And ever since Muffins was added to the Cinders team to work on weapons and such, I've seen and used some pretty awesome weapons with remixed movesets, such as Alonne's Bewitched Sword, which has a mix of a scythe, different katanas, and even Sekiro animations topped off with green black flames. On top of that, theres much more variety in builds and tools at your disposal, including spells, rings, consumables, etc. Convergence adds plenty of things Cinders has already implemented, if not done better. At the same time, Convergence also adds some things that piqued my interest for sure, and I wish Cinders had these features (new geometry in each map, even MORE spells, more changed bosses, etc). @@advertisingadrian Yea i'm planning to make a whole walkthrough, but i want to record and comment it, which is difficult with the little time i have, due to work :( However, I WILL play it before Elden Ring releases! Thanks for the motivating words my friend :)
I feel like I need this. I've been thinking about doing a magic or battlemage run in Dark Souls 3, and this is really egging me into playing Dark Souls again, especially since I can't play Demon's Souls and I am anticipating Elden Ring.
So, if there are 3 things that made me hate DS3 after initial couple of playthroughs it's these: 1. Magic generally sucks, with exception of some well timed pyromancies like black flame. By the time a pure caster build is complete dex/str builds can pump vigor or endurance to 40. By the time a hybrid caster is complete, dex/str builds are already 40 vig, 40 end and can pump the other stat to become pure quality. 2. Poise being absent - heavier armors are just pointless. Also, I hate how there is no mid-roll in DS3. there is either the fat roll nobody uses, or the super roll that should be reserved to super agile characters under 25% equipment weight imo. 3. The game is generally more based around quick reaction timing and muscle memory, which is not bad in itself, I love Bloodborne, even got Platinum for it, but it does so at the expense of meaningful decisionmaking in combat - mainly, stamina regen. It's waaaay too forgiving for my taste, but the way most bosses are designed it has to be so fast. Still, I prefered DS2 feel of tactically baiting out attack and punishing with heavy-heavy light combo instead of just dodge and R1 spam. Now, for any brave soul that actually read through the entire rant, does convergence adress any of these in substantial way, from your personal experiences?
I like this take, I personally prefer ds2 for its poise, and I’m a magic nut overall so it sucked seeing such a sad array of magic builds within meta. I’m gonna just bite the bullet with this mod cuz I really wanted a sorcerer fighter feeling for souls like I got with some arcane usage in bloodborne, and I’m hoping this gives it.
as someone who is playing cinders, i agree with that its not what it used to be, im still sticking with patch 1.84, as thats where things are still allright and its fun, but i have read the changelogs and i have no clue to what they are doing now, makes me sad, it was once a very good mod,
A couple questions for fellow commenters: I've played ds3 many many times but I just bought it for my PC to play mods, specifically this and cinders. Should I play through the vanilla game again before hand or can I go straight in?
Another: these giant mods always look fun but im always worried it'll be sensory overload. Does this mod throw you into everything super fast or does it give you time to understand all the new stuff and explain well?
These mods are best played when you have a good knowledge of the game for them to play with and subvert, so I'd say you're good to go and try them. Also for the second question, both Cinders and Convergence are pretty good about not throwing huge amounts of nonsense at you right off the bat, so sensory overload isn't a problem with these ones imo.
@@SilverSeraphym awesome, thanks a ton! Also, if you haven't made one already, I think a video of like 5-10 good ds3 mods would be great, I couldn't find any elsewhere
check out cinders again. I agree that they went away from good things towards the bad things but this version was super fun to run through and collect all items
Honestly, if it weren't for the cinders moveset mod and that king allant boss, Convergence would easily be my favourite and go-to mod for ds3...alas, the cinders moveset mod is just too fun to pass up
Its always insane to me when I see such large mods on a game that has no mods support what so ever. for me its a miracle when people are able to mod games like skyrim where the devs give you tools to do so, let alone games like darksouls where there are no tools what so ever.
I think cinders version 1.75 or 1.82 are the best versions. After that they stopped improving the base game and started making changes for the sake of changes
Question from a DS modding newbie: Can you still play your DS3 vanilla characters in normal DS3 and just start a new character for Convergence or Cinders? Can you play the vanilla game in parallel with the Convergence or Cinders mod?
