Since you mention it, the anime had been catching up to the manga for a little bit now. That's why the pacing of Z is a bit different and there's more filler episodes.
I really get shocked by how so many Kai Enjoyers just can't stand filler episodes. I get that Kai can be a tighter story but why not enjoy the journey even if it's "not canon." They come off as just wanting the dopamine hit of hyped up action and flashy aesthetic rather than a tighter story.
I don't actually like this or the next episode ... The two episodes with the space kids was good though. So it's always a hit or miss for me ... and if you actually want to hit the action, Kai gets there a lot faster xD But still, for a first time reaction original DBZ is a lot better for various reasons. For a rewatch, I'd always go with DBZ Kai though.

Events that leave all the characters and the greater world completely the same as before they happened is in fact a waste. We get it you like the filler, nothing wrong with that but it quite literally doesn't build towards anything because it can't since they still have to align with the manga when it's all said and done
@@IndraTydeI enjoy filler in other shows but for Dragon Ball Z specifically most of the fillet directly contradicts the story or prolongs the story and ruins the pacing. The Freeza saga especially which I would consider the best saga in Kai was completely ruined in z because of the horrendous pacing.
Also, most of the backstory give to the Saiyans so far is completely wrong and is filler. It may expand the story for maybe a moment but when it's contradicted it just seems like a waste of time. The only good fillet episodes I would say are the two arcs as they occur in time skips so they did need to worry about pacing.
Though I love DBZ KAI, I like that the original has more episodes to make the world of Namek feel actually full of more than 6 Nameks like DBZ KAI did.

same, but mostly because it makes the real planet Namek less fun to discover. The actually adventure they have on this fake planet is refreshing at least and brings back old DB vibe. So the content is not the issue, but how they used it is really annoying.

Episodes like these are why I like to watch the fillers in DBZ and why I’m not a fan of DBZ Kai.
