  • A look at the Volks Electric Railway in Brighton - the oldest operational electric railway in the world!
Built by Magnus Volk, it opened in August 1883 - and is still going strong in September 2024, with commendably immaculate cars, both inside and out.
After car 6 leads car 10 into Halfway Station, join me aboard rides on 1901-built car 10, car 6 also of 1910 and then a front seat ride on 1892-built car 4.
All three of these cars were rebuilt with Heritage Lottery Funding after 2017 and restored from a semi-derelict state to full operational working order, as you can now enjoy here.
With thanks to the kind and helpful driver of car 4 on this day, which enhanced my filming opportunity.
