Guys. Ya’ll are aware that I tried to make Baritorn Ugly YET likable, right? If you like Baritorn, that’s a good thing, not a failure on my part. Glad you enjoyed.

Almost as if the presence of clothing esc body parts exentuate the preexisting features of the pokemon.
I was coming to the comments section to make a similar remark, the ugly pokemon is ugly cause its wearing cloths, the pretty one is pretty cause its wearing cloths. yep checks out
Honestly, even if I find a pokemon's design good, I still get weirded out by the idea of some Pokemon where their "Clothes" are actually a part of its body. Like Lucario's shorts or Gardevoir's dress. I know there are plenty of creatures where they have long or bushy aspects to their body but, when I see stuff like that on pokemon, I get confused. like.... does Gardevoir feel pain when the dress is harmed? Can Lucario cut the "hair" that is their shorts or is that actually pure muscle and skin? Can those aspects grow back if cut? Like.... how does it work?
I personally find Aromatisse cute. Like a teddy bear that you want to squeeze or a really fluffy cat. I want to shove me face into its fluff whenever I am stressed.

I kinda wish we got to see all the data on from the doc, I wanna see some of the oddball picks people had for these pokemon. (As an example, I unironically put male unfezant as my pick for prettiest pokemon)
Unfezant would definitely be seen as pretty by everyone if it was a real life bird. I don't get why people say that it is ugly, it's a pheasant, and pheasants in general are pretty. I'm glad someone thinks like me, I thought I was alone on this one!
I was actively getting more worked up waiting for Bruxish. The breath of victory I let out when it came in at 1 was like having an out of reach itch scratched. 😂😂
I often question the hate people have for Bruxish. Yeah it's ugly, but have you seen a reef triggerfish? They are pretty ugly too. I can give it a pass for that, but I guess many others don't
@noahberan6498 tbh the color scheme/ design is a big thing for me. Then there's the lips 😣. And the eyes that look like they're trying to lure you in 😫. Now that I think about it, if the colors were different, I think I'd be neutral about it. 🤔
I love Baritorn, I definitely think it's a bit 'ugly' but I love it because of that. I mean, I love bats and my favorite is the ghost-faced bat which I would consider a high contender for 'ugliest looking bat'. XD And of course, Heliallure is gorgeously designed, I can definitely see it being the 'popular girl bully'.
Peramosa should have made the list, it's WAY prettier than Liligant, just a bulbous flower with clown pants. Lopunny also does not belong, aside from being overtly sexual and feminine, there is nothing 'pretty' about it. Also how is Tsarina not on this list? She should have been top three. I'm getting kind of heated over here watching you list the 'pretty' pokemon, I have strong opinions on this subject lol I'm a 35 yo woman and I've played and loved pokemon since childhood, and I sometimes do nuzlocks where I can only use pretty (or as I'll call them, 'girl') pokemon. They're some of my favorite games.
Truegreen did a great job. It’s also cool to see how both feebass and milotic pretty much achieved their goal and we’re both beloved. I do feel like barbaracle kinda just looks messy or confusing rather than explicitly ugly. Even when I knew he was a barnacle I still felt like I didn’t know what I was looking at.
I adore my walking trash bag. Especially when you learn in one of the Japanese magazines trubbish is labeled as a cat pokemon and I can't unsee the resemblance. Very much alley cat or more darkly how people get rid of cats they don't like very much..
I don’t know if it was intentional to make Heliallure look like ballerina Christine, who falls in love with the phantom’s voice, but it is absolutely perfect for the theme ❤
I think our belief that ugly= bad is really interesting and worth challenging. Many great things in life and many wonderful people that we love a lot are ugly. We're so automatically drawn to Prettiness and praise it so much that we think of ugliness as a failure to be pretty, but aesthetic appeal is totally subjective and morally neutral. Why do we so want everyone and everything to look only a few limited ways instead of appreciating something for its unique and interesting differences? I enjoyed hearing people's thoughts on the topic and your new designs.
