    A lot of content-makers facing health issues that make speech challenging would stop talking on camera. You, Mike, are a fantastic example how how to handle such a challenge face-on and share necessary information with the audience with no hint of self-pity. As soon as I read the 'disclaimer' at the front of the video, it stopped being relevant that your speech might be slightly different to earlier times and I focused entirely on the excellent content. I'm full of admiration and respect for you. Very classy, sir!

    Hi, Mike. It's been a little while since I last visited your channel, and was unaware of your health issues. For me, at first I felt sorry for you, but then I realised you're not the kind of guy who wants pity or to be treated any differently than previously. You could easily have turned away from RUclips, particularly as you always speak a lot in these videos. I really admire your attitude of just carrying on regardless. In a trivial way it reminds me of the blue Partscaster you built. You had almost finished "the finish" in a beautiful blue, and as I recall you had left it hanging in your dad's shed for the final coat to dry. Came back later to find it had fallen and left a lovely scar in the new paint job! Your reaction (after much swearing and gnashing of teeth I guess!!) was to just sand it down and start again. I never did see what became of that guitar, but I was impressed with your "never give up" attitude.
    With your current issues, I can see your frustration, but please know there are people out here rooting for you!
    Please keep up the vids, but also know that we understand and will not be turning away if we don't see you for extended periods.

    I just commented on Paul's video because I had concerns it was fake too. Not only does the circle patch move on the back, the line of belt buckle rash on the belly cut is angled wrong too! Hendrix's lines up to it points to the underside of the top cutaway horn, but the guitar in the video angles towards the top of the cutaway. Go to 1.55 and 3.50 in this video and watch it in slow-mo. Do a DNA test on possible ‘sweat’ in the pickups, swab them, but having said that, if someone was to replicate it and missed the details, it would be a major blunder. It would be unlikely to be a fake. Also you need to count how many black 65 strats were produced and in USA at the time; presuming Jimi got it there or was brought over from England. There must be a receipt somewhere for it? Maybe from Manny’s New York? Just throwing it out there. Intriguing video. Keep up the excellent guitar channel. ✌️👍

    Howdy buddy, let me just chip in and say that before I recorded the video I got a very long detailed PDF booklet about the history of the guitar. I would have loved to share some details before you made this video. The history of the guitar is pretty well documented from when it left Jimi's hands till now. I've got affidavits from the manager at the time to the roady who transported the guitar that they confirm it's the guitar I had in my hands. Also there's letter from Fender to the auction house saying that after close inspection they believe the guitar to be authentic. And there's so much more in there, from matching grain on the neck to the damages, etc. etc. I mean... seeing all that didn't make me doubt the guitar for a second and for me it was enough proof that to just say let's go to London to make an awesome video! And I am very happy I did, because I really think the guitar is legit.
    Cheers!

      Ok, this is getting dangerous now. I know you want it to be real but someone is going to get scammed. The visual evidence shows it's not Jimi's guitar. The best evidence that it is NOT Jimi's guitar is on film,. When Jimi prepares to play 'Like a Rolling Stone' he takes off his feather boa and puts the guitar back on. You get a full shot of the back of the guitar and there is NO possible way to match up the marks to the guitar you played. It's just not possible.
      Please go watch the video with an open mind. You can find it on dailymotion.

    • @WarriorOfGhengisKhan
      @WarriorOfGhengisKhan 2 года назад +4

      I think I have just found definitive proof the guitar you played is a fake. In your video you show a nice shot of the headstock... but the Fender decal is WRONG!!! It's missing the words 'with synchronized tremolo' and missing the patent numbers. In Getty images you can see that Jimi's strat logo is positioned slightly differently to accommodate those words and you can see a faint dark line where that text would be! Everything I see points this guitar to been a fake!

      @@Chinaguitarsceptic Hi, Sceptic. One last bit of evidence. Jimi used the same black Monterey Strat at a week later at The Golden Gate Park. If you look up photos you can see a big dent on the front near the arm contour. That dent is not on the guitar in Paul's video.

  • @lecorsaire2283
    @lecorsaire2283 2 года назад +5

    The reality is that no matter what, this is an original ‘65/‘66 strat with most of its original parts so it’s worth a good amount of money regardless.
    However, Heritage decided to cancel the action and they did so for a reason. That tells me that it simply wasn’t possible for them to verify that 1. it belonged to Jimi and 2. that it’s the exact same one used on stage at Monterey.
    To be honest, if this were the real guitar, I don’t understand why the owner would choose to auction it through Heritage instead of Sotheby’s or Christie’s who not only have more weight in the industry, but also have a long history of selling important instruments.
    I know that Heritage has engaged in some shady practices including practically creating a bubble in the sealed video game market by way of owner Jim Halperin also being a part owner of Wata games, the company that grades them. I’m sure you heard about Super Mario 64 selling for around 1.6 million. Well these guys are responsible for engineering that sale.
    So the fact that a shady guy like Jim Halperin wanted nothing to do with it says a lot imo.

It's not like anyone would have a reason to anyway but that will be the excuse. There actually isn't even room for the tremelo decal under the fender one on the fake guitar. I like to know how that much we're got on that guitar and that little bit of time Jimi Hendrix was known not to keep a guitar for long his career only stand for 4 years until here recently I would have never thought him ever to have played a Gibson SG and if someone has had that guitar all that time and it's supposed to be one played by Hendrix why would you add more wear to it by playing it all the time I may have pulled it out and shown close friends from time to time but no way in the world what I have played it so much to put that much where on it all these years and the bigger question is how did that much where get done to it in that short a Time I could be wrong but but it is my theory and no I don't believe Paul David would have went along with it if he had any inkling of an idea that it wasn't what it was supposed to be

    Just an observation - the guitar in the case at 2:37 has a large headstock and the guitar at 2:47 has a small headstock …
    Something else - the “Stratocaster” decal is clearly seen on the guitar in the case at 2:37 but isn’t visible at 2:00 although the “Fender” one is and where it sits suggests it’s a small headstock … also, the cases are different if you look at the neck rests.
    Curious 🤔

    I find it a bit odd that you Completely ignored the missing and misaligned headstock decal? The most controversial and damning piece of evidence. The guitar is a fake. Period. The neck is 100% conclusively not the neck on the Monterey guitar.

    • @YouTw1tFace

    When I saw Pauls video, I thougt it was too good to be true. At the point, the guy only wants to sell the guitar for real big money I started to doubt. He only wants the 2.6 million followers of Paul. Sadly Paul was way too nice and naive in this case.
