Bridget Kolish Yeah, they should have titled this video "Mass Effect for Idiots". I imagine anyone who enjoys any rpg would figure this out fairly quickly.
Bridget Kolish Guess some people are too focused on the alien porn or looking for things to complain about on youtube to be let into the "cool kids" club to think too much about the rest of the game...
I've just started playing the game. After getting tired of/understanding that the menu options were mostly re explaining stuff we older mass effect players already knew (besides the new Andromeda related stuff). I guess all that codex crap in the beginning is to introduce new players. Any option you select, besides the "save game" and" game" options, all lead you into another menu that have the same options available (I haven't got far enough to unlock whatever "profiles" is but I guess that'll end up being there too.) Long story short the menu screen is kind of redundant. I haven't played the game long enough to confirm if all things listed in this video, but the mention of "forward stations" never being told to is bs. Forward stations are explained by Director Tann when you first meet him on the Nexus. I hate videos with these stupid labels getting people to click on them. "12 hidden mechanics mass effect Andromeda never tells you about" my ass. They should rename it: 12 mechanics that would be useful during your play through of mass effect Andromeda... When playing these games you really should talk to everyone you can, because most of the NPCs do provide useful information...just saying.
Every system has an anomaly? Really? Don't bother exploring planets? Really? C'mon man, I know it's a mad rush to get out content on new games, but you really shouldn't be giving this kind of poor and misinformed advice.
Each time you click on a planet, you will be forced to watch unskippable 30 seconds cutscene of your ship flying to it. Space exploring and flight is pure frustration in Andromeda
Vadim Kidalov couldn't disagree more. I love the space flight animations, they're a gorgeous way of handling load times. Now the Tempest landing sequences on the other hand... Buggy as hell.
If you want to have a really fast power recharge rate I recommend using the carnifex and a hornet. Both are pistols so they don't weigh much, but they're both really good.
thegreatmoustachio Yeah, Sidewinder or Carnifex are both great "sniper pistols", then accompany it with a Hurricane/Eagle/Talon/Equalizer, or any quick short range dps pistol.
I have 4 different weapons and all under the weight restriction. I have a shotgun , a sniper rifle, an AR, and my pistol. I use the pistol and the sniper mostly. The lanatt kett sniper IS VERY good with the plasma seeking system, and it has the longest range of any sniper that I can tell. It might take a moment for that projectile to hit, but when it does.. 😂😂
The aspect of exploration and details in this game are incredible! The crappy facial animation are just minor I'm sure the devs are able to patch this minor problems.
So forward stations are like camps? Mining stations are similar to Quarries and Logging... AVP rewards are similar to Inquisition Points.. Research/Development points are essentially crafting recipes.. Inquisition in Space...
DAI in space yes. But closer to the fuller vision DAI was supposed to be.. in space. Forward stations are more practically useful than camps, mining stations provide more of a consistent bonus that you'd have wanted from quarries and logging, AVP doesn't feel so tacked on, crafting isn't as unpolished, etc. And they probably took note of DAI questing complaints and put relatively more story in the open zones than earlier intended. Still weaker design than the game should have had, but they did learn a little.
Bruce Alrighty so what were you expecting, for the reapers lomg lost twin brother to show up so you can have another galactic war ? I'm pretty sure the marketing made it clear this is EXPLORATION focused game.
Thanks - good stuff! Been having trouble selecting between the various main and side quests I'm tracking at any given time - wish they had them listed by description in the Journal UI (like Skyrim) that was easy to select from... The map is a little clunky, especially since it always opens at super zoomed out detail. Still haven't figured out mining with the Nomad either... Still so much to do, but having a great time trying to figure it all out and doing it!