I can definitely see these two Pokemon being good in vgc too. Baritorn has one of the best type combinations in the game being ghost fairy, and it's ability allows hyper voice to become like a mini astral barage that can also boost it's special attack with the item throat spray. I could also see it running support moves like tailwind or taunt. However it's viability would probably drop once the power level of the format rises, since it would basically be just a slightly worse flutter mane with access to tailwind. As for Heliallure, it's a fire fairy type with access to drought just like oxinerate, but with better stats. It's unfortunate that it wouldn't be legal as it is a mythical.
I always love these kinds of videos because the concepts and designs often get my own creative juices flowing. I like both new designs, but Heliallure could fit in perfectly as one of the many Light type Pokémon concepts and designs I’ve thought up over the years. I hadn’t really put too much thought into my own Helios based concept, but the crown and even Heliallure’s simplicity has the gears turning.
bruxish and enamorous slay and i love them and theyre the best. i can see why these pokemon would be strange to the average straight male pokemon fan but theyre queens and its the truth.
I felt personally attacked by the pretty pokemon that almost made the list. I mean clearly I favor pretty pokemon in general but the top 10 had many that are kinda ok to me. But those runner ups?! I love them all a great great deal
Kinda same tbh. Like I love Gardevoir, Absol and Lilligant and they felt right being on the list but the rest were kinda whatever. I definitely feel that Xerneas, Aurorus and Galarian Ponyta should've 100% made the list. I'd also consider Dragonair prettier than Milotic tbh too. But its clear that this was partly and popularity contest as well. Pokémon like Sylveon, Gardevoir and Milotic are incredibly popular among fans and things like Bruxish and Garbodor have been unpopular among fans since their debut.
Over the last year or two, Bruxish has quickly gone from a Pokémon I can’t stand to one of my favorites and seeing it voted as the ugliest Pokémon makes me very happy. It’s trying to be ugly and it does a damn good job at it, and I can’t help but respect that.
I wasn't all that impressed with the pretty Pokemon either... reminded me too much of Meleotta. In general I prefer Pokemon to be animalistic than to be humanoid.
Baritorn's head was a great start but the rest of the body and the colour scheme look way too cool. I know it was supposed to be ugly yet likable but the pokemon actually ended up looking pretty good. Maybe unsettling human hands or something like that would have worked better for the ugly factor. Bat pokemon always look cool to me.
I low-key love Baritorn's snoot - I generally preference Pokémon with longer snouts, and baritorn is actually pretty silly. Wouldn't make it to my Team, but I'd apprechiate it from afar.
I think one of the most important features that make Milotic the prettiest pokemon is that it doesn’t have visible lips conveying any expression, so it exudes a very specific form of severity and serenity which makes it extremely compelling.
I started appreciating Jynx more when I stopped seeing it as an awkward woman in a dress and started seeing it as a sea anemone with a slug-like foot and a vaguely humanoid upper body. But anyway, these are both very well-done designs. Baritorn also looks a lot like it could be a Dracula-inspired Pokémon.
Sea anemones are almost entirely immobile, so it makes sense that Jynx would have an alluring voice and bright colors to attract prey. But I think it would look more animalistic if Jynx had noodly arms or the arm segments looked inhuman.
Honestly, I love baritorn more than heliallure. I do love more monstrous and less conventionally attractive Pokémon like Rhydon, Nidoking, haxorus, koraidon, gyarados and garchomp more than humanoid and “pretty” Pokémon like lopunny, gardevoir, milotic and tsareena.
Heliallure is funnily enough one of my favourite pokemons you made, since I love Meloette and Primarina. It was a great designed pokemon! Also loved the Phantom of the Opera inspiration
I can see this as part of an old styled event where in order to get Helliolure you have to take a Baritorn to a certain altar where Baritorn will sing and call Helliolure down and you can battle and catch it. Maybe they're both introduced in the same DLC.
