Are most belt usually gold plated and then painted? I only ask because I recently purchased a gold plated belt with paint on spots there shouldn't be. I want to just remove the paint in those spots, however I contacted the makers via email, and the told me the belt was painted THEN gold plated, so if I try to remove the paint it may be silver underneath, is what they told me. Does that sound right?
Paul Martin Belts. What all tools would I need to get started making belts and what paints and chemicals would I need and where do you get the leather for the strap and the gold plates? Thanks Glenn Carter
May I ask you? For the replica titles, their main plate such as the United Kingdom Championship & the RAW/SmackDown Women's Title, what kind of gold plated is it? Definitely not 24k, it has got to be something like cheap gold or something, I am trying to get my replica plates electroplated into new gold.
@@PaulMartinBelts, thanks for getting back to me. Is that how all real belts are made, whether it's for a wrestling promotion for ring use, or for a private collector? I'm curious cause I was having a debate with someone the other day about it. He reckons the original Big Gold made by Charles Crumine was silver, plated in gold. I said "for a starters, it's nickel, not sliver. & Secondly, the plates are made of zinc, then plated in nickel & gold".
Shocked to see that one of the two legendary belt brands would cheap out and just throw some jb weld on the back of it. Maybe they worked out some kind of deal and he did the whole thing cheaper, but if that's standard quality no one should ever buy another Wildcat belt.
Really would love to see more vids of you working your craft with these belts. Very fascinating!!!!
Make more of these videos. Belt reviews are fine but these are unique and educational.
Man, seeing those old belts on the walls brings me back to like 7 when i first found your inspiring channel! Thank you for a lot in my life, Paul!
I've only just seen this comment. Thank you so much. That really does mean a lot!

I'm watching to learn. Could you list the products and tools you use?
Wanted to see how you'd glue the bolts. What do you use?

The replicas don't use real gold
@@titans1127 Thank you Andrew for your reply. I was about to say.
@@titans1127 what is it they use? Paint? I wanna strip one of mine and plate it
Is the core of the plates zinc or nickel?
J W The plates themselves are Zinc. This is then copper plated, followed by nickel playing, and finally gold plating

Would this work for replicas also?

What did you use to make the plates more sliver?
