@@superdave577 No doubt. He couldn't adapt during a game, wasn't an offensive minded coach & look at the losses. He took over a highly ranked team & couldn't get them any further. Frost made one huge mistake when he came here. He talked about how his offense would make Big 10 defenses change the way they played. What he forgot in his football equation was that the talent in the Big 10 is far superior to the AAC across the board. We lost 2+ seasons because of that mindset. Then he had to adapt & start changing the offense. Why do you think Wan'dale & JD Spielman transferred? Spielman was 5'9" & 180 pounds & Wan'dale was about the same size, yet Frost kept trying to pound these guys up the middle. It's no wonder why they were injured a lot. He never made a championship run. He had the greatest defender in history that he didn't recruit and a bunch of future nfl starters that he didn't recruit and won 9 games.
The Huskers weren't Huskers without Beau. He implemented passion to the team. I had the opportunity to meet him at the press conference after the Rutgers win shortly before his termination and he was very cordial and asked if we wanted pictures. Eichorst fucked up when they let him go.
He doesn't have anything to worry about. Neither Nebraska nor anyone else, frankly, wants him. There's a reason why he doesn't have a coaching job. The people here making the comments they're making, well, they wouldn't be making those comments if they worked with or for Pelini. He'd go off on them like he's gone off on others.
@@DeBa1226 he hasn't coached ANYWHERE for 4 years. Where is this great job you're alleging he could get? Based on news reports, it appears he is out of coaching.
Was never able to translate his success from the regular season into championships unfortunately, which is part of why he was shown the door. Media didn’t like him because he wasn’t particularly charismatic, but don’t necessarily need that to be a good football coach. The rut we’ve been in after we sure miss those 9 win seasons and trip to a bowl game every year. I know how trepidatious we are about Rhule being a “rebuilder”, because we went down the same road with Scott Frost who was supposed to be a rebuilder coach and wasn’t able to translate his success with UCF into a much tougher conference. I’ve seen a lot of promising things with Rhule that were missing with Frost so I have hope for the future.
I wonder if Trev would give him a call I mean why not Bo could come back even as D coordinator. He went back to LSU why Not Neb. I think people would love it honestly
Eichorst firing Bo was the final nail in NU's coffin. Now Scott Frost is trying to re build the program and before he is even there for 5 years there is talk he will be fired . The firing of good coaches is the main reason NU has been UN RANKED for a decade.
You keep on and on and on with your enabling. Frost is 4 years in and finished 3-9. Not even close to being on the cusp. Neb sucks because the Big Easy is dead.
@@mas5867 It’s not like Frost hasn’t had a lot going against him or anything. Riley’s players weren’t even working out, the entire 2016 recruiting class transferred (missing a whole year’s worth of recruits is devastating), the pandemic didn’t make things easier, he was dragged through the mud by the B1G and national media for saying he wanted to play football, and we played the toughest schedule in the country last year and could have gone 10-2 if it weren’t for shitty calls and bad luck. I know you see these as excuses but they’re reality. He came into a shitty situation, and has had to maneuver through some pretty tough obstacles. There’s no coach in the country that wants to win at Nebraska more than Scott Frost. So spare us your bitching, there’s nothing wrong with fans being hopefully optimistic about Scott Frost at Nebraska.
I think the media hated Bo more than the fans did. Also some of the very rich donors didn't like Bo's "fiery" attitude, which probably contributed. It was pretty political imo
When people ask if Nebraska is quote back remember the days of pelini and don’t tell me they’re back unless they win titles cause pelini won a lot of games as coach and people never gave him credit because it wasn’t winning titles.
Bo Pellini was not let go only because of his record but because of his outbursts against administrators, fans and officials. He has a bad temper and no political skills. He is a love him or hate him type of guy and won’t change who he is. I like him but many didn’t.
@@mas5867 yeah, but that looks good compared to any one else the last 20 years. He is a good coach and very competitive but the things above ruined him.
Nearly 70 wins in 7 years. How many have they won the past 7 after Bo? Half that? Lol. His record had very little to NOTHING to do with him being fired. The fact he called out bandwagon fans and sabotaging local media types did him in.
@@SuperTripleO calling out bandwagon fans wasn't bad. Fuck em. The media is full of dipshits that wanted Pelini gone because he wouldn't play their stupid games.
Nebraska didn't like Pelini because he didn't appear to be "Nebraska Nice" on TV. So when they fired him they over compensated getting "Nebraska Nice" Mike Reilly and the program hasn't recovered.
At the time this happened tom Osborne in my opinion was forced out like bo said and bo was fired after the Iowa game. Also look what Nebraska football has been since bo was fired. Really sad that a badass coach was fired, and now we rebuilding again
A lot of people blame Solich’s firing for our lack of national relevance the last 20 years, but he was really just coasting off of Osbourne’s success and recruiting was taking a giant nosedive.