Suddenly, I can't help but imagine a Pokémon retelling of The Phantom of the Opera! 😄🎭 Heliallure is like the Christine to Baritorn's Erik (The Phantom)!
seeing the list of the prettiest pokemon and seeing most if not all of my all time favorites on the list/in the honourable mentions (lurantis, alolan ninetales, lunala, gardevoir, mega absol, and not to mention primarina and diancie, who are my second and first favorite pokemon of all time) certainly says something about my taste in fictional monsters
yeah kinda like the troupe of the externally beautiful person accepting the ugly appearance but beautiful heart of another. like in the frightening Disney classic Hunchback of Notre Dom
personally i would make the clouds a pastel blue. i know it doesnt match the sunset aesthetic but the color blue actually calms people down, so they associate blue with good things. i feel like that would look a little better
Helialure is really pretty! I think you nailed it with the pose and color scheme. And in your defense, I don't think you could have made a pokemon uglier than Crabomniable if you were blindfolded...
I didn't get to see the poll, but the prettiest Pokémon in my opinion is Ho-Oh. It is straight up a Chinese fenghuang phoenix drawn in Pokémon style, nothing changed. And the fenghuang itself gets obvious inspiration from many landfowl such as chickens, peacocks, and pheasants, which are beautiful and colourful birds in real life, so of course that would also translate into Ho-Oh's design. I think only a straight up 100% peacock Pokémon would dethrone Ho-Oh in beauty, if one would be made in the future (well, Quaquaval is a peacock+duck, and while it is my favourite starter, it's too humanoid to be prettier than an outright bird with avian anatomy).
Personally, I’m not someone who can just fully hate a design, especially when it comes to Pokémon. I just need to have at least some idea of its concept. However, I can admit that, for the first few times I play a new game, I’m most likely to use Pokémon that appeal to me most. Usually, because I’m likely to replay the games anyway, first come first serve, and I plan to get to the rest of the Pokédex eventually.
I like both designs, Baritorn could possibly fit more into goofy as opposed to an ugly design, similar to Probopass. Heliallure also accomplishes her purpose in being alluring, although I do think she should have some simplistic hands akin to Diance or Gardevoir instead of the big powerpuff/Meloetta nubs. Hands can be nearly as expressive as a face, but Meleoetta's nubs work for her since she has the music note theme and imagery as a big part of her design and her hands resemble said notes.
i think what we have learned is that people base too much of their opinion of things on the way it looks. "this thing looks ugly or unattractive to me so i hate it" is such a bs and childish mindset
ok but they're Pokemon 💀 people are allowed to dislike a fictional creature that they find ugly, that doesn't mean they're a bad person or shallow or anything. Pokemon are literally meant to be judged on their designs and personal appeal
My best way to explain drowzee is the internet was shipping it with someone who clearly didn’t like that, so after, about a year hate for this Pokémon definitely grew
I actually love bruxish, she's like the drag queen of pokemon and I love it for that. Honestly slaying the whole game and the color scheme is actually satisfying to me.
I have an interesting idea for you Ron! Randomize a Pokemon, Typing and maybe other attributes height, weight, stats, etc. Maybe if it goes well it could be a series 🤷🏼 I apologize if you already did something like this I’m relatively new to your art stuff.
Now that Truegreen7 has explained the lore for Baritorn and Heliallure, I can't help but ship the two Fakemon, even though he just created them. Don't look at me like that, you know you ship some Pokémon too.

@@D3viant517 It's a references from Spongebob
@@Thedragonlover95 I know I was referencing what squidward says
@@D3viant517 XD
A lot of ‘ugly’ Pokémon are lowkey adorable imo. Garbodor, Barbaracle, and Stunfisk are all Pokémon I’d happily add to a team.
"The three most beautiful things on earth" joke at 11:59 was absolutely incredible. I loved it
I kinda wish we got to see all the data on from the doc, I wanna see some of the oddball picks people had for these pokemon. (As an example, I unironically put male unfezant as my pick for prettiest pokemon)
He is pretty
Unfezant would definitely be seen as pretty by everyone if it was a real life bird. I don't get why people say that it is ugly, it's a pheasant, and pheasants in general are pretty. I'm glad someone thinks like me, I thought I was alone on this one!
I put Oricorio as my prettiest pick, but partly because it's my favorite Pokemon. But as a bird lover, I agree with Unfezant being really pretty
Same, because I said Stakataka as the ugliest and Bellossom as the prettiest.
