I don't get why people would tell Jerma to not freestyle, when Parappa's teachers literally said that you HAVE to freestyle. It's like saying birds shouldn't fly at all. Besides, freestyle rapping is like working with the funky flow, M.I.X. the flour into the bowl-bowl!

Well, to be fair, you can’t get cool mode ever when you’re playing a stage for the first time in the first game, meaning you have to replay the stage after beating it to get cool mode.

It's kind of funny how little happens in parappa 2 and how few of the songs are remotely relevant to the central noodle-based plot. The game manages to feel like more of a fever dream than the first one, somehow. 'Big' is legitimately the best song in the game though, and Guru Ant is incredible

Gotta admit, there's a somberness to it. Parappa 2 is essentially the final game in the series, so it's like a swan song of sorts.

unsurprised he had a tiny bit of trouble getting cool on parappa 2, it functions way differently than one and has a fuck ton of safeguards against getting it easily. If anybody wants to know, the safeguards come in the form of the meters on the bottom. They basically mean obedience, flow, and groove. Obedience is basically how youre following the teacher, which is the opposite of what you want to do, parappa 2 wants you to substitute more and all the teachers basically say so in the cutscenes. Then there flow and groove, basically both of these just mean you have to time the buttons right and you have to change it up. they basically prevent spamming and make you have to vary the button presses you use and when you use them. Its fun once you get the hang of it but it also means you can get cool mode on literally the second line in hair scare

from what i know, the best way to guarantee cool is to hit most of the backbeats (first and third white star between the yellow stars) and get a good amount of points on the line
the shorter the line, the less points and backbeats you'll need
except beard burger master cause he tells you to follow eXACTLY LIKE I DO but it makes sense cause he’s the tutorial
I’m pretty sure getting cool in PaRappa 2 is easier than 1. There’s strategies easy to understand and execute that work on every stage.
In PaRappa 1 you kind of just have to improvise and cross your fingers.
@@genericperson360 yeah, it's easier to consistently get it. it's hard to get it nonetheless but you can actually be skillful at it. parappa 1 and umjammer lammy use the same system from what i can tell, since i play ujl more, and i've only gotten cool 3 times, all by either accident or randomly EXTREMELY good sounding lines

My dad's a chef and he once did consulting for a gastropub, fixing their menu and such. They wanted burgers on the menu so as a result he had to eat a LOT of them. Now he, too, is sick of them.
I remember hearing the chicken's song's opening verse somewhere before but had no idea where. Turns out it was in an old PBG video from like, 7 years ago. Crazy that I even recognised it lol.