I never modded DS but am very experienced with Skyrim, the gist is, what you want is usually done with mod manager profiles. If there's such a thing for DS, yeah you can do it easily. If there isn't... probably not.
It is possible but it would be a pain in the ass to switch between them. Unless you are using a mod manager that supports ds3 I just wouldn’t bother. I have 100% completed ds3 on console so idk
This looks amazing but I totally disagree about set bonuses! Fashion over everything and I hope dark souls never stops me from mix n matching by making set bonuses a thing. It'd nerf my already nerfed cosplay builds into the dirt.
As much as I appreciate all the hard work these modders do, it just affirms that, usually, the original vision of a game by its team is the best. Stuffing it full of new content just doesn't feel right and much of it doesn't feel like a natural extension.
Cool mod. Curious for clarification though. If I have this mod and become "soft-banned" as the modders describe, what happens if I take the mod off (and go back to true vanilla)? Do I not become soft-banned anymore?
@@jahromespencer3246 I see. I just have a friend that enjoys the pvp aspect of the game and wanted to show him this mod as something we could do together. I didn't want him to be cucked out of it just in case he ends up not enjoying the mod ya know?

Does anybody know how to get havals outfit I have checked the convergence wiki and it says that it can be found on a dead body in archdragon peak but I remember seeing it be purchasable on a convanent so is it on a dead body or is it a convanent item
Yo how do I increase my new game plus cycle, in Cinders you can go as high as you want. I mean first playthrough is just jokingly easy I would like to go to NG 7 like from the beginning.
You can get the covenant that gives you chaos remnants in smoldering lake. And, also in smoldering is a group of demons and knights that fight. As long as you have good item discovery, it's easy to get a ton in a few hours
One thing as the mod is right now is magic is really, really overpowered for most areas. The target lock system has seemingly no limit in range, making it possible to just kill everything from extremely far away in quite a few maps.
I can’t WAIT!! To get ds3 on pc so I can finally use this mod and cinders afterwards. I love all from soft games already, but everyone just gotta agree mods can make any game better 😂
Man I wish I had dark souls three on PC. I wanna play mods like this one and cinders - but the game is still eighty fucking dollars including DLC, and I just can't afford that.
Unless you're not from the USA consider yourself lucky, because here in Brazil DS3 is like R$159,99 and I'd much rather live in America where it costs just 80 bucks.
Honestly, I don't know why I feel surprised that people can mod entire boss fights because if a guy can hack his character to create an entire boss fight and invite people to fight him, what even are the limitations at this point
I am usually agains fanmade mods because they usually add insane ammount of HP to enemies (as you stated in the video) or just give you very powerful weapons at the beginning, removing any challenge and fun. But thanks to YT and 4chan I learned about Seeker of Fire, great mod for DS2, and this one. Initially I was really sceptical about Convergence because I am not a big fan of DS3, but this video proved me wrong. You, my friend, just "forced" me to re-download DS3 and start Convergence as soon as I'm done with other games. This looks sick.
I recently installed the honest merchant mod and all of a sudden I can’t play online does anyone know where that is should I uninstall the mod and how do I do that
Gonna have to disagree with you on Cinders, to be fair it's been a while since i played DS3 but i didn't notice any new enemy placement. They might have tied it to a little shrine where you can up de difficulty by adding enemies in exchange for more soul gains. You should give it a try again sometimes.
@@SilverSeraphym hey, quick question, i am aware it’s unrelated to the thread but if you were to play this mod without the dlc, would some classes just be completely missing main weapons? Cinders was compleeeetely ruined recently. It's really tragic what's happened to it. Hearing someone else comment on it was cathartic. SO STOP APOLOGIZING FOR YOUR OPINIONS.
I love the job that all mods do maybe except for the ones that just don't do too well and I think maybe the person behind the idea of making that specific mod had an idea that was going to work out but it just didn't happen for them and that's why I feel like they make other ones like this that looks so great I just watching this alone makes me feel like this is something I look forward to when I get my own PC I really wish this was something you could put onto your PlayStation 4 and it just didn't go on to the PC and it would be cool to see it more on other things like the gaming system like there was some way to download it onto there I mean I'm pretty sure there is maybe like a thumb Drive or something like that
I liked the video, but something that stood out to me is that you keep saying mods are for people who just want a different experience but you don't use that same logic when it comes to cinders, for example; you say that to claim that the changing of the tutorial boss is fine because it's just a mod it's not intended for new players, but you count cinders (a mod) breaking lore as a negative even though it's just a mod.