I was actively getting more worked up waiting for Bruxish. The breath of victory I let out when it came in at 1 was like having an out of reach itch scratched. 😂😂
i was like there isnt a chance in hell bruxish isnt #1
I actually raised my hands in the air in triumph when Bruxish was number one. I'm SO glad others find it as hideous as I do.
@NewNotNewbMargieA 😭😭😭 very much hard to look at 😂
I often question the hate people have for Bruxish.
I not ironicly think baritorn is fine, the colors rly helped the design
Peramosa should have made the list, it's WAY prettier than Liligant, just a bulbous flower with clown pants. Lopunny also does not belong, aside from being overtly sexual and feminine, there is nothing 'pretty' about it. Also how is Tsarina not on this list? She should have been top three. I'm getting kind of heated over here watching you list the 'pretty' pokemon, I have strong opinions on this subject lol
I'm a 35 yo woman and I've played and loved pokemon since childhood, and I sometimes do nuzlocks where I can only use pretty (or as I'll call them, 'girl') pokemon.
12:00 bro I spit my food out and started rolling on the floor ☠️
I adore my walking trash bag. Especially when you learn in one of the Japanese magazines trubbish is labeled as a cat pokemon and I can't unsee the resemblance. Very much alley cat or more darkly how people get rid of cats they don't like very much..
Not all of the pretty pokemon being on the list for a different reason 💀
It's mad , MAD I tells ya.
The fact that people said Venusaur is ugly hurts 😭 It's a toad which is why it has bumps
I don’t know if it was intentional to make Heliallure look like ballerina Christine, who falls in love with the phantom’s voice, but it is absolutely perfect for the theme ❤
I think your explanation of why people dislike Enamorus actually made me like it more
Same
it really isn't any uglier than the rest of the genies, and it has a kickass therian forme
The “ugly” Pokemon actually looks really cool
bruxish and enamorous slay and i love them and theyre the best. i can see why these pokemon would be strange to the average straight male pokemon fan but theyre queens and its the truth.
straight men when a feminine pokemon isn't conventionally attractive: 😡😡😡😡😡
the fact that hypno wasnt on the ugly list baffles me
I despise that THING
Wow...... Baritorn is likely a dungeon boss in Labyrinths and Legendaries. Thanks Truegreen7
Who said my baby Garbodor is ugly?! It's super cute and I love it!
Every single Pokémon is pretty in their own way.
I'm defending every single Pokémon when I'm saying this: THEY ARE GORGEOUS. Especially Garbodor.
Over the last year or two, Bruxish has quickly gone from a Pokémon I can’t stand to one of my favorites and seeing it voted as the ugliest Pokémon makes me very happy. It’s trying to be ugly and it does a damn good job at it, and I can’t help but respect that.
The “Ugly” Pokémon actually looks very cool
But the pretty Pokémon… Disturbs me…
I wasn't all that impressed with the pretty Pokemon either... reminded me too much of Meleotta.
In general I prefer Pokemon to be animalistic than to be humanoid.
I mean, he kinda tried using the data what they prettiest Pokémon to design it
The eyes are a bit off-putting to me. I think it's that they're almost pupiless, which has always wigged me out.
Same 😂
I kind of expected the pretty pokemon to be greenish because the silhouette reminded me of the statue of liberty. The pink threw me off
Baritorn's head was a great start but the rest of the body and the colour scheme look way too cool.
Wouldn't make it to my Team, but I'd apprechiate it from afar.
found the Borzoi owner
10:30 you want a surprise? since it's male to female ratio is 7:1, most of the time you'll find a surprise extra appendage bigger than your own.
12:58 smash next ques- I mean.. GREAT POKEMON DESIGN
Don't hide it brother
Honestly, I love baritorn more than heliallure. I do love more monstrous and less conventionally attractive Pokémon like Rhydon, Nidoking, haxorus, koraidon, gyarados and garchomp more than humanoid and “pretty” Pokémon like lopunny, gardevoir, milotic and tsareena.
As an unapologetic fan of Quilladin, Garbodor, Probopass, and Crabominable, I like Baritone quite a lot. Heliallure just looks basic to me.
Ah, good old sexism...
Not the video itself, btw! Simply the trend we see reflected in what people view as ugly or pretty.