Some of the quests under "Adittional tasks" require you to explore and find a specific thing to scan to continue the quest. And they do not provide a tracker icon for these . Have fun. ❤
Wow just started the video and the first thing they say the game doesn't tell you about is forward stations. That is one of the first things the game told me about on Eos. Mining was told to me once I placed my second forward station. I will admit scanning for anomalies was not explained but by not scanning the planets you are missing out on large resource picked and valuable research points Unless you skip the mission to unlock AVP rewards it tells you it's not automatic The game tells you about research points. It tells you how to use them and how to use the development Leveling up is a basic part of any RPG and the game frequently tells you you have points to spend. The load out suggestion is a good one. You don't realize how much you power recharge really matters. Not really a hidden mechanic but it is not explained well in game. The is a good entry As they said in the video romancing wasn't explained so unless you know the series you can miss it Remnant guns at awesome. Nomad mods are a must I thought the track multiple quest one would be helpful. But nope it was useless as you are still only tracking one It is obvious with this video the people at GameRadar did not pay attention to there game. I usually like these videos. But this one was useless for me. And mostly useless for anyone who pays attention to what the game tells them.
the loadouts are the bestbfor multiple class setups. But when you switch between them your abilities reset the cooldown. But you have systematically switch between class with profiles and abilities with loadouts
also worth it to remember you dont have to go back to the tempest to get onboard, when in the nomad just press T for a few seconds and you will get a pickup from the tempest
HERE'S A TIP! USE REMNANT WEAPONS! Although they have cooldowns, they still have unlimited ammo. plus there are mods that increase the clip size to shoot longer. Example: Crafted PAW rifle with increased Dmg and shock augs. then mod it with increased clip size.
Mate, you scan each system a couple of times as some have multiple anomalies. Also, scanning the planets gives experience, minerals and scrap AND vital research points. That's why I finished with level VIII armour, weapons and mods.
I think I'm one of the few people that found this video helpful. I know it's all explained in the game, but some of it I overlooked or forgot. Like only using Milky Way points and not checking avp between missions
I think if you unlock a gun blueprint to lvl 3 it gives you a chance to find that gun without building it..i researched a sniper blueprint to lvl but dident have the matrials to build it so i went farming on a planet for resorces and found the lvl 3 gun i was trying to build in a container
I do not know if the game explain about this o not but i do not see player use it in MP... That is, smash ability... Jump+melee, gives you an AOE smash on the ground regardless of ability and profession.. very useful skill..
Some of the other planets in systems have anomalies to investigate as well, so it's best to check out all the planets in a system. It really doesn't take that long to do.
Seriously underrated game 15-20 hours in! WAY better than Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age 2 and ME3 imo! (Biowares last few games). There are crap facial animations but it doesn't ruin it for me, especially when the other aspects are so well done. Awesome graphics for the planets, improved gameplay, improved combat, great planet exploration, Performance is good (On pc) and the game has a TON of content. I usually don't usually enjoy big mainstream rpgs as much as my CRPG;s, but this ME:A has been a nice little surprise. Far from perfect, but it is way better than it is getting credit for.
KatalistProductions-Kozzy-Sasha don't know about being better then inquisition but still a very good game just need to fix the animations.ps I'm partial to mid- evil games.
¸Thank you for making a video about Andromeda that doesn't mention facial animations. My face is tired of everyone talking about freaking facial animations.
How about Holding Y when in the Nomad to auto-teleport to the Tempest??? That pissed me off when I found out I could do that and spent all that damn time traveling to leave areas like the slums of Elaadan.
I already knew all of this, the only thing I missed out early on was the right click for the Nomad, what a pain in hindsight on the first planet. Either it was going to slow, or I couldn´t climb something ..... feel like an idiot but must have missed out on a tutorial and for some reason I didn´t quit to google, eventually after a couple of hours I found out how it worked.
I wouldn't tell people to go for combat fitness. They should sink all of their points into one class. Because you get much stronger that way. For example, sinking every single point into Tech makes you a great Engineer. I'd never waste my points on combat fitness. Let other party members take care of toughness and strength. You don't need it.
