Jane, you sound like a great person, someone I would like as a friend. You sound like a wonderful wife, and daughter too. I can feel that your heart is heavy, because you dont "feel" your mothers love. Jane, all I can do for you is to _share_ with you something my own Pastor had told me once, as I confessed to him the same issue regarding my own mother. He was a very young Pastor at the time, and I too was in my early 20's. So, I will pass on to you his advice to me, in the hopes that you may derive some comfort out of it. He told me that : " We as children do not have to necessarily *like* our parents, but our *duty* ( _by God_ ) is to *Love* them. The same applies to parents, ( _he continued_ ), they don't have to *like* us, because sometimes, our *personalities* conflict with theirs ---- sometimes, parents don't "get" the kind of children that they hope for ( _the same applies to children who don't get the parents that they wish for_ ); but this conflict of *personalities* should never interfere with the *duty of Love* we must have towards them and them toward us. There are people on this earth who *hate* God, but I tell you this : God LOVES them even more! God's LOVE is like the *SUN* --- it shines down on everything and everyone; it shines down on the *righteous man* and it shines down upon the man who beats his wife + children! God became "flesh" and came down to earth as a Man in order to SAVE us. He came down to save NOT the *righteous man* but the SINNERS --- for the *righteous* do not require SALVATION --- but the SINNER does, and this is WHO the Man Jesus came for! Your mother may not LIKE you, but GOD does. Your mother may not LOVE you --- but GOD loves you tenfold, and He loves your mother too. LOVE your mother, even if you dont LIKE her and even if she doesnt like YOU. It is what God expects of you." His words have stayed with me since that day, and they have changed the way I used to think. Now that I am a little older --- I can see that my mother still doesnt "like" me as a person. This is because I look exactly like my father, and have his personality as well. She hated my father. She had married him only to get out of her parents house. She didnt want children ( _because she didnt want to ruin her figure. My mother was very beautiful when she was young. She still is, but I guess she doesnt feel it._ ) ; and she hated him even more once she became pregnant. Their marriage was bad from the onset. She committed *adultery* when I was 8. I confronted her about it ( _back then_ ) an she told me without hesitation that she didnt love my father. I told her "well, since you dont love him, then I suggest you tell him the truth and divorce him so that he may have the chance to find someone who WILL love him so that he could be happy in his life" ( _yea, I was 8 going on 45_ ) ; I gave her an *ultimatum* on that day : That if she didnt tell my father the truth and ask him for a divorce within a week --- that I would tell him the truth instead. A week came and passed, and she hadnt said a thing about her *adultery* nor asked him for a divorce. Therefore --- I took it upon myself one night at the dinner table to disclose the *truth* to my father. I told him that she was *cheating* on him with another man whom she had introduced me to, and that he needs to *divorce* her so that he could find another woman who will love him and give him a family so that he too could be happy --- and that I would remain with her so that I would not be in his way and a burden to a "new" woman who would come into his life. Needless to say that my father was beyond crushed at this "revelation". I remember him looking at my mother with tears running down his face an asking her "Is this true honey? Please, tell me these things are not true...?" and she looked at him straight in the eye and replied "Yes. Its true. I dont love you. I never have. I love someone else, and I want a divorce. " ... My father got up and walked out of the house, went to the bar and got drunk, came home at 4 in the morning, laid down in the living room and cried like a baby till he passed out. Within a week, my mother had packed us all up and moved us into an apartment her ( boyfriend ) had gotten for her. She ended up marrying him. It didnt even last 3 months. I made sure to make his life *miserable* to the point where he became so infuriated he said "FUCK THIS!" and walked out w/ a suitcase in tow. To which ( _I must confess_ ) made me smile like a Cheshire cat! My father did find a good woman who loved him and gave him 2 wonderful children, when I was 16. I remember he called me and asked me to go and spend the summer of that year over at his new house, and he told me that he had met "a nice woman" --- and also said to me, that IF I wanted to go live w/ him, he wouldnt marry, that he would take care of me, put me through college and also make sure I found a "nice young man" to marry. I didnt wanna do that to him. I wanted him to be happy. He died of a heart attack on the job, at age 48, on Father's Day... My dad was a wonderful HUMAN BEING. He was the kindest and most gentle of souls to have ever walked on God's green earth, and the BEST father a child could have. I guess thats why God took him, He probably needed more Angels in His Army. 😔 I guess this gives you some "insight" as to "why" my mother hates me and has never loved me. Believe it or not, I do love her --- I simply dont *like* her as a human being. I dont like what she did to my father. I dont LIKE *adultery* --- even outside of marriage, I dont condone *cheating* --- I deem it DEPLORABLE for a man or a woman to do! Now, at this age ( _Im still under 35_ ) I have learned to live with it and _her_ . We agree to disagree, and we have learned to *tolerate* one another. She's told my aunt that she does love me, but she doesnt _like_ me as a person. Thats ok with me, cause I dont like her either as a person, but I love her because she is my parent who gave me *life* and raised me. So my dear Jane, *love* your mother --- but most of all : LOVE YOURSELF + GOD.
