Both things could be true. The third party provider could be giving crap parts and the teams could be using that as an excuse to manipulate them a little. I am not sure why you are saying there is nothing you can do about getting inconsistent parts. You can do something about it. You do what Chad is saying. NASCAR and the teams need to hold the parts provider accountable.

    • @erikscherer22

Honestly if it was a 3rd party issue all the Chevrolet cars would have the issue, or if was just 1 bad batch then only one of the Hendrick cars would have failed. The fact that all 4 cars failed (and both louvers on each car were illegal) tells me Hendrick is messing with the air dam that the louvers attach to and in order to make them fit they had to mess with them.

@Shawn Conder from my understanding they didnt volunteer the car to be inspected just the parts, which tells me they couldve been doing something to another part of the car but would rather this be found because it would be easier to appeal. In the older days, teams would purposefully and egregiously incorrectly modify or adjust certain parts just to make sure Nascar didnt find their cheats. So it wouldnt surprise me at all if HMS did this to get by with cheating. Its easier for them to claim the supplier messed up and have to appeal than it would for nascar to just take the win(s) from them by finding it themselves.

Am surprised that Nascar is so far behind the eight ball in terms of standard parts. There is absolutely no need for a single vendor manufacturer and sole distribution through Nascar (ticket clipping?). Do as the Australian Supercars does. Simply issue approved CAD drawings for standard parts and let the teams manufacture to the drawings/solid model files. That way the large teams can maintain in house production and the smaller team either buy from the larger teams or outsource manufacture to local shops. Technical checks at scrutineering to ensure compliance to the drawings. So simple.

If it’s one source parts and only 1 was taken from 1 team and all 8 from another couldn’t all 9 come from 1 batch and the 1 that wasn’t taken be older or newer from another batch? Maybe 1 needed replaced and it came from the same batch Hendricks used because I would assume Hendricks uses the newest parts? Why would all 4 teams manipulate a part? At the same time at the same race? They wouldn’t. They weren’t trying to get away with anything. If they were it’s the worse attempt in the history of NASCAR.

The way the teams made those cars go fast with big horsepower. Bad handling, fast cars with bad ass drivers and every car looked a little different because each team tweaked their cars in different ways trying to get a advantage over the other. NASCAR has basically given the middle finger to the teams, ingenuity, experimenting,R&D etc etc. it’s like putting a model car together now and everyone gets the exact same box of parts. Well we know who the yes man is. If the parts are wrong the parts are wrong. Nascar and their part suppliers have a commitment to the teams to get it right. If they are not, then Nascar needs to be called out to fix it. Hiding it, covering it up and being a yes man isn't the answer. There has to be wiggle room when Nascar cannot do their job and do quality checks the parts being delivered to the teams. It shouldn't put teams in a bind to run old crap because the designs that were approved were not being made correctly.

Legit was gonna say cannibalize the backup car; and even then I wouldn’t put it past Hendrick to have another trailer with enough parts to rebuild two more cars between the 4 teams. Hendrick legit sponsors one of his own cars; there is no way someone with that much money doesn’t have every contingency planned out. Could have had someone just drive them from the facility for all we know.

Is there a thing where they get so many louvers and teams pick which ones they use? Like the Mullet guy said there parts are out of spec in the other series, hoods being too low or high wtf that's a huge problem .😢 Out of that many parts I could see some being different . I know I'm RC racing we used to buy 8 motors , Dyno them and only keep good ones, or use certain ones . Like drag racing guys, get a semi load of clutch discs and only keep barely enough for a couple months of racing and sell the others.

HMS has admitted to changing the louvers but say they had to. When the NASCAR rules say you can't modify a part and you modify a part, you broke the rules and should be fined. Why does everyone have a problem with this? Chad Knaus said they had to modify the part to get it to fit, but then bolted on a stock unmodified part and ran the race. Why does anyone think Chad Knaus and HMS saying they were more or less forced to modify the part are serious? They cheated, got caught cheating, admitted to cheating, then said they were forced to cheat because of bad parts. Why are 4 of you sitting around a table talking about crappy manufactured parts when HMS had 4 good unaltered louvers the whole time? They bolted them on and raced with them, then claimed they didn't have any. If anyone has more than 5 brain cells it's crystal clear.