Oh wow. Someone played Divinity: Original Sin 2 and said "But why not dark souls?" and I'm in love. I HAATE HATE HAAATE vanilla DS3 but this is making me reinstall to finish that first playthrough so I can play modded.
If it’s at all like Cinders, only if you’re willing to get softbanned. Then you can invade other softbanned players! (Or get invaded) Take care to make use of “family library sharing” if you want to do this. Either to avoid getting your main account banned, or to have a fallback if you want to play vanilla.
I’m getting it on steam today for 15 bucks in the hope that it does work, but even if it doesn’t work then I got it pretty cheap so I won’t really care
Bruh, I could play DS3 at 50+ fps on a budget gaming laptop from 2013. There's no excuse to not be able to run DS3 today, just go buy some used hardware for chump change.
I've heard of lots of people doing family sharing for that reason, that way their main Steam account can play unmodded and unbanned. I've actually never tried though, I personally just always stay offline with a mod installed.

BUT GODDAMN SOME OF THE BOSSES ARE HELLA AWESOME FIGHTS LIKE SOUL OF CINDER
@@advertisingadrian Yea i'm planning to make a whole walkthrough, but i want to record and comment it, which is difficult with the little time i have, due to work :(
However, I WILL play it before Elden Ring releases! Thanks for the motivating words my friend :)
Really awesome mod. I get a bloodborne inspired feel from certain changes :) well done
“Mods won’t improve the games they’ll just make them different” Skyrim Modders
thank you for this overview video. always helpful when I want to look into playing a mod or not
I feel like I need this. I've been thinking about doing a magic or battlemage run in Dark Souls 3, and this is really egging me into playing Dark Souls again, especially since I can't play Demon's Souls and I am anticipating Elden Ring.
God bless youtube recommendations. Mod looks wonderfull man
So, if there are 3 things that made me hate DS3 after initial couple of playthroughs it's these:
You've just earned a new subscriber, great vid
im so in love with this chaos beam show case, if shits hard, just default
The spells seem OP as fuck.
Thanks for the overview!
Very comprehensive video.
as someone who is playing cinders, i agree with that its not what it used to be, im still sticking with patch 1.84, as thats where things are still allright and its fun, but i have read the changelogs and i have no clue to what they are doing now,
makes me sad, it was once a very good mod,
I'm late but this was a really great mod review
A couple questions for fellow commenters:
I've played ds3 many many times but I just bought it for my PC to play mods, specifically this and cinders.
Best dark souls 3 mod ever. Change my mind
The hermit start is super fun
check out cinders again. I agree that they went away from good things towards the bad things but this version was super fun to run through and collect all items
Honestly, if it weren't for the cinders moveset mod and that king allant boss, Convergence would easily be my favourite and go-to mod for ds3...alas, the cinders moveset mod is just too fun to pass up
This shit's why I want PC.
This is why I'm building a PC. I just need to get my hands on a 3060 series card now or maybe a radeon.
@@iTzLagz1995 good luck with the chip shortage, lol. I've ssen em go for 1k minimum MSRP, it's ridiculous
@@iTzLagz1995 did you ever get your hands on one?
Its always insane to me when I see such large mods on a game that has no mods support what so ever.
for me its a miracle when people are able to mod games like skyrim where the devs give you tools to do so, let alone games like darksouls where there are no tools what so ever.
I think cinders version 1.75 or 1.82 are the best versions. After that they stopped improving the base game and started making changes for the sake of changes
Awesome review 👍
will you do an elden ring convergence mod vid?
loved that one
As a PS4 player of Soulsbornes, I've never come to close to the mod world...this vid has me thinking it's time for a secondary DS3 purchase for PC
just did it man its your turn
I don't know who you are, but amazing video
This looks amazing but I totally disagree about set bonuses! Fashion over everything and I hope dark souls never stops me from mix n matching by making set bonuses a thing. It'd nerf my already nerfed cosplay builds into the dirt.
