🔥🔥 Itoshi Rin’s first appearance! My favorite character 🙂, oh and “Lock off” is basically a censured version of “F-word off”, but they use “Lock” to allude to the anime’s name. It’s supposed to be comedic. The players make fun of it because Ego repeats it often. Also, I’m so excited to see your reaction to the movie because it shows more in depth Nagi’s point of view before blue lock starts and during this First Selection and it has some unique scenes movie only. We can get a grasp more of what Nagi’s true ego is with him as the main focus instead of Isagi.
@@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000 lock off is also a pun ego made. the facility is called blue lock. and as such there's a lot of imagery of them being locked together in there till one comes out. thus lock off when you're eliminated, your lock comes off and you're out permanently
@@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000the movie definitely lets you in on more but still a lot of details about him get missed like the mangaka said he sees Reo as his friend while Reo sees him as a possession (at least at this point in the story the quote hasn’t been updated since)
@@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000I Will suggest you to react the movie "episode Nagi"after you finish the season 1 react, because it will have a spoiler to the 12~24 episode from Nagi's POV
from what i understand, with direct shot he doesnt catch the ball, he kicks it before it lands. he realized that though he can "predict" the future, he loses when others catch up to him whenever he catches the ball, so he shoots it immediately as it lands instead. theres a video of some japanese soccer players all trying to do isagi's direct shot, you can see them doing it irl.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be before it lands, it just means he doesn’t take a touch to control the ball. I forget which match, but Mbappe did pretty much the exact shot in the most recent World Cup
Those black swirl eyes means their egos are talking. When their eyes have negative vertical lines, it means they're awakened or trying something new to awaken and when they have auras over their eyes, they're using their specialty.
Funny how Chigiri was the only one throwing paper. Guys usually go for rock first, girls lean towards paper. Would be hilarious if the author did that on purpose!
Raichii's Voice Actor, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, is quite known for voicing popular loud anime characters, like Inosuke from Demon Slayer, but the ironic thing is that the VA is used to be a pretty timid/anxious person. 😊😊
First time commenter here, it was hard to suppress the urge to tell you how much I've been enjoying these reactions along with really interesting commentary! Also not entirely sure about if you're looking for any sports anime recommendations to react to or if you've already gotten a bunch, but thought I'd shout out "Ping Pong The Animation" and "Run With The Wind" anyway, I don't think anything beats Haikyuu for me, but I'd certainly consider those two to be in the same realm of peak sports anime/stories in general. "Run With The Wind" is especially a big one for me, shaped who I am in some ways and remains an all-timer to this day :) Hope you enjoy the rest of Blue Lock!
The blue aura is for blue lock. Ite generic. It's for people who havent achieved their own ego. When someone awakens and finds their ego, they get their own unique aura color. This episode is when Isagi finds his, and it's green. I really like the green color myself.
yeah i really like it, especially with Protagonist Auras usually being Blue or Red shades. Green as a Color also represents Growth and Rebirth so it's a pretty nice Choice.
For a quick clarification to the reason you meet new faces, even though Ego said there was only building 5, is that there were actually other buildings with other players but they were also made believe that they were at the bottom in this "building 5" of their own. Just wanted to put that out there because I, like many other people, misunderstood that "Only building 5 exists." sentence and though it meant that there weren't actually 300 players at the start, which I only understood later on when you find out new people.
The flash animation you are talking about is I think called puppet animation in the industry, it follows a similar process in terms of animation as 3d animation where, where you create one drawing and then have variations of that drawing, like different positions of the hand, grabbing, pointing towards someone etc. and then you rig that character and start animating with it. It definitely saves time but can be very limiting in terms of camera angles and types of movements, which is why we often don't see it in anime due it high usage of dynamic perspective and poses that often are used in anime
Now, you can see that the aura swaps of their awakenings. You've heard blue was the standard. Right when Isagi shoots his direct shot, it changes to Green. This is his aura henceforth
Just to clarify since its a common point of misconception, there were 5 different buildings, its just that all of them were told that they were the lowest ranked building. So each building still lost 3 out of the 5 teams in it.
