Quoting from Dawn News Article Oct 13, 2023. PIA has 37 Aircrafts. 15 are grounded, and the remaining 22 are near the end of their lives. PIA losses have shot up to Rs750bn. Therefore the cabinet has approved to sell PIA.
All this is unfortunate. As we know the crew works hard. There is no shortage for people willing to fly. Just YYZ to major airports in Pakistan is always full.
I think the problem is 19,000 people on payroll. Lord knows how many even work. That's my speculation. No proof. But really do we need almost 1000 people per aircraft? Heavens help us.
