General Cinema (2001-2002)

- Quite the unexpected rarity. The final General Cinema policy trailer was screened at select GCC theaters one year after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. This was produced as the chain switched their beverage supplier to Coca-Cola, though reports online stated some GCCs were still screening the Pepsi-sponsored 1997 Candy Band trailer during this time period. In 2002, General Cinema went defunct and most of their complexes were absolved to AMC Theatres.
This was produced by Cinema Concepts and was downloaded from their website's Trailer Park. I do not own nor claim to own any of the material presented here. General Cinema Corporation is a trademark of JTE Multimedia, LLC.

It was General Cinema's last policy trailer before AMC Theatres swiped them. This was when Cellphones started becoming popular until Smartphones took over.
That looks like one of the coolest looking of policy trailers!
I don't live in USA, but I can feel how your favorite cinema went into demise and taken over by another company which changed it into something you can't relate to anymore.
I kept replaying the intro and policy trailer of my fav cinema, with a tiny hope it'd come back someday... Well maybe not.
Looks like GCC wanted to go out with a bang.
And they certainly did!
Had GCC not gone bankrupt, this trailer probably would have been used until 2004 or 2005. By that point, the cell phone in this trailer would have been considered outdated.
The end of General Cinemas era.
I know
I used to work at GCC & I would still work there to this day if my location had not shut down in 2000.
the whole company shut down. it went Bankrupt. in the early 2000 ticket prices were like 4-6 dollars, but GCC wanted to charge twice that so people stopped going. I remember they started to build a GCC theater not to far from me but GCC went bankrupt and shutdown about midway through the construction. The site is now a Walmart, the only thing big enough to fit in that vacant spot.
That's what prices are now, about $8-$10.
LOL. idk what country you live in.

I miss General Cinema. I worked at the 14-screen General Cinema in Greenwood, IN, in November 2001. Mello Yello was (and still is) my favorite soda. Care Bears gummy bears were my favorites in the concession stand candy case. What memories!
You were there?
@@Club-Dreamiverse Yes, I worked at General Cinema in Greenwood, IN.
I remember going to the 14 screen General Cinema in Greenwood around November or December of 2000 and have a question. Was General Cinema selling Coca Cola beverages around that time?
@@tuxie1989 I believe it switched to Coca-Cola in 2001, but it may have done so before then.
It’s been nearly 20 years, since General Cinemas was closed down.
R.I.P General Cinema Corporation (1935-2002)
AMC should revive Popcorn Bob for the coming soon and feature presentation policy trailer's
And pair it with their film mascot clip they used in their advertisements back in the mid 90s to 2000s, I'd like to see those 2 work together.
cutemimi25 I miss Clip as well.
Benjamin Vanneste Me too, and Clip was probably the reason of the film-era
@@joeyjoe308 which cinema will have anthropomorphic snacks now?
I remember the Coming Attractions Bumper in that era when Popcorn Bob hushing the audience while holding a movie clapper and it says: Coming Attractions.
And that one's lost by now.
@@bradyanderson6311 Maybe someday someone will find it.

Rest in rip General Cinema (1970-2002)
Well this sucks, I guess they had to stick with CineMark, Dolby Cinema, IMAX, Regal, Showplace cinemas, some theatres, Vue, and even AMC. *Sigh* how they still get there
GC goes back further than 1970.
@Ethan Guzman 1935.
Used from January 2001 until General Cinema's demise in March 2002
R.I.P General Cinemas. You were great.
The last appearance of the General Cinema jingle.
Interestingly, GCC used to own Hoyts Cinemas in Argentine and for many years the mascot which appears in this video was used as a mascot for Hoyts, they even called him Pochoclin (pochoclo being how popcorn is called in Argentina)
Does this policy trailer for General Cinema, which it has to be shown right before Rush Hour 2 as a part of the very first GCC showing. Like on Friday the 3rd of August 2001?
So this must've been when General Cinema switched from Pepsi to Coke "where I lived General Cinema became an AMC theater, but around 2009 they remodeled into Roxy cinema"
Don't suppose JTE Multimedia would ever bother letting some Ma & Pa establishment use the General Cinema trademark for their business, though I'd like to see it happen.
Its kinda funny how they went all out for this policy trailer but GCC would only be in existence for another 2 years or so.
Actually, movies 6 in granger (got demolition in 2019) was a general cinema
I love this animation!
Man, General Cinema was a long time partner with Pepsi, but Pepsi was replaced in 2000 with "ice cold" Coca-Cola!
General Cinema owned one of the largest Pepsi bottlers in the country.
I have read reports that General Cinema moved to Coca Coca in 2001, but my memories are kind of Hazy when it came to my final visit to General Cinema in Greenwood, Indiana back in November or December of 2000 when I saw The Grinch. I saw the Grinch back in Christmas 2000. Was General Cinema's Greenwood, Indiana location selling Coca Cola at the time The Grinch was released or were they still selling Pepsi at the time?
Opening to Spiderman 2002 my theater
Taken from Cats & Dogs (2001)
I worked for GCC from 1999-2001
Seems like there are two versions of this trailer, one where it ends like the one shown here, and the other where everything just falls and ends with the last segment of this video
There is a variation m.ruclips.net/video/9sqSqg0AUfg/видео.html
That's... literally what I mentioned.
cinema concepts does it again
If General Cinema was still around, I bet Pepsi Sue would’ve been renamed to Sue (mainly due to the switch from Pepsi to Coca-Cola)
Or Cokehead Sue!
Taken from Monsters, Inc. (2001)
loved this one
Sadly, It's The Company's Final Intro :,(
Why does this feel like a step down?
+Greg Palmer Probably because they had just filed for bankruptcy plus had switched their drink provider and had to make a quick decision on a budget.
Now that’s a winner
0:32 sorry old 📞
My best guess is the final movie on the General Cinemas is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone or The Lord of the Rings.
Mine would be Clockstoppers.
@@plushblueepPokémon 3 Maybe?
Or Jimmy Neutron?
Love this trailer
From clappers to staplers, they make everything dogs.
Did they sample Don Messick's 'Bandit' barks from 'Johnny Quest'?
The good old days I miss theme covered GENERAL CINEMAS in 1994 to 1997 in HANOVER MASS they had 4 screens . I started @ HOYTS 1992 in KINGSTON MASS back then they only had 10 screens Former member IATSE LOCAL 437 of BROCKTON MASS . NOW LIVING IN FL
For the $260,000 Cinema Concepts got for this, I think I could have made a better policy trailer. It's who ya know...

The Add Round is Cringe In My Opinion
Popcorn Bob without Pepsi Sue, curses.
Cool
4K please.
im trying to remake this. is it hard
there's a phone dancing with the food?
diane caplan, inanimate objects being sentient, regardless of function, is something to expect in a post-1993 GCC policy trailer. It's not as off-putting as the 1997 trailer, where Popcorn Bob drinks a Pepsi at the movies with his anthropomorphic Pepsi girlfriend.
WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED HERE
looks newer than 2001
The animation is quite timeless.
0:26
Well I'm a fan of Coke than Pepsi anyway.
Kat
why? because this is the last policy trailer
Yep.
why isint this 35mm film
I believe FT Depot has a 35mm scan of this trailer
