Honestly if it was a 3rd party issue all the Chevrolet cars would have the issue, or if was just 1 bad batch then only one of the Hendrick cars would have failed. The fact that all 4 cars failed (and both louvers on each car were illegal) tells me Hendrick is messing with the air dam that the louvers attach to and in order to make them fit they had to mess with them.

@Aaron Copland you're right, but if I knew I had been screwing with the parts and how much it would cost the team if I got caught, I damn sure wouldn't be volunteering any of my cars to be inspected.
@Shawn Conder from my understanding they didnt volunteer the car to be inspected just the parts, which tells me they couldve been doing something to another part of the car but would rather this be found because it would be easier to appeal. In the older days, teams would purposefully and egregiously incorrectly modify or adjust certain parts just to make sure Nascar didnt find their cheats. So it wouldnt surprise me at all if HMS did this to get by with cheating. Its easier for them to claim the supplier messed up and have to appeal than it would for nascar to just take the win(s) from them by finding it themselves.
Taking all 8 louvers from HMS might have been so they could check their accusations about whether or not there were imperfections in the quality. Now, if they were all modified, then, they are guilty if you can't give them ones off the shelf directly from the supplier.

Am surprised that Nascar is so far behind the eight ball in terms of standard parts. There is absolutely no need for a single vendor manufacturer and sole distribution through Nascar (ticket clipping?). Do as the Australian Supercars does. Simply issue approved CAD drawings for standard parts and let the teams manufacture to the drawings/solid model files. That way the large teams can maintain in house production and the smaller team either buy from the larger teams or outsource manufacture to local shops. Technical checks at scrutineering to ensure compliance to the drawings. So simple.
If it’s one source parts and only 1 was taken from 1 team and all 8 from another couldn’t all 9 come from 1 batch and the 1 that wasn’t taken be older or newer from another batch? What happened to stock car racing, nothing is stock, Nascar is false advertising the sport simply calling it stock car racing, bring cars that are all the same is a parade, not a race!! A race is who can go from point a to point b the fastest, they should build cars from stock parts,a twik them them self's to find speed, the only rule should be must be stock parts ,
It honestly wouldn't be hard for NASCAR to randomly sample a lot of these parts before they went to teams and determine whether or not they were within specifications. And after it was determined whether or not HMS's claim was believable or not from the sample, adjust the penalty accordingly. As to Denny, I agree that the double standard of only penalizing drivers who admit to wrecking other drivers is nonsense and needs to be replaced with consistent penalties for all dangerous driving.
As for Denny - I watched that podcast and immediately said out loud - "Denny, that was stupid". just how expensive that stupid moment will be we will find out in the days ahead and sure enough. Videos and tweets have caught so many people, cost so much money, especially to sports stars and employees - Man, even with all those people who have came before 2 weeks ago how could you think that was a good idea???? .... But hey, 50 grand to denny is like $500 bucks to me, kind stings, sucks, but that's how much it costs to be a dumbass..... I just laughed and said "well, enjoy this one, free entertainment for us cause Denny is buying rounds for the house".... But wait - it will happen again, and again and that is the funny part.
Nascar could stop alot of the talk if they were transparent and showed how the regular parts look and pictures for the modified parts! Why they don't do this is just insane! Doesn't make sense!
Who at NASCAR is/was stupid enough to require a single source provider? Knauss is SPOT-ON. Knauss is NOT calling out the suppliers, but is saying the process is flawed. Brett is absolutely wrong, spot-off on this one without a doubt. The clear and OBVIOUS reason to take one louver is because the quality control is so "eff-ed" up and inconsistent that it is a hit or miss deal.
So what company actually makes the louvers? It's not listed on the spec sheet that NASCAR released last year. The sheet list Fiberworks (never heard of) for the hood but lists multi-million dollar half a century old dedicated to racing manufacturing company Dallara as the manufacturer of the Radiator Ducts (what the louvers connect to)....
In 2:48 if this playing the gentleman on the right said it we need to go back to when we made our on parts and if that wasn't good enough to we figured it out in on discussions