As much as I appreciate all the hard work these modders do, it just affirms that, usually, the original vision of a game by its team is the best. Stuffing it full of new content just doesn't feel right and much of it doesn't feel like a natural extension.
LMAO
Cool mod. Curious for clarification though.
If I have this mod and become "soft-banned" as the modders describe, what happens if I take the mod off (and go back to true vanilla)? Do I not become soft-banned anymore?
pretty sure you stayed soft banned for awhile. but you can play with others that are soft banned
@@jahromespencer3246 I see. I just have a friend that enjoys the pvp aspect of the game and wanted to show him this mod as something we could do together. I didn't want him to be cucked out of it just in case he ends up not enjoying the mod ya know?
@@wigglezz692 Its a late reply, so it may be too late, but if you get soft banned once, you can NEVER get unbanned. Everyone on the softban server is a hacker or a mod player. You'll never be able to play on the legitimate server again.
though people can make alternate accounts on say Steam to get softbanned intentionally to PVP with mods
Spell casting without staff, FP regen, Seens like the focus is on magic and making the game simpler.
The chaos beam the hell opaf
id like to ask is there a class that is just obsurdly powerful with a few drawbacks id like to try a run like that but there are so many classes to choose from.
Actually very good video
Any Bloodborne trick weapons? I play Champion's Ashes for them.
unfortunately currently no
@@rhysbuxton4437 Thanks for the reply. I'll check out the mod soon since v2.0 came out this past weekend. Give it a bug fix or two at least.
Is it very difficult to put mods into dark souls 3? I know I modded dark souls 1 after some trial and error figuring it out but it took me a little bit of a while lol. I definitely want to mod DS3 though especially this mod here :P.
Is this mod able to play multiplayer? I'd love to try this out with my friends.
You can basically become the Avatar with this mod and I love it.
Does anybody know how to get havals outfit I have checked the convergence wiki and it says that it can be found on a dead body in archdragon peak but I remember seeing it be purchasable on a convanent so is it on a dead body or is it a convanent item
Looks pretty interesting. I think I'll try it, since Cinders was a huge disappointment for me
Yo how do I increase my new game plus cycle, in Cinders you can go as high as you want. I mean first playthrough is just jokingly easy I would like to go to NG 7 like from the beginning.
I definitely want to try this mod but i'm not sure which school of magic choose, i want to try them all xD
Where can I contract the fastest chaos remnant? I need about 350 chaos remnants for the smoldering set
You can get the covenant that gives you chaos remnants in smoldering lake. And, also in smoldering is a group of demons and knights that fight. As long as you have good item discovery, it's easy to get a ton in a few hours
Wait, if you don’t get the dlc and play this, will some classes just be missing weapons?
The game just crashes
Starts 2.17 🤔
They added new bosses on the last update
One thing as the mod is right now is magic is really, really overpowered for most areas. The target lock system has seemingly no limit in range, making it possible to just kill everything from extremely far away in quite a few maps.
I can’t WAIT!! To get ds3 on pc so I can finally use this mod and cinders afterwards. I love all from soft games already, but everyone just gotta agree mods can make any game better 😂
Man I wish I had dark souls three on PC. I wanna play mods like this one and cinders - but the game is still eighty fucking dollars including DLC, and I just can't afford that.
Keep an eye out for steam sales. It goes 75%-83% off sometimes.
then just pirate it mate
Is playable Torrent( illegal) version?
@@theowl5126 No difference fully platable
Unless you're not from the USA consider yourself lucky, because here in Brazil DS3 is like R$159,99 and I'd much rather live in America where it costs just 80 bucks.
this looks fun but that mana regen rate is insane
Honestly, I don't know why I feel surprised that people can mod entire boss fights because if a guy can hack his character to create an entire boss fight and invite people to fight him, what even are the limitations at this point
I want a mod that I can just go through the world and have a easier fun experience haha I've already finished the game without mods
If mods were able to be played on console I'd buy it in a heart beat.
You dont buy mods
where do you trade the remains for titanite shards?
Addendum: Unofficial Patches mods for Bethesda games will only enhance the experience.
I recently installed the honest merchant mod and all of a sudden I can’t play online does anyone know where that is should I uninstall the mod and how do I do that
never use mods while online... you probably got banned....
