This is what I was wondering? you cant use active captain while you have a chart card (ie lakevu g3 canada) installed? since there is only one slot? or do you only need the slot to update/transfer data with active captain and then you can take it out and still use the features of auto captain like screen mirroring?
First off, you shouldn't even have to bring your phone to your charplotter to transfer info. But, I digres... Once you purchase "said' $1200 chartplotter, then you HAVE to buy an SD card (because they don't include one, nor do they tell you it's needed) to get everything setup, you also have to download something called "Active Captain"....all just to setup this thing up....neverMIND using it. Now, if you want the lakes in your region, all you have to do is spend MORE money (another $250 in my case for Florida, where half of the charts purchased are for saltwater, which I don't need) at which point, you need to download it to your Active Captain (or wait who knows how long to receive an SD card) then sit out at your boat while it transfers (assuming everything connects properly), because the only power source for the chartplotter is the boat mount itself. *This technology, and resulting "edge" it gives you, prompts me to ask "How it God's name did people catch fish without it".* And, just to reiterate, none of this happens until you learn whatever the f^^k "Active Captain" even is, and how it works, and why it's needed at all. But, once you do!....you can download something called Quickdraw charts, from the Quickdraw community that allows you to access to........uh.......something called Quickdraw charts (rather redundant, I know), that gives you....uhm.....something relating to charts and "quickdrawing". *Again, useless, proprietary langauage for something no one needs, that the unit wasn't purchased for. It's the same'ol crap from people creating technology for technology's sake.* So, you have that "edge" going for you, as well. The only reason I don't send this POS back to Garmin in pieces is because it's bought, paid for, and installed, and I can't return it. NEVER.....AGAIN. I came a hair away from pulling the trigger on their latest trolling motor. I'm glad I didn't. People can say what they want about Hummingbird....I've NEVER had to go through what I'm STILL going through, just to get to a level of fundamental functionality. I've spent 5hrs trying to learn how to use this chartplotter, even on a fundamental level, and have only gone fishing for 3hrs once. *Well done Garmin......well f##king done. You've added a priceless, intuitive tool to make fishing more efficient, affordable (not to mention fun) than ever.*👏👏👏👏👏
Hmm I had mine installed setup and learning what all it could do in about an hour. Maybe you’re just not very intelligent. Just saying most people really like Garmin. I know I have 3 units that function flawlessly.
@@jszorc3488 JFC...tell me you a more well thought-out insult than that. The hypocrisy of that reply is astonishing. It's like you have some jerk-off form of turrets, and just happened to land on my comment, and you're taking a break from looting stores, and just happened to land on this video, and my comment. It's not the insult, it's the fact that you have no business "wondering" about anything. Your stupidity is more insulting than this comment. If you're going to be a d-bag, then at least be an intelligent one. Go read that back to yourself in the mirror, and come back and tell me if you didn't wind up trying to floss with your own knob, before you get to the end of it. Good stuff. Thanks
Looks very handy
Good luck installing a PRE PROGRAMMED CHART CARD!

I had previous waypoints on my Garmin. Yet the Active Captian synced up showing those points where no water is. Kind of sucks, but you can use it.

Just wondering. Did you graduate high school or were you home schooled?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

No a good explanation of how to use it. You could have done a complete demonstration.
There's a very good reason for that. If people knew what it took to get this thing setup with the lakes you use, they'd NEVER buy this thing.
Doesn't work. Active Captain and Garmin Express are duds.