I belong to some Husker chat rooms and bringing up Bo Pelini isn't a great topic for some. But I thought he did a great job and his record speaks for itself. There were some academic leaders at Nebraska who probably resented the idea of Nebraska being a football school, but when you look at the numbers of athletes who were Academic All Americans and graduation rates, not only in football but across all sports, it's hard to understand that attitude. Anyway, if I would have been a good enough player to play college ball, I would have wanted a coach like Pelini.
Check 24/7 team recruiting. From 2012 to 2015, Pelini's recruiting classes were getting worse. He would have recruited the 2015 recruits before getting fired late 2014. Talk about an overrated head coach, he was it.
The way he worded it, I took it as a yes he would come back. But he can’t just say yes because think about the drama it would cause at the university. He answered the question perfectly. I also think it could actually happen. I mean, who else if Frost goes?
@@scottyB316 guess you love all the shit wins and more losses sence Bo left. He had fire and passion for the game. We get blah we can do better we can improve cream for all type of attitude. Frost has this season to figure things out then he is gone....
As a Nebraska fan I never got the hate that people were pushing against Pelini. We were one of the most winning and consistent schools in football under him. But everyone bought into this narrative that we could just find another coach and our great program would just keep winning. Now its been how many embarrassing years in a row? Its just so annoying that morons had to ruin what could have been a great thing for many years. You would never see coaches getting insulted like Pelini did at Nebraska after winning 9+ games for 7 straight seasons. You would think after the debacle that came before they would just be happy to be winning. I would also like to add that Nebraska fired Solich after a 10-3 season and a pretty amazing overall record because that just wasn't good enough. The people in charge of Nebraska athletics are delusional and entitled. The genuinely believe we should be like Alabama and be in the National Championship hunt every season rather than just be good every year and every now and then breaking through. And because of that they keep firing good coaches and finding themselves stuck with trash teams for years.

"He didn't comment negatively about Husker fans." Yes he did. He badmouthed fans in 2011 and had to issue an apology. Where have you been?

From a reporter baiting questions and secretly recording.
The fans are horrible wanted osbourne fores for 20 years and every coach since.
That’s 40 years of of constant complaining.
The basketball fans are the same and we’re the worst D1 basketball team of all time. And fans think we should go to the tournament every year.
It’s always funny hearing everybody’s parroted opinion of sports of what the paper would say.
@@mrh3085 yet Pelini's players still won 9 games, gave Riley his best season.
Bo is and will always be a hot head.
Then again, Bo's "replacement" was a pacifist goof. Frost wasn't ready. He needed at least 5 years as head coach at UCF.
Bo in this interview seems to be likeable.
My opinion is Bo was the best. I will always be a fan of whoever he coaches.
Loved when Bo was our coach.
Loved Bo!
Diehard Husker fan, born and raised… I still love Bo and they fucked him over. THANK YOU BO
Taylor lewan popping a zyn is awesome
I really miss Bo.
Thanks Bo!!!
Bo was just like Solich, still looking for our next Osborne!
Fans wanted osbourne fired for basically 20 years
Gene....you do know why Solich was fired right???
@@tonyslupe3828 Because that year Nebraska had a 9 - 3 season that year. I think the athletic director said that wasn't a good enough for Nebraska and the Huskers were slipping into mediocrity. I know Husker fans would love to have a record like that now. Solich was a good coach IMO his record at six years was 58-19, that's an average of 9 wins a year which is an awesome record. Most teams and fans would love for their team to have a 9 win season. Heck, the Huskers now would love to just have enough to get to a bowl game.
The fans would welcome you back Bo. You should of been our D coordinator under Solich for many years, winning championships
Ba ha - no they WOULD NOT
@Jim Wichert since you didn't say we, then I'm assuming you're not a fan, sooo YOU NO NOTHING
@@remmrek Go Big Red - born and bred Husker Fan. Nobody I talk to that are Husker fans want Pelini back. Was Riley a giant fuck up. Yes. Is Frost probably going to get fired too? Yes. In Frost's case - he is not a bad coach - he is in way over his head trying to win in the B1G. We hired a relative rookie HC with no SEC or B1G experience. Not a recipe for success.
@Jim Wichert ...you threw in SEC... Respect Pelini for at least making the N a winning program as HC and DC. Were you part of the they that was murmuring for Solich to be fired? Which led to the snowballing curse that forever changed Nebraskas' awesome unique identity. Are you not going to be patient and let Frosty develop into an experienced HC? He's made changes; he's learning, grab some 🍿 and enjoy the ride
@@remmrek We would NOT welcome back Bo Pelini. And I’ve been a part of the Nebraska football program for over 51 years. Bo had his run/chance. Bo is not an elite football coach. Neither is Scott. Scott’s biggest problem is his talent evaluation is not good. And second he won’t cut loose players that have lied to him about their desire to do whatever it takes to win for Nebraska. He’s kept to many selfish players on the roster. They’re all about themselves. And don’t care about win at Nebraska. They and their parents want that NFL contract. Well they have found out that if you’re not win at the college level the NFL doesn’t want you.
