As an American I am simply dumbfounded by spiderpig. They really tried to sell us on the Simpsons movie solely off that one gag. And it worked. How did it work???? I remember fondly quoting the line with my friends! It was a cultural icon! How did they fool us so?
I am not an American but that Spider-Pig scene is surprisingly funny. It's so out of context, it's bizzarre, I couldn't help
it is just like when you go to the shop and you can't find potatoes not in bags. They already weighted, washed and mostly okay. But when you by them separately: I mean you are choosing each root-crop in your bag/pocket-you would choose the best ones. But when they sell you everything in an already prepacked package: you would small amount of bad potatoes and most of them are okay. The same happens with TV shows: with a bunch of "laughable" jokes you would get shitty ones too, but you will laugh by reflex, like a pavlov's dog. Your barrier is already discharged, so they can manipulate with you more easier than before.

Being an American, when you watch a pig walking on the ceiling, it's not like anyone else. As you watch, you know you have to do something about it, because you know you're the only one that can really laugh.