All in all MEA is a fantastic game in my opinion, it delivers all i want in a sci-fi space opera adventure game and if you love dialogue like me it's even better. almost makes up for not being able to customise your crew.
Not that the information is useless, but if you can't figure any of these things out, especially when playing Mass Effect, you probably should learn how to pay attention. With that being said, this game is fantastic and the animation flaws (which aren't present all that much) are pretty funny and anyone with a sense of humor would get that.
These aren't "mechanics", they're player decisions. They're also not hidden. The game is in your face constantly to drop forward stations, mine, use research points, and spend AVP points.
If andromeda had more elements of creativness such as building and more customizations it may could remind of an old awesome game I enjoyed playing a lot.Spore (and also some elements of civilization stage from the game, that would be pretty dope)
Most of these things aren't hidden mechanics. Also mining does not matter and scanning anomalies doesn't matter also unless its for a quest. Most anomalies that you can scan either yield a small amount of EXP, research points or minerals. Also the reason why mining doesn't matter so much is that crafting the right gear and weapons only becomes more important the later in the game. And by that time you'll be loaded with minerals. Also the reason why i feel that crafting isn't important until later is because i played over 50% of the game on Insanity without even knowing it. And it didn't feel like Insanity because the gear i crafted early on was already so good.
These are not hidden mechanics! This is a 'Things to do' list. A hidden mechanic would be something like...oh I don't know, how certain Augment mods will lower the damage or clip size of your gun, or make a gun never have to reload, ya know, things the game does not tell you at all, but still happen.
Disappointed that you didn't pointed out the fact that you can extract while in the Nomad by Holding down "T" :/ That is maybe one of the only REAL hidden mechanic .. And for those who didn't knew this .. your welcome :)
Thanks for the information, although any "true RPG player" will figure these details out in a short time :) But, not all are like that so definitely useful data for them.
these aren't really "hidden" though... MEA'S mechanics are basically the combination of the ME and DA trilogy (especially the Inquisition). so if you're a hardcore fan of BioWare RPG, you're probably kinda familiar with mining, forward station, etc.
I've easily poured 37 hours when I just checked on origin into this game. without even realizing. I missed fucking school today because the mains storyline had me by the balls. this is a pretty good game and a good tip: crafted weapons and armour are the best. remnent chest piece is also one of or the THE best chest in the game. depending on the level ofc. sandstorm rifle rapes also. it's a milky way research AR but it's more like a dmr
This game is VERY good. I get the impression that BW was going for what made ME:1 good and made it better. I'm happy to see there are gamers out there enjoying this amazing journey as much as I am. Cheers.
Wait wait wait... You're using your biotics wrong if you think they're under underpowered. I clear normal enemy groups in seconds with my Vanguard maxed out Asari sword combo. Plus that biotic melee can get me from one side of the battlefield to the other in a split second... And with upgrades there's almost no cool down.
here is the whole vid summed up in a few sentences with my personal twist on it (nothing of this is actually "not told by the game") 1st do forward stations (coz fasttravel) 2nd mine whenever you pass over zones in nomad 3rd do those anomalys (personally i think thats redundand coz most of them are just minor stuff and few exp) 4th avp is not automatik just do them whenever you are on the tempest 5th / 11th collect that sweet reserch juice (coz crafting makes stronger weapons) 6th collect recources for crafting 7th / 8th go for all passive stuff that will benefit you in general (defensive tech/biotics, combat fitness and weapons of your choice) 10th suprise there is romance in this game 12th do nomad upgrades (all you realy need are speed related upgrades) 14th (since either hes self aware of the repeats or he simply cant count) you can "track 2 quests" by not being retarded and use the manual ping on the map for another quest
I'm sorry but if people didn't find any of these mechanics it's because they aren't used to reading or at least paying attention to the dialogue. Most of these are mentioned and even have side quests that help you understand the functionality better. I'm all in for giving critical opinions for stuff but this sort of thought process, when judging a game like this, is what makes game developers dumb down there games and cut stuff out for the sake of making it easier.