I remember Bo being coach and i was a lot younger back then and when he was fired. I remember hating it and was very sad he was fired, he was a great coach and I know he has his bad moments but all coaches do. I think it was a bad decision but I remember everyone liked Bo and remember my brother seeing him buying oreos at walmart and seeing him at culvers.
Loved Bo, thought it was the beginning of the end when they fired him. Nebraska has had one fluke "decent" season since
Finishing 14 and 20 was not what Neb thought they were. LOL. They would love a ranked team now.
Weird because everything Bo did was a fluke.
Lord, I miss Bo's tenacity on the sidelines
Let’s be honest.. A majority of the Nebraska fan base loves Bo! We were upset at the firing and stood behind Bo and always will. We fn Love you Bo! You were wronged and it’s an embarrassment to the program. God Bless You coach Pelini
Coach Pelini's time at Nebraska was the last time they were relevant. They didn't need ice cream for everyone.
They were never relevant under Pelini.
You did great job coach wish you much success
Bo is awesome a great coach!
I think firing Bo was a big mistake and I think he is the best modern Nebraska football coach...
for sure is
He was indubitably the greatest coach between 2008 and 2014.
The greatest? Hardly and that's why he isn't coaching anywhere and why he has been run out every where he has been.
Look at how Kentucky used him & he was outstanding.
@@jimapplebee5322 Hes carrying on a UNL tradition of injuring smaller/younger players by over/misuse... remember the Wichita Flash? Think of what he could have become had he not been sacrificed to the Big Red program ofthe 90s...
i miss BO
Bo most husker fans were angry when they fired you. I'm a husker fan for life and what you did was incredible and if you were here in 2016. You would have given our team a championship run for sure.
He never made a championship run. He had the greatest defender in history that he didn't recruit and a bunch of future nfl starters that he didn't recruit and won 9 games.
They also did Frank Solich dirty
What about the 18 year old he got pregnant when he was head coach
Bring Back Bo!!
I’m ride or die for Bo
I was ashamed to be a Husker after that spineless firing. Nice emails over thanksgiving break. And after a big W (IMO) also.
i miss pelini
@@fu-fucuddlypoops6583 lmaooooo. if Frost goes. the pedo program finally goes.

@@quinnschroetlin LOL. Frost didn't fire anybody. Papa what's his face AD made that call and it has to grate the F out of Frost.
I think the media hated Bo more than the fans did. Also some of the very rich donors didn't like Bo's "fiery" attitude, which probably contributed. It was pretty political imo
The media created the majority of that narrative. Just like the media has created the hatred for Trump.
As a lifelong Nebraska fan, the way Bo was treated at the end was dispicable.
Dang he was a great coach and in the next year he would have been in the championship picture, terrible that he got let go,
Man, that 2009 Nebraska team beat the hell outta Colt McCoy. Definitely affected him in the NC game. Got one hard hit and pretty much quit.
I like him but many didn’t.
come on man. He finished ranked in the top 20, 2 times. 14 and 20.
This is football not politics.
Why was Tom forced out?
@@greggreg4804 Because Chancellor Harvey Pearlman had hired his replacement. The next step was firing Bo .
Bo got a raw deal it's a slow process
Coach Bo deserves the same that Solich received. In fact, Bo would be the best AD ever at NU, js.
A lot of people blame Solich’s firing for our lack of national relevance the last 20 years, but he was really just coasting off of Osbourne’s success and recruiting was taking a giant nosedive.
This makes me miss Bo. GBR!
GO. BIG. RED!!!
I miss Bo. The Bo haters wanted a replacement. They got the opposite in Riley. And looked what that did.
Bo never won a game that mattered.
as a Badger fan I do kinda miss him XD
Check 24/7 team recruiting. From 2012 to 2015, Pelini's recruiting classes were getting worse. He would have recruited the 2015 recruits before getting fired late 2014. Talk about an overrated head coach, he was it.
@@mas5867 record says it all, boomer
@@gruntpadre5337 No, winning the games so you don't get fired matters.
I was definitely mad when they let him go! And we're still suffering from it!
The way he worded it, I took it as a yes he would come back. But he can’t just say yes because think about the drama it would cause at the university. He answered the question perfectly.
I also think it could actually happen. I mean, who else if Frost goes?
I think it's a yes if the leadership was right but also he genuinely believes there is no way they would call him

Amen, Mike Riley was the opposite of Bo, he had no fire
Bo looks like any dad on Memorial Day manning the grill
Would like to say we still Love Bo.
Edit: Bo 👃
I met him once at a ACE hardware he’s a normal good guy.
Lol at the Tannehill sign Bo had to stare at the entire interview after that referee debacle at Texas A&M in 2010
