The Police Ghost in the Machine [1981]
The Police released their 4th album in October of 1981, at this point they were already superstars both in the UK and the US.
This album features a bit of a new sound for the band, using more synths and horns - leaving behind their spare open sound for a more layered one. The reggae influences are still strong although the guitar is not as prominent as on previous records.
Ghost in the Machine was supported by some amazing singles - including the smash (and one of jenna's personal faves) "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic", "Spirits in the Material World" and "Invisible Sun".
It's definitely the most different sound from all of their other albums.
Also very interesting to discuss the track listing, and the brand new picture disc released with the alternate track sequence. This album is a great example of how important song sequencing can be for a record.
