Hi Sonya, thank you for this masterful performance and your story about it being very personal to you in trying to master a difficult piece at such a young age of 13 and 14 and it being one of your personal favorites. I appreciate your professionalism in your whole approach! You mentioned "Virtuoso," and I looked up the synonyms that include Masterly, Dazzling, and Bravura. You exemplified all these in your playing of Chopin Etude No. 12. Talking about the Yin and the Yang, you knocked the Yang into another galaxy. It is now one of my favorites. I love the beginning that seems to explode open up a portal into your innermost being. And the ending was absolutely stunning and perfection. Virtuoso rhymes with virtuous and I see/hear noble virtuous qualities. You are a "Piano Virtuosa!"
Listened again multiple times. I can't believe this piece is a little less than 3 minutes in length, because it feels like a much longer piece, it is so majestic. What genius, what unbelievable talent to compose such a piece. And I love your skillful playing, it is breathtaking to behold! How fortunate your students are to have you as their teacher for this piece!
Marvelous! I knew it would be great when I heard the speed with which you played the sixteenth notes in the melody in bars 2 and 4. I absolutely love the way you play this piece. ❤🤩👏
I listened for the 3rd or 4th time. This time my ears were so crystal clear (have you ever experienced supernatural hearing?), the piano sound was absolutely amazing! Mind blowing! I hooked it up to a good amplifier and filled my house with it! You overcame your original fear and mastered this masterpiece! The sound is so professional! Other instruments are good and great but you put the piano at the top of the pyramid! For whatever reason, not to mention your mastery, the sounds were perfect. You said at the end of your presentation that Chopin Etude No. 12 became 2nd nature to you and truly enjoyable. That has to be a great feeling knowing that at one time it seemed almost impossible to play well. Reflecting on your performance it did look totally natural, a part of you, and you a part of it, resulting in a pure shock and awe performance. Forgive me for my long rants, but since this piece had such a powerful effect on me, I decided to listen to Khatia's version in concert. It was beautiful, but since I am a beginning pianist, I wanted to say this... your version is reflective, powerful and genuine (true to the nature of the piece), you separate notes better and you blend them better. Your version is brighter and noble. And this may be due to the fact that it is very personal to you and a long time favorite. I appreciate that. Thank you again Sonya, you have contributed greatly to my learning experience. I don't understand why you don't have more views. When doing searches your videos are not easy to find. I wish you all the best!
I am so glad I found you Sonya and your Channel! Over several weeks I have experienced the auditory sensations and revelations that impressed upon me the feelings and knowledge that you are the Queen of Piano Virtuosas, and of course, there are quite a few princesses out there from which to choose. But I say you are the Queen! Of course, this can be considered biased. I base this on the following performances: Rachmaninov G Minor (The best I have experienced even compared to Rachmaninov himself and even Horowitz); Chopin Etude 12 (Dazzling and Masterful); Lecuona Andalucia Suite especially Malaguena (Dazzling and Masterful); Debussy Clair De Lun (Exquisite virtuosity); Danse Macabre (Totally professional and masterful virtuosa performance); And to add more evidence, is Sonya's own compositions of the Album "Dreams in Black and White," that I purchased. It is a series of Sonya's compositions that puts me into a calm, relaxed state and is both uplifting and magical. Did I make my case? 🌹
So inspiring!!👏
