Since the law applies to pregnancies that have progressed beyond six weeks, Women in texas, of childbearing age, should schedule abortions for EVERY 4 weeks. If they aren't pregnant, abort the abortion procedure. If they are pregnant, have the abortion because the law wouldn't apply. Pregnant again 4 weeks later, law wouldn't apply to that either and the prior abortion (less than 6 weeks prior) would be proof positive that the Woman was not more than 6 weeks pregnant. Desperate times, desperate measures. Crazy times, crazy measures. The cynic in me says the texas legislators who passed this law are heavily invested in pregnancy test companies. Follow the money! Margaret Atwood got it partially right. Gilead arises out of a border state but it looks like it is texas/Mexico rather than New York/ Canada.
In terms of the human population size relative to the Earth’s sustainable capacity to support it, the reality is we are living in a disaster. The most ethical gift we can give Life on Earth is a chance. This means working to ensure a much smaller, more ecologically right-sized number of humans.
