There's a fantastic Jason Alexander interview series, and in one of the interviews he talks about playing George Costanza and needing direction on the character, and being very flustered and lost early in the show's history, until he realized...George Costanza _is_ Larry David. From then on, Jason Alexander just keyed in on Larry's personality and George Costanza flowed from there. Love it!
My favourite part was that Jason was so confused by an interaction. He insisted that the characters as human beings would never do these things in a particular weird scenario, so he brings it up to Larry David who says 'no that happened to me last month I did exactly this'
I don't know how Larry David does it, but every new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is even better than the last. And they are all great. His creativity is boundless.
@@HelenGPitts thank you so much for the recommendation, I was able to make 90k this year even with covid going on. I had to put in about 200k but I think in the end it will all be worth it.
I think the real reason Larry David can get out of selfies so easily is because the average Larry David fan just wants to see him try and talk his way out of something.
Bret TV You underestimate his value. His responsibility is to make the guests feel comfortable. He’s always there’s to save them from potentially awkward situations. Larry getting reflux in the middle of talking could’ve been embarrassing, but Andy was there to make light of it and turn it into a joke.

It’s the most Larry David meta arc there could be.
What I like about larry is that he actually finds comedy funny. He genuinely laughs at his own jokes and those of other people. Some comedians seem not to have a sense of humor, but an understanding of what people perceive as funny, and they use that as a vehicle to fulfill their need for attention.
@Moni Lein I do not believe substituting "I" for "me" in the third sentence would be correct due to the amount of people involved. "Gave Conan and _me_ such a good laugh"? That doesn't read or sound right. The action, to which I'm referring, in that third sentence is laughing. In that sense, I believe we qualify as the subjects. I think this scenario is trickier than you realize. I'm the one commenting and I'm one of the _two_ who laughed. Ultimately, I think that's what this boils down to, the number of people.
@Moni Lein "Laugh" refers to the _act_ of _laughing_ . While "gave" is an indirect reference to Andy, it isn't a preposition. This isn't a case of "between you and me". Had I solely mentioned myself as the one who had laughed, then I would have used "me". Between the two of us, it is _you_ who has come across as pretentious. I think I can safely add condescending to the list, too.

In my opinion, what is amazing about Larry is that he is almost the same in real life as he is on the show.