You need to rename this video, "12 mechanics that become immediately apparent when playing Mass Effect: Andromeda".
So, how are these hidden mechanics? It tells you all this stuff!
Bridget Kolish Yeah, they should have titled this video "Mass Effect for Idiots". I imagine anyone who enjoys any rpg would figure this out fairly quickly.
Grim Revan The UI can be rather clunky but figuring everything out was still easy.
Bridget Kolish Guess some people are too focused on the alien porn or looking for things to complain about on youtube to be let into the "cool kids" club to think too much about the rest of the game...
The game does not tell us these things. A lot of this has to be figured out.
I've just started playing the game. even so, it's just wrong XD

Thanka for the misleading title... the game tells you ALL of this stuff, simply pay attention.
I guess he was too busy looking for a wabbit to hunt.
I'm going to hell for this, I know.
The aspect of exploration and details in this game are incredible! The crappy facial animation are just minor I'm sure the devs are able to patch this minor problems.
wooow finally someone who isnt completely bashing this game for no reasons, nice one mate.
I recently picked this game up.
My first mass effect game. Its incredible .
I dont understand why it received so much hate
So forward stations are like camps? Mining stations are similar to Quarries and Logging... AVP rewards are similar to Inquisition Points.. Research/Development points are essentially crafting recipes..

Who cares if it's closer to the vision they had with Dragon Age? I wanted a Mass Effect game...
A lot of it is actually close to the intentions they had with ME1. People just ignored that, or even started with ME2 and wave off ME1.
Bruce Alrighty so what were you expecting, for the reapers lomg lost twin brother to show up so you can have another galactic war ?
I'm pretty sure the marketing made it clear this is EXPLORATION focused game.
+Bruce Alrighty So what you want is a corridor shooter? Cause that is the only thing that goes away with these changes.
Fun game so far. Except I always talk to everyone and there are a LOT of conversations in this game.
Spawn Cap first mass effect game?
inFamousxable No. A lot more conversations than any of the ME games.
Spawn Cap Lol yea its definitely the first
Spawn Cap The the dialogue!
almost makes up for not being able to customise your crew.
i love the way you say mineral, anomaly, and reward
When on a planet, hold down "T" to board the Tempest immediately, no matter where you are at the planet. It saves a lot of time.
Thanks - good stuff!
Been having trouble selecting between the various main and side quests I'm tracking at any given time - wish they had them listed by description in the Journal UI (like Skyrim) that was easy to select from... The map is a little clunky, especially since it always opens at super zoomed out detail.

Can you romance a krogan? I'm asking for a friend...
No
No way that human would survive that!
Alternate ending: Death by snoo snoo
Iron Fox i think bioware should make merchandise contract with bad dragon dildos...
Inkswitch 😂😂😂😂😂
thanks. I'm literally starting tonight and this will help
thanks for giving me all these hidden mechanics that are just openly found mechanics that you explained
How you add a way point or add another marker besides the main one when doing quests?
Justyn Rufus Etienne push A/X
Thanks!
Thank god Harambe thought me to never be afraid to just whip my 'scanner' out.
is there no way to quick switch between profiles? Favoriting seems kind of pointless if you still having to go in the start menu..
Wow just started the video and the first thing they say the game doesn't tell you about is forward stations. That is one of the first things the game told me about on Eos.

I will admit scanning for anomalies was not explained but by not scanning the planets you are missing out on large resource picked and valuable research points
Unless you skip the mission to unlock AVP rewards it tells you it's not automatic
The game tells you about research points. It tells you how to use them and how to use the development
Leveling up is a basic part of any RPG and the game frequently tells you you have points to spend.
The load out suggestion is a good one. You don't realize how much you power recharge really matters. Not really a hidden mechanic but it is not explained well in game. The is a good entry
As they said in the video romancing wasn't explained so unless you know the series you can miss it
Remnant guns at awesome.