I’ll just say that I think……or actually I know, chad knaus knows way more than some field filler driver 🤷♂️😂. Of all people for nascar to hire they hire Elton sawyer? 🤔🥴🤣.
Well we know who the yes man is. If the parts are wrong the parts are wrong. Nascar and their part suppliers have a commitment to the teams to get it right. If they are not, then Nascar needs to be called out to fix it. Hiding it, covering it up and being a yes man isn't the answer. There has to be wiggle room when Nascar cannot do their job and do quality checks the parts being delivered to the teams. It shouldn't put teams in a bind to run old crap because the designs that were approved were not being made correctly.
NASCAR hasn’t gotten their reputation by wrecking people on purpose. This league has tried to become like “stick and ball” sports that they have forgotten what made them famous.
Legit was gonna say cannibalize the backup car; and even then I wouldn’t put it past Hendrick to have another trailer with enough parts to rebuild two more cars between the 4 teams. Hendrick legit sponsors one of his own cars; there is no way someone with that much money doesn’t have every contingency planned out. Could have had someone just drive them from the facility for all we know.
After running shine, NASCAR became a platform for car company’s to sell cars!! By being able to make their own parts and run their own aero package, etc. this is a bad look for NASCAR. A really bad look especially if they are trying to get better exposure world wide. Great discussion , but be careful you might get fined for saying bad things about NASCAR. 🧡👊🏻🇨🇦
Nascar should not be a spec series. Why are these guys mad about Chad saying what all of the other team owners are thinking? The parts are crap. The cars are crap.

And they checked all 4 cars or did they just confiscate all 8? You guys don’t know at all. Why did they take just one from the 31 car? And take 8 from one team?
Is there a thing where they get so many louvers and teams pick which ones they use? Like the Mullet guy said there parts are out of spec in the other series, hoods being too low or high wtf that's a huge problem .😢 Out of that many parts I could see some being different . I know I'm RC racing we used to buy 8 motors , Dyno them and only keep good ones, or use certain ones . Like drag racing guys, get a semi load of clutch discs and only keep barely enough for a couple months of racing and sell the others. Lol I know why I don't watch this show or the Denny show. Mom said if you can't say nothing nice.

