@@KeithOwen Yeah I was walking near the fairground about two years ago. The multi-lane slide is still there, but it didn't look as impressive as it did when I was a kid! Still made me feel nostalgic though.
same here, was great in the 70,s . loved the fairground, the fun house , the magic cavern , the ghost trains ( they used to have 2 then , that slide where you got into a sack and slid all the way down ( If I remember, you paid 50p to use it many times ) . great times& great weather .

@@KeithOwen I will take your word for it never had childhood holidays there. Porthcawl is still a great place but I wish I could give my kids the time I had there
@@flockthis8392 we used to go to Butlins at Barry Island, very impressive for its time and a big funfair outside on seafront, all Butlins park a housing estate now and most of amenities on sea front gone.
Was one of my favourite places during my childhood in the 1970s. Went there quite often with my parents.
Went there on day trips, and had a weeks holiday at the caravan park, seemed so much bigger then.

Never the same after the water chute was taken down. Sad event. You can still see the iron supports that used to hold up the chute.
Just heard whole fairground now going to be sold off for housing.
Gone down hill since then 😔
Very true, like Barry Island.