Nomad mods are a must
I thought the track multiple quest one would be helpful. But nope it was useless as you are still only tracking one
It is obvious with this video the people at GameRadar did not pay attention to there game. I usually like these videos. But this one was useless for me. And mostly useless for anyone who pays attention to what the game tells them.
ty so much this will come in handy ps im stuck i researched heat sink its in my inventory but i cant apply it to my gun what do i do?
the loadouts are the bestbfor multiple class setups. But when you switch between them your abilities reset the cooldown. But you have systematically switch between class with profiles and abilities with loadouts
I did not know about weight affecting powers charge. Also, I just had 2 upgrades on the nomad lol, more boost and higher 6 wheel drive speed
also worth it to remember you dont have to go back to the tempest to get onboard, when in the nomad just press T for a few seconds and you will get a pickup from the tempest
I want this guy to say "cool whip".
I like to think of him as a young Jonathan Ross. And I love it. "Wearry."
Great Video! Thank you for all the info! :)
Go to settings/gameplay to turn facial animations on.
A tip: you can increase the cast Range on biotics if you zoom with a sniper rifle
ctrochc Thats probably a thing for tech/combat too. I assume
Mate, you scan each system a couple of times as some have multiple anomalies. Also, scanning the planets gives experience, minerals and scrap AND vital research points. That's why I finished with level VIII armour, weapons and mods.
5:17 what planet it this?
I think I'm one of the few people that found this video helpful. I know it's all explained in the game, but some of it I overlooked or forgot. Like only using Milky Way points and not checking avp between missions
THE SPEECH IMPEDIMENT IS SO BAAAAD
Vewy wedy-very ready
you mean when you put your custom map marker on a quest you can follow it? i would have never found that hidden cheat myself
I think if you unlock a gun blueprint to lvl 3 it gives you a chance to find that gun without building it..i researched a sniper blueprint to lvl but dident have the matrials to build it so i went farming on a planet for resorces and found the lvl 3 gun i was trying to build in a container
did you know on kadara you can dive the nomad into the lift in the slums and leave from there
I wonder what gun Peebee is holding in your thumbnail?
I do not know if the game explain about this o not but i do not see player use it in MP... That is, smash ability... Jump+melee, gives you an AOE smash on the ground regardless of ability and profession.. very useful skill..
4:38 *Well, hellooooooooo*
Biotics not doing enough damage ? Try Pull/singularity/throw(Pull; AoE, damage, shield damage. Singularity; Aoe, shield, explosions. Throw; AoE, duration, combos damage. Offensive biotics; recharge speed, combos damage, boost damage after using a biotic power) I barelly ever use my weapons.
I would like to add that you can hold T in the nomad to extract to the tempest witch is fantastic. (unless the game told me that and I didn't notice)
Some of the other planets in systems have anomalies to investigate as well, so it's best to check out all the planets in a system. It really doesn't take that long to do.
You forgot to mention the reconnaissance perk that enables you to see hidden caches on planet!
Very useful. It's how I've been getting most of my top tier augments and mods.
PLEASE SCAN THE PLANETS. he said to ignore the planets but halfof them you scan yeild anomalies.
Good advice, but nothing I haven't figured out in the first 8 hours.
whats it called? elderwin?
Seriously underrated game 15-20 hours in! WAY better than Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age 2 and ME3 imo! (Biowares last few games).

ugh why did it create a link to no were.
You can respec, in the med bay there is a small console that allows you to respec.
augment your weapons it makes a big difference
How do you unlock new galaxies
¸Thank you for making a video about Andromeda that doesn't mention facial animations. My face is tired of everyone talking about freaking facial animations.
Anyone actually paying attention rather than button-mashing through the entire intro already knows these...
These were all rather obvious and pretty well explained ingame.
The number 11 hidden mechanic is that the guns of the mass effect universe can fire from behind.
1:35 makes me think of nemo trying to say anemone.
other than that, nice video
you can respec the pathfinder in medbay, hidden console, but it has a fee that gets higher every time.
