into marinara? Thanks for all you do and video for us , it’s amazing ! You’re amazing !
Looks absolutely delicious!! I recently did throw my starter out because I had it in the fridge for 3 or 4 weeks unfed..I opened it and it smelled like acetone.. so I just figured that was not good lol. 😅
Man i wish i had the time. Working a job is such an interruption to being a wife and mother and the responsibilities of taking care of your family. Ur so lucky.
I worked a very stressful job with odd hours right up until our fourth was born and totally agree with you, it makes like as a wife and a mother very difficult! We are preparing our kids to understand these realities if they are called to marry and make sure mom can be home and they an live on once income 🙏🏼
The contraband comment had me rolling 😂 I have no shame in cheating by adding instant yeast to my sourdough breads cause my english muffins this weekend to over 10 hours to proof properly. I dont have that kind of time everyday 😅
Do you have any experience with Tramontina Enamel Coated Dutch Ovens? I use Lodge, but found one at a good price, so just wondering what your experience might be. Thanks!
How is the sourdough starter going? I threw mine away when it turned pink like that years ago. I read that pink meant a bad bacteria got into it and spoils the whole thing. I'm so interested to hear how it's going now! And I used to be sourdough only, but now I am fine with making sourdough and throwing in when we need an easy bread, bun, or roll recipe. I am grateful that I no long have reactions to homemade wheat products. 😊
Can you also use the water bath canning method to make the marinara sauce? The recipe shows the instructions for pressure canning, but I recalled in one of your videos that acidic foods can be canned in a water bath? Love your channel and all your preparedness advice! :)

I keep yeast too because I don't make sourdough. I stay prepared for baking.
U smart u important
I love the honor and deference you show your husband. God bless your family!

If you made aprons and/or kitchen towels that said "Fork This Dough" I would 100% buy one 😂 much love from KS 😊

U don’t make veggies or soup? Or make him something else
I love how you are apologizing for "not" doing all this stuff, and I'm here like WOW! Who cares if you use yeast? That looks so amazing.
I love working with active yeast, sourdough is good but there's nothing wrong with having both on hand. You made it all from scratch and with love, that's all that matters!

Sourdough or die, for me

From Oregon here. You are truly inspirational. My sourdough starter is now a year old. I love watching and learning from you
The best part is your unabashedly love of Jesus. Thank you immensely
I love that you used “contraband “ yeast😂😂😂
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who gets little messes everywhere when cooking... it really makes the meal taste better lol
Always!! That’s how you know it’s gonna be good 😌
You are my new favorite channel. ❤️🙌🏼

Looks so delicious! 😍 I love learning from you - you make it seem so attainable! Thank you!
This meal made my mouth water. I make garlic herb butter all the time and we love it over noodles for lazy dinner nights too!

The meal looks amazing so good that now i have to make it!! Love watching you thank you for sharing
Looks delicious ❤
I love your videos, Steph.🍂🤎🫶🏻 Dinner looked so delish!👌🏻
This is one of my favorite meals to makes I only do it a few times a year and everyone looks forward to it
I always keep a tiny bit of my discard in the back of my fridge because I had an occasion where fruit flies got into my starter and laid eggs 😩 had to scrap my starter. Thankfully I didn’t have to start over just fed my saved discard and I was good.
That’s such a practical tip! I’ve been meaning to look up dehydrating and storing starter long term as well (just in case!)
That looks so good!
Wow!!!!! That looks amazing!!!! You are a fantastic cook!!!!💕💕💕
Omgosh. The meal looks so good. Just love watching you prepare meals. I get so many wonderful ideas from you. 😊🇨🇦

Closing the oven door with a foot while hands full... SO me🤭😀👍🏻
Well - congrats. You did a fantastic meal. It must have been a feast 😊
You are so impressive! I love your videos! I have learned sooo much from you and I appreciate it, thank you!
Thank you so much!
I don’t believe in perfection and I don’t think you do either, but you are the closest thing to it. Wow you are so impressive and wonderful to watch.
Have you ever tried grinding your own wheat? It makes it so much healthier than store bought flour! ❤
It really is that good!!
😂 I love you, and my heart flutters whenever I see your foot grab for an oven door handle
I normally make sourdough but whenever I use instant yeast I find it completely magical! The speed and transformation with dried yeast is remarkable.
It really is!
After watching this I will make sure I have all the ingredients for this amazing looking meal. Even this gramma from Ontario Canada has learned some new things! Thankyou -I just love watching you work in the kitchen
Thank you! ❤️
Liking the meals girl. Yes and how you honor your husband. Random question, where do you get your candles sticks from? ❤️🥰🌻
thank you so much because a lot of us don't make ferment, yet.
I think this will be tonight’s dinner 😍😋
I love your foot action with the oven😅
Yum!
You should also try adding parmesean cheese to your flour don't ask me why but it works....
This video hit just in time.. I neglected my starter for a few days an was thinking I needed to throw it all out.. now I know how to save it❤. The meal looks delicious.
Mine took 3 days to rebound, not too bad! Definitely quicker than starting a new one!
We are about an hour outside of St. Louis and IMOs Provel cheese is pretty much a staple. I wish I could replicate it!!! 😂 SO good!
Your dinner looks delicious!!
You should see my “contraband” as a non-homesteader 😂
Would you be able to share where you got your apron from some day..? I love it so much!! Your channel is awesome! ❤❤
Yummy!!!😊

Pumpkin pie spice and brown sugar?

It’s shocking how far it can be gone and still be saved as long as you have a tiny bit that looks clean!
@@HopewellHeights I will remember that for next time 😊 Thank you!

Hi Steph, I am curious about the wooden boxes on your counter. What are they and where did you find them?
18:44 It aint going down easy if it aint cheesy 😆
Can I use this recipe with active yeast, not instant?
❤❤❤

It took 3 days to fully recoup, it’s great! I’ve baked several loaves since 😊
I wouldn’t keep it all either
In the garbage
I don’t have trouble making starters though
Every fermenter I reference says toss it all when it’s pink
That Imos provel cheese just hits different 😂
Truly
Homesteaders … always prepared! Ha l like it!!
Always!
Are you enjoying you cast iron from Aldi? They're beautiful!
So far so good! I used the bread ovens and they’re awesome!
I've had mine for 8 or 9 years and they're still great. No chipping and they cook perfectly! @@HopewellHeights

Using my recipe you do have to pressure can due to the carrots