I'm new to this mod and I'm trying to find out how to get the other spells
Gonna have to disagree with you on Cinders, to be fair it's been a while since i played DS3 but i didn't notice any new enemy placement.
They might have tied it to a little shrine where you can up de difficulty by adding enemies in exchange for more soul gains.
You should give it a try again sometimes.
Can this be played with coop?
Yeah
What happens if you use both convergence and cinders at the same time?
Myazaki will be teleported into your house
Can you play this mod with your friends? Like put down summon signs and all
You can! But it requires passwording it and everything, there are details about doing it on the nexus page, community password and everything.
@@SilverSeraphym thx
@@SilverSeraphym hey, quick question, i am aware it’s unrelated to the thread but if you were to play this mod without the dlc, would some classes just be completely missing main weapons? I’m asking because my computer isn’t great, not even sure if my pc’ll be able to run it that well, and that’s why I’m getting it during a sale, and I am 99.99% positive demon princes, Midir, and gael will destroy my computer.
@@laundrybasketgamers Actually, it'll crash shortly after character creation. It requires both DLC, so unfortunately you need them from the beginning.
@@SilverSeraphym damn. I might get them before the steam sale ends, I suppose. Do you know if it’s the same with cinders?
Cinders was compleeeetely ruined recently. It's really tragic what's happened to it.
Hearing someone else comment on it was cathartic. SO STOP APOLOGIZING FOR YOUR OPINIONS.
OH GOD I'M SORRY. But seriously though, the decisions being made in the most recent dozen or so updates are strange.
I love the job that all mods do maybe except for the ones that just don't do too well and I think maybe the person behind the idea of making that specific mod had an idea that was going to work out but it just didn't happen for them and that's why I feel like they make other ones like this that looks so great I just watching this alone makes me feel like this is something I look forward to when I get my own PC I really wish this was something you could put onto your PlayStation 4 and it just didn't go on to the PC and it would be cool to see it more on other things like the gaming system like there was some way to download it onto there I mean I'm pretty sure there is maybe like a thumb Drive or something like that
What is your starter class
Why cant I use my mods in the game?
I liked the video, but something that stood out to me is that you keep saying mods are for people who just want a different experience but you don't use that same logic when it comes to cinders, for example; you say that to claim that the changing of the tutorial boss is fine because it's just a mod it's not intended for new players, but you count cinders (a mod) breaking lore as a negative even though it's just a mod.
Now I badly badly wish I had a gaming computer for this😭
Hah same me bro. But im playing 15 fps with Souls game. And these videos are now my channel
This is just making me more sad due to the fact that I can’t afford a gaming laptop/pc to mod ds3
can i get the mode on the new ps5?
Okay, but does poise exist?
Oh wow. Someone played Divinity: Original Sin 2 and said "But why not dark souls?" and I'm in love. I HAATE HATE HAAATE vanilla DS3 but this is making me reinstall to finish that first playthrough so I can play modded.
Can you invade with this? New to pc and curious
If it’s at all like Cinders, only if you’re willing to get softbanned. Then you can invade other softbanned players! (Or get invaded)
Take care to make use of “family library sharing” if you want to do this. Either to avoid getting your main account banned, or to have a fallback if you want to play vanilla.
@@jdirksen family library???

Yeah. Cinders has gotten a lot worse over time for me. Mostly cause of the lack of reinforcement.
I wish you showed more of this mode rather than just talk about it
I wish my PC could run DS3
I’m getting it on steam today for 15 bucks in the hope that it does work, but even if it doesn’t work then I got it pretty cheap so I won’t really care
@@laundrybasketgamers Yeah, I did the same. But it was unplayable, so I refunded

Will i get banned on my main if I play online on a alt account?
I've heard of lots of people doing family sharing for that reason, that way their main Steam account can play unmodded and unbanned. I've actually never tried though, I personally just always stay offline with a mod installed.
@@SilverSeraphym btw the games force starts in offline mode how can i play coop
I'm so paranoid of downloading mods nowadays because Windows Defender shows every mod as a virus.
Windows defender is terrible and u should know mods aren’t viruses as long as ur downloading them from a trusted site like nexus mods I turn it off all the time cuz it’s useless