That Baritorn reminds me of Brooklyn from Disney's Gargoyles!
Heliallure is funnily enough one of my favourite pokemons you made, since I love Meloette and Primarina. It was a great designed pokemon!
Also loved the Phantom of the Opera inspiration
Ron: I'm kidding about making it a out America
Also Ron: gives it a headpiece that makes it's silhouette resemble the statue of liberty
I can see this as part of an old styled event where in order to get Helliolure you have to take a Baritorn to a certain altar where Baritorn will sing and call Helliolure down and you can battle and catch it. Maybe they're both introduced in the same DLC.
Aromatisse is cute, tho. It's a cancan dancing plague doctor bird
Suddenly, I can't help but imagine a Pokémon retelling of The Phantom of the Opera! 😄🎭
Heliallure is like the Christine to Baritorn's Erik (The Phantom)!
There is only one Pokemon that I actually hate and gaged when I first caught it. 😂 Drowsie!! It is just terrifying for some reason.
seeing the list of the prettiest pokemon and seeing most if not all of my all time favorites on the list/in the honourable mentions (lurantis, alolan ninetales, lunala, gardevoir, mega absol, and not to mention primarina and diancie, who are my second and first favorite pokemon of all time) certainly says something about my taste in fictional monsters
Call me crazy, but I think that bat (the real bat) is adorable 😅. He looks kind of “fuggly” with his long nose and it makes me want to hug him.
yeah kinda like the troupe of the externally beautiful person accepting the ugly appearance but beautiful heart of another. like in the frightening Disney classic Hunchback of Notre Dom
"Anything that was designed to look feminine or masculine, but doesn't really pull it off"
Yeah. Applies in real life as well.
The way I knew the hammerhead bat inspiration just from the silhouette 😭😭 I think they're the cutest little fellas ever
personally i would make the clouds a pastel blue. i know it doesnt match the sunset aesthetic but the color blue actually calms people down, so they associate blue with good things. i feel like that would look a little better
Watching for years and seeing how your skills improve as well your designs is satisfying. Great job on these 🧛🏻🧜🏻
Helialure is really pretty!
Woah, Baritorn is one of your most convincingly real Pokemon in my opinion.
That bat done got that prehistoric snout, that jurassic sniffer, that dinosaur nose
Those people calling those designs “ugly” are cowards.
3:56 you haven't met most of us, have you?
I like both designs, Baritorn could possibly fit more into goofy as opposed to an ugly design, similar to Probopass. Heliallure also accomplishes her purpose in being alluring, although I do think she should have some simplistic hands akin to Diance or Gardevoir instead of the big powerpuff/Meloetta nubs. Hands can be nearly as expressive as a face, but Meleoetta's nubs work for her since she has the music note theme and imagery as a big part of her design and her hands resemble said notes.
I'm sorry but I disagree whit most of the community's opinion. The big bunny? Really? He is not pretty but he's far from ugly.
Nah brah, Alolan Ninetails is WAY prettier than Milotic.
i think what we have learned is that people base too much of their opinion of things on the way it looks. "this thing looks ugly or unattractive to me so i hate it" is such a bs and childish mindset
^^^ THIIIS
ok but they're Pokemon 💀 people are allowed to dislike a fictional creature that they find ugly, that doesn't mean they're a bad person or shallow or anything. Pokemon are literally meant to be judged on their designs and personal appeal
My best way to explain drowzee is the internet was shipping it with someone who clearly didn’t like that, so after, about a year hate for this Pokémon definitely grew
I can’t believe he drew me as a pokemon
Don't put your self down like that, I think you look nice
(Press x to doubt) we don’t know what they look like how can you be sure
this comment is either incredibly self deprecating or incredibly egotistical and i love it for that
Diggersby looks like he would catcall me while the working construction
I actually love bruxish, she's like the drag queen of pokemon and I love it for that. Honestly slaying the whole game and the color scheme is actually satisfying to me.
Bruxish also has a pizza shiny, you can’t go wrong with that.
I LOVE the idea of a pretty Pokémon that falls in love with a ugly Pokémon is so good!!
PD: I don’t think Baritonr is ugly just a little silly
