ULANZI MT 16 mini vlogging Extension Tripod is quite an interesting accessory for vlogging with you GoPro, Phone or mirrorless camera. It also should work with DSLR however i think that most dslrs are quite heavy and you will be risking of your camera falling down if you exceed recommended 1,5 - 2k payload.
The biggest reason I decided to get this tripod is that I needed something small and compact tripod but at the same time with a solid base and extendable for extra reach. I normally use my gopro shorty but certain nightlapses videos that i shot ended up being unstable due to slight wind.
MT-16 is quite similar in design and offers some better quality for half of the price, it only costs you around 20$ whereas GoPro shorty is priced at 40$. That being said I am still going to use both accessories, gopro short is so small and compact that if feels in your pocket, so take it with you even if you are not going to need it.
I really love the fact that the handle of MT-16 is covered with that anyslippery rubber surface that gives you a solid grip, when you attach your camera, an external microphone and some light to it feels more secure and stable in your hand, just wish there was a lanyard so even if you were to accidentaly drop the grip you wouldnt lose or damage your camera.
Another big bonus is that they inclued a cold shoe mount so you can attach a microphone or a LED light to it, please also check another accessory called Ulanzi G9-6 amzn.to/3i1qJKg so you can replace your battery door for a new one and attach either another light or mic to it without a Media Mod !.

The Gopro light mod is meant to be attached with the included mount that came with the light, not stand alone. People that attach it to even the media mount have a difficult (just the opposite) time getting it back off when they dont use the included mount.
I just got one second hand for cheap price and now I have bought SmallRig cage for my GoPro Hero 9, the mic adapter and also Rode VideoMicro II. So hopefully when that all arrives I can use the MT-16

I know this is a bit old but I just got mine and it seems fine for video. Most phones and cameras have stabilization so it doesn't seem to be a problem
the side cold shoe mount made me buy this

Hi Tomasz, is there a column lock on this? You said that the maximum payload is 1.5kg but do you mean vertically? I am planning to get this for a portable LCD screen (ASUS ZenScreen) which weigh 600gram, do you think it is strong enough (fully extended) to hold the ZenScreen vertically?
No there isnt a column lock , i havent tested with anything heabier than a gopro so not really surenif its gonna collapse or not under 600 grams :/

Hi Tomasz. Personally, which would you recommend if I only have to pick one for the purpose of family and travel documentation with a GoPro on it? The MT-08, MT-09 or the MT-16? Also, does the MT-08 and MT-16 packages include the GoPro mount with it inside? Thank you.

Mt 08 and mt 09 are practically the same products except that you have a ball head in mt 08 it can be very good to have a leveled horizon when used on slighlty uneven ground BUT you need a seperate Gopro adapter with MT-08 and buy it ( i guess i havent got it but it seems like that) Mt 09 has that adapter built in already and is ideal for.flat surface as i said they are almost they same.
MT-16 is much longer longer , has a wider tripod legs extension so more stable , U need a GoPro GoPro Adapter but u have that Ball Head to adjust horizon level, and its almost like mini selfie.stick.
I personally use mt 09 its so much better than official GoPro shorty for half of.the price and i gave my mt 16 to my brother in law to use with his canon camera.
I think for you gonna be better to get mt 16 maybe u gonna need a light or that extra extension ?

My mt 16 didnt come with GoPro adapter :) perhaps u have different deal on amazon or sth, u cant go wrong with either of them they are both durable , i use mt 09 cause it fits my pocket and most of the time.dont need longer extension its just convenient and strong enough to hold 2 gopros on a dual mount for me its great mt 16 gonna take some more space in your bag but extend longer

Yes you just need a gopro adapter to make it work but i strongly recommend you to take a look at insta360 2 in 1 invisible selfie stick

Ita mostly dedicated for vlogging , while u dam use it probably in the water ita not as strong as a regular stick for sports

Hey i just checked it gopro 7 and rode video mic pro , on wide you will not see the mic in the shot unless you really angle the mic up , you cam vlog with it without the mic on wide , in linear it gonne be evem better

If you olan to use it with thos trilod it doesnt havr a tight fit and is a bit loose., its a perfect light for gopro media mod though :)