How about Holding Y when in the Nomad to auto-teleport to the Tempest??? That pissed me off when I found out I could do that and spent all that damn time traveling to leave areas like the slums of Elaadan.

damn cora where'd you find that
The 12 hidden mechanics everyone already knows about. Game doesn't have to tell people what they inevitably will do during a playthru.

Most of these things aren't hidden mechanics. Also mining does not matter and scanning anomalies doesn't matter also unless its for a quest. I didn't know Elmer Fudd worked for Game Informer
Disappointed that you didn't pointed out the fact that you can extract while in the Nomad by Holding down "T" :/
That is maybe one of the only REAL hidden mechanic ..
And for those who didn't knew this .. your welcome :)
Thanks for the information, although any "true RPG player" will figure these details out in a short time :) But, not all are like that so definitely useful data for them.
Suggestion you should use yourself, considering that you've contributed absolutely nothing even remotely useful, other then your pointless drivel.
these aren't really "hidden" though...
MEA'S mechanics are basically the combination of the ME and DA trilogy (especially the Inquisition).
so if you're a hardcore fan of BioWare RPG, you're probably kinda familiar with mining, forward station, etc.
90% of these "hidden" mechanics he mentions are blatantly obvious in-game.
0:35... That's pretty nice

@1:34 did you just say anolomy ?
Hidden how. The game tells you about all these as you play it. We're you stoned when you made this
grate video.
I wonder why is the text in game menu or subtitles so small...why!!!!!!
GeorgioDavid what
but planets have anomalies too, so you SHOULD scan them all
Wish there was a better way to bring up the map
So , is anyone else having trouble finding milky way tech to scan ?
Go to the pirate planets, there are tons. Also the AVP research perk reward grants 100 Milky Way tech points every in-game hour.
I dont think I've been there so far . Is it Eos ? Will I end up there eventually if I go follow the main quest ?
Vincent Bédard kadara is one and like ellegan I think it's called. ios might have some but if you do the ark missions I think that will give you some
Vincent Bédard Kadara is your friend.
Nevermind that , I've found PLENTY of those on Kadara and Elaaden .
You can reset your power skill by going to dr. t'perro medbay on the tempest ust in case you screwed up leveling. You can thank me later.
I flagged this clickbait title. Keep up the good work.
Vewy big, vewy detailed indeed.
4 mins in still waiting for something i didnt figure out on my own
I realized you can fast travel once I got 80% on Voeld, 100% on Eos and 60% on Kadara and Havarl....
*facepalm*
Definitely not hidden at all. This is I guess useful for someone who has not started it yet. Thought this would be for someone who has..... but nope.
Having only played the ten hour trail I feel like the majority of these mechanics are explained fairly thoroughly ... hidden or not in your face?
how is placing a waypoint while tracking a quest considered a cheat thats just being smart?
When I play this game I would always ask Cora for ASSistance 😂
here is the whole vid summed up in a few sentences with my personal twist on it (nothing of this is actually "not told by the game")
1st do forward stations (coz fasttravel)
2nd mine whenever you pass over zones in nomad
3rd do those anomalys (personally i think thats redundand coz most of them are just minor stuff and few exp)
4th avp is not automatik just do them whenever you are on the tempest
5th / 11th collect that sweet reserch juice (coz crafting makes stronger weapons)
6th collect recources for crafting
7th / 8th go for all passive stuff that will benefit you in general (defensive tech/biotics, combat fitness and weapons of your choice)
10th suprise there is romance in this game
12th do nomad upgrades (all you realy need are speed related upgrades)
14th (since either hes self aware of the repeats or he simply cant count) you can "track 2 quests" by not being retarded and use the manual ping on the map for another quest
Just in the middle of class trying to learn some shit and outta nowhere ... whaddup hip gyrations and coras butt
For a video that should provide help for people just starting the game I didn't expect to see major SPOILERS... :(