The direct shot is basically shooting without bothering to gather control of the ball. In football, like most sports, you basically try to gather yourself before shooting, the direct shot bypasses the gather/control and just goes straight to shooting the ball from wherever the hell it is even if midflight. A perfect weapon for Isagi who acknowledges that due to his inadequacies, he gets shut down in the time it takes for him to gain control and the opponent already closes in on him.
A recurring theme for Nagi is the skull aura/motif as he represents death and rebirth he is truely the first striker we see throw away their personality and gain a new ego and he never really stops, while everyone else has goals that grow he doesn’t have a defined destination
I love the moment where chigiri and kunigami are asking for a pass, and isagi refuses cause he would rather lose than pass in taht moment,he wants to win with his own goal, a lot of sports animes put emphasis on teamwork and they are good but i like how blue lock emphasizes ego and sort of greed for your own play
I'm not sure about this but I think the phrase "lock off" means f- off, they just used "lock" coz of their anime name for "blue lock". idk, it's just how i perceived it watching this anime XD
Would you be able to tell who my favorite character is if I said "FINALLY"? XD Also, ignore all of the negative comments you see about season 2. Please watch it anyway, it will include one of the greatest arcs in the entire manga and I really look forward to see your reaction to it ❤
I have that art book! I guarantee is amazing! Theres also that one infamous volume cover page that anatomically looks horrible but its great that they included it anyway 😂 P.S. be carefull witht he later pages coach! There are definitely spoilers for the future 😭
14:52 You mentioned taking off his shirt. Just so you know, taking off your shirt in football is actually punishable with a yellow card for 'indecent exposure' (i think that's the correct term?). not sure if it would have mattered here in the end of the match, but its usually not a good idea to do so. 29:34 Also, just to clear this up. Judging from your reaction, i think you caught it but i've seen a lot of people who don't understand ego's explanation here so let me clear it up. Originally, what we were given is this: Main character is in Team Z and Team Z is in Building 5 together with Teams V, W, X and Y. And Building 5 is supposed to be housing the bottom 55 players in the blue lock ranking. Which means all players from Buildings 1, 2, 3 and 4 were supposed to be better than the players we see here. However, here Ego reveals that although yes, there were 5 buildings in total, each with 5 teams, all the people in the other 4 buildings were told they were in Building 5 as well. So there is no Team B or Team G for example. There were just 5 Teams V, W, X, Y and Z, and all of them believed they were in the bottom of the pile.
The question that I had in mind for a long time, is why Noel Noa got Into German's Bastard Munchen when he's from France? More so, can he even speak German?
Yo Coach! I have a suggestion; think you should start watching and keep up to date with the new Dragon Ball Daima series! It’s based after the buu saga, and the animation is god tier. I know you love dragon ball, and if you did that it would bring an influx of new viewers with you bringing out something that’s trending right now, with the chance to dissect the animation for people :)
Taking off your shirt is yellow card nowadays. Boring, right? But it has happened that people used this to stall the game (the time doesn't stop in soccer, but the ref gives additional time in the end to make up for the time the game was stopped, around +1 to +10 minutes depending on the game).
To be honest, this episode does not make sense. He says there was no other teams or other buildings, but other players, like Rin or others in the future, never appeared before. So… where were they? There were actually other buildings? I think I missed something
he's also an Art teacher btw and he really loves the attention to detail in anime. I guess the viewers recommend this series to him cause he recently finished Kuroko's Basketball
"He's like Isagi on stereoids" couldn't described it better lol, the Itoshi GOAT Rin is here.
Literally.
Isagi on steroids who listened to WAY too much Lincoin Park
Rachi is going to have an aneurysm before he turns 40 lol

One of the reasons I like Blue Lock is Ego gives life lessons not just soccer. Luck, hunger, zero preconceptions.
Those black swirl eyes means their egos are talking. When their eyes have negative vertical lines, it means they're awakened or trying something new to awaken and when they have auras over their eyes, they're using their specialty.
In the anime whenever they say "Lock off" they are censoring the manga, where they actually say "F*** off"

The reason isagis aura is now green is because it represents rebirth and growth which is what isagi is all about
