Hey guys, I was going through footage from my 2020 Seattle trip and there's still a few things I haven't posted, more to come! In this video there's some new footage and a couple of clips I posted previously as individually vids, I thought it'd be cool to put it together chronologically to showcase the progression of some of the band's most important early concerts. Great job putting this together, Daniel! I’ve always read about these gigs but now they have come alive with your video. Thank you! I can’t believe Nirvana exploding was 30 years ago. Time goes so fast.
Their second show called Nirvana was at the Caddy Shack in Olympia. It was a run down punk house. It was the first time I heard them play. Halfway through the OffRamp show you can hear Kurt telling me i left my wallet and keys on the stage. Great times. Thank you.
I'm not surprised to hear that Soundgarden's Kim Thayill was at the Off Ramp show - he practically lived there! I saw Soundgarden play only once, but recall seeing Kim at *many* bar shows, just mixing with everybody else like a regular patron, even though he was a certified rock star. So very Seattle. Also, I was under the impression that opening for the Butthole Surfers at the Union Station on Oct 28, 1988 was Nirvana's first show in Seattle, but apparently that's not right. Finally, a couple other Seattle venues I'd consider important if you're here again: The OK Hotel just around the corner from the Central is where I believe they debuted "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and (to me at least) the HUB (Husky Union Building) on the UW campus where they played twice in the early years, to large audiences.
awesome to hear about Kim IRL chillin'. seems like something that would have happened on the reg, based on what i've heard the Seattle scene was like then
i feel ya. then again w/ everything that's been going on the past few years I thought the other day "Man, 2005 was so chill. Wanna go back." And if you would have told me that in 2005 I would have flipped. 😄I wish I would have known how precious and beautiful life is back when I had still had some good years left in me.
It’s so funny how this sounds like “history” to you (Daniel S.- you probably weren’t born for another decade later), but it’s like yesterday for me and I’m sure other fans. Yes, I’m officially old. What a time to be alive though.
I lived down the Street on Mst. Nirvana also played at a Club in Downtown Tacoma. I can't remember the Name. I remember Hair at the Moore in the 70's. The Central was the Social Anti Social Club great Gigs there nice Place too right on the Corner was the famous J@M Cafe where John Wayne did a Scene in the Men's Room in McQ or something like that I saw part of it being filmed on Jackson St. In Seattle (70's) Great Video Daniel you would be a good Producer. Pioneer Square is a rough Place at Night Time and the Underground Seattle is right below it with lots of big fat City Rats.
But it's cool to kno all this about nirvana, great job on the research man, ive been playing nirvana since he died, my hair happened to b blonde and shoulder length so those days was fun. I was 15 when he passed
A concert is at least more than 100 people man and that is called a gig playing at a club if every time you play somewhere like a restaurant or club then I've played 100s of concerts lol
@@BugRib Hey I don't like watching things twice okay. I click on the video and watch or just listen to it. I don't have time to read a whole description or pinned post. It's not a complaint it is an opinion
Well it's just jamming out, if you've ever played music when you was that age that's what you do, like shit yeah free beer herb and can be somewhere besides your own living room it's like right on man, may be some different Chics there, dig the story just the over excited n the guy doin the video about the first concert is just silly, it's not a secret concert or a gig or a show lol, you get paid for those things

Running into Aaron is proof that it’s a small world and things happen for a reason.
Bro love these videos you kick out on the regular. Cool seeing someone just as enthusiastic about Nirvana as myself :)
I’ve made soooo many Nirvana Guitar Tutorials.
Thanks for the video Daniel
Awesome! It's a very good job! It's a part of the great history of the great band! Thanks a lot, Daniel!
This is such a detailed account of their first gig, you could almost make a movie out of it
raymond gig is not their first gig ever it's something like 5th gig
Very informative video. Thank you for uploading
I'm really enjoying these videos. Great research! Keep them coming!

nirvana foreverrrr!
I used to work at the Nitelite in the Moore saw Sound Garden rehearse from the loading dock on a cigarette break
If you're ever in Vancouver we can go to some iconic venues and whatnot!

I’ve actually played shows at both The Central and El Corazon/Off Ramp and I can attest to the minimal audience. :)
The show on March 19th 1988 was the day after my birthday!!!!!
I wish I was back in 1990 again. I hate these days we’re in now.

That's not a concert it's a party
But it's not _not_ a concert, either.
It's a ahow.
