I totally get the FFVII love. There is something so magical about it, its tone, characters, writing, combat and music. I think it has a unique approach that almost feels like it shouldn't work but it does. GOW represents a very refined PlayStation formula, but it lacks the same unique magic that FF7 has.
It really is a shame that nobody is talking about Humanity. To see games that are neither PS exclusives, nor PS5 exclusives, on this list, games that are simply re-releases of older games, yet not see what I am pretty sure is a PS console exclusive, that was on PS Plus day 1, and is one of the greatest puzzle games ever (Humanity) is bizarre to me. Not angry or anything. But, genuinely sad to see this game get so overlooked by so many people. Everyone was talking about Cocoon when it came out, calling it one of the best puzzle games of the year. And I'm like...Humanity is RIGHT THERE! Needs more love.

I wanna second Jada siding with Forspoken. In narrative, writing, performances, that game is an absolute disaster...BUT, the moment to moment gameplay is absolutely fucking incredible and some of the most pure fun I have had with a game in ages. The controls are a little cumbersome and it takes a bit to get used to, but once it clicks, holy shit, is it ever rad as hell. No game in years has made me feel like as much of a complete badass as a fully kitted out Freya in Forspoken. That combat system is some truly next level shit that no one fully appreciated because it's trapped in a bad game. Also, Capcom's big new game is 100% the next Monster Hunter, that's not even a question. The series' 20th Anniversary is in March 2024, they're not being subtle.

2 months ago I started rekindling my relationship with my PS3 and Vita, started listening to old Beyond episodes ep 1~9 and 74~200 (2007 and 2008 were boring years).
I don’t think that a game should be on this list if you’re just going to use “It’s not a ps5 game!” As an argument. That’s not really fair or interesting.
I honestly didn’t find this episode very engaging, mainly because I feel like I’ve heard Greg and Blessing’s takes on all these games SO many times on previous episodes (including previous PS5 ranking episodes). And it’s just kind of boring when every ranking it seems like God of War just ends up on top every time. It becomes predictable.
It was a cool world with an interesting story too. I enjoyed it but would probably still be between a 6 and 7 for me, there was too much weird shit like the crazy long pauses where you couldn't move after dialogue etc. That brought it down for me. Would have liked to see a more refined version of it with all the clunky stuff ironed out
Really enjoyed this crossover and would definitely be up for more of it in the future occasionally! Bring Janet and Brian next time, unless that will be too mental 😆
I was shocked to hear from Greg that he thought Disco Elysium was boring!!! 😢 Absolutely one of the best narratives I have EVER experienced and is a staple of incredible writing. FFXVI is also good but the story of Disco is SO MUCH BETTER
Loved this week of KF/IGN cross and everyone on these podcasts. But I gotta say, Jada at 1:19:28 saying she’d rather watch than play Witcher/Cyberpunk and can’t get into sandbox games and then follows up with 100 hours into Cyberpunk absolutely baffles me.

But no, everyone here earned their way into the bracket. The pushovers are the ones who didn't make it. Everyone bringing their best shots now for their game, not calling back to points from earlier in the episode. You want the big finals fight in the first round because you're having it at 28 minutes and not 2 hrs. And it's on the best of the rest to level up and get the spotlight against each other instead of getting obliterated by an obvious finalist, and give them the chance to prove they're a finalist along the way. Either way you still got that heavyweight fight AND you built an underdog.

Elden Ring is my favorite game of all time, so I'd have to go with that. Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be right behind it.