Why does everyone have a problem with this? Chad Knaus said they had to modify the part to get it to fit, but then bolted on a stock unmodified part and ran the race. They cheated, got caught cheating, admitted to cheating, then said they were forced to cheat because of bad parts. Why are 4 of you sitting around a table talking about crappy manufactured parts when HMS had 4 good unaltered louvers the whole time? They were factory stamped. they modified the NASCAR approved louvers to gain a competitive advantage, which is surely equally detrimental in NASCAR’s eyes. But Thanks for dropping a perfect example below the post.
Nascar Management are equal partners with the single source suppliers for the problems with the current version of the next gen cars and until Nascar Management grow some balls and run Nascar the way Big Bill would be Nascar is in serious trouble as far as keeping fans
It would be hard as teams get them directly from the supplier
I'm glad someone said they hate the louvers
I've Said it before... Kaluig Racing NEEDS Jr Motorsports to help them!!!
I'm sure nascar will have to look into it in therefore who knows when the appeal will be. This will be more like a trial than traffic court.
Wednesday morning is the appeal for Hendrick Motorsports
Brett is stuck in the nascar of yesteryear
They have spoken the truth, they have balls, why would they supply a part that doesn't fit, but anyway race on.
What if they modified the louver to be within spec? That's my question. Run an "illegal" stock louver. Or a "legal" modified one?
@@skittlecar1 That is precisely the question in my opinion.
AMEN 🙏 TO ALL!!
You are spot off!!!! The squeaky wheel gets a Flux Capacitor!!!!
Right on men and women, nailed it.
I'm pretty sure it's fiberworks composites.
And kids look up to these guys and Nascar is basically saying kids it's okay to lie so you can win
You’ve got a point. Complete contrast to the expectations of pro players in other sports.
@@rickyshawl508 yep they are basically saying cheat but dont say anything unless you want to pay us
In 2:48 if this playing the gentleman on the right said it we need to go back to when we made our on parts and if that wasn't good enough to we figured it out in on discussions
Maybe a single supplier of louvers was made by Mr. Helton, he is the sole Ice cube supplier at the race tracks ?????
Mike has no power as vice chairman of the board
From what I understand they found out the parts were bad and still let him go race
HMS never raced with the modified louvers
Somebody needs to put wheels on a port-a-potty and put a NASCAR sticker on it.
Mechanics, engineering and creativity were more important to me than the driver. This racing is a nightmare scenario for me, especially that Atlanta crap. I guess it’s just over for me, it’s sad. I have fond memories of nascar and I miss it.
Cheatin Chad whining about this is rich.
Smoothbrain alert.
Hey DBC...what if Joey got the same penalty for last years deal.. Does he win championship?
NASCAR hasn’t gotten their reputation by wrecking people on purpose. This league has tried to become like “stick and ball” sports that they have forgotten what made them famous.
My question is how did Hendrick have the legal louvers on hand and was able to race! They knew they were different!
Didn't others helped out. HMS could of had 1 set AKA the backup car
Cowards are afraid of upsetting the Golden Rulers of Nascar,,,,,,, Theyre killing the sport !!!!!
You are 100% right. NASCAR is becoming like the Democratic party.
Dale Earnhardt Jr should be running NASCAR.
@Scott Goode you got that right. There is no outlaw race car driver anymore..
So it's not gonna be perfect because they have to make it so fast. But you will jail the team for fixing it?
Why didn't all of the Chevy teams have these issues?
Who's to say others haven't had issues but are just putting them on and if the hood doesn't close right it doesn't close right
I love you guys!
If they suck you ‘spot on’ it… pretty simple
Nascar should not be a spec series. Why are these guys mad about Chad saying what all of the other team owners are thinking? The parts are crap. The cars are crap.
I'm pretty sure No team owner is thinking The cars are crap or even crew chiefs. Most of the parts are quality parts. The toe links are designed to brake so something bigger doesn't and the issues with the car from last year are fixed
Chad is just telling the truth. You all need to grow some balls.
Seriously...
You guys sit there and complain that the cars are bad, parts are bad etc. and someone finally has the balls to call Nascar and the parts suppliers out and you guys throw him under the bus. You guys need to check yourselves
These stupid penalties put Brad's entire season in the dust last year.
Good point! Fine and penalize Joey Logano!!!
Nascar was built on stock cars not guys manipulating parts. Of course Hendrick is pissed they have to buy their part as opposed to making their own. And they checked all 4 cars or did they just confiscate all 8? You guys don’t know at all. Why did they take just one from the 31 car? And take 8 from one team?
Everybody pushed the limits and all sorts of stuff.
If teams had enough inventory of them right now They could pick the good ones out for ues
Nascar Needs to take everybody back to the basics and make your cars what they were founded on leave the teams and drivers alone
wish NAPCAR would do a show and tell of what they found.
The Gen 7 still looks nothing like the car it's supposed to represent. Why BS us with that crap? The Gen 4 car could still be viable today with all the safety modifications, and at least it didn't pretend to represent the street car.
False
Who owns the supplier? Helton is on the board of 5Star Bodies...
Nobody was NASCAR owns fiberworks. They went with the lowest bids to make the parts for the car
@@johnhaas2523 check investors. Mike Mittler once told me the only way to make money in NASCAR was to build what they use. He built the tubing notcher, bead roller, and pull down rig among other things.
HMS has admitted to changing the louvers but say they had to. When the NASCAR rules say you can't modify a part and you modify a part, you broke the rules and should be fined. Why does everyone have a problem with this? Chad Knaus said they had to modify the part to get it to fit, but then bolted on a stock unmodified part and ran the race. Why does anyone think Chad Knaus and HMS saying they were more or less forced to modify the part are serious? They cheated, got caught cheating, admitted to cheating, then said they were forced to cheat because of bad parts. Why are 4 of you sitting around a table talking about crappy manufactured parts when HMS had 4 good unaltered louvers the whole time? They bolted them on and raced with them, then claimed they didn't have any. If anyone has more than 5 brain cells it's crystal clear.
What is taking so long on these appeals? I don’t remember an appeal ever taking this long. Granted I’ve only been a NASCAR fan for 3 years.
As far as i can remember, you are correct.
Hendrick appeal is Wednesday morning. When not a DQ or not the playoffs they are not expedited and gives nascar time to get facts and scheduling is also a factor aka appeals panel members being free and whoever from HMS like Chad
Surprise Surprise HMS crying again 😢 😭 more appeals than any other team
7:30 what a chase in 2021 bristol what he did to Harvick he changed the outcome of the race, he's Chase Elliott so he just gets a pass?
Let's face it Chad is one of the biggest cheaters in nascar, and he got caught, good for him
Cheating now was legal before its a race they should be able to choose there cars
NASCAR is really looking more and more like a joke by each passing day
I call BS… its not like the parts showed up on a Friday morning and that was it….these parts were more then a week out, u call and alert everyone that shits not right…
Chad Knaus is literally the poster child for cheating in nascar
yep and just ask Dale Jr. he was also
"innovation" is the word you were looking for.
Mark Martin LOST a championship to Dale Sr over a manufactor error of 1/16th of an inch on a spring
Maybe if the hood won't close you lose your aero and someone else gets the advantage. We're not giving you an out, nor are we telling you you can or can't make your own, to the hood or the louvers. Rules are rules, right or wrong.
Denny is the short end of the stick. LOL
These are a bunch of clowns. They bash the new car for a year, then someone actually calls them out for it and they get bashed for it? Not worth watching. Oh btw, these guys are the competition who is getting their butts handed to them so take what they say with a grain of salt.
Ah BS… mark Martin piss and moaned every day about how much of an advantage Chevy had on ford… damn…it was embarrassing back then…
