I'm just a guy in Kansas playing around in his garage. Come along in my adventures riding, racing, modifying and repairing my small fleet of unusual misfits.

😆 A BMW on JACKSTANDS 😆 ok. I got it out of my system. Content from 100%Jake? Excellent! My day is now complete!
I was glad to see you have AC Delhi jack stands and not Harbor Freight, so you spent money in the right places
That driveshaft bolt is why ratcheting wrenches are great to have
The old center bearing failed prematurely because it was not preloaded before tightening the bolts. Did you preload your center support bearing before tightening the 13mm bolts?
Push the center bearing 1/4 inch forward then torque down the bolts. It will not last if you don't do this.
Yes! Another Jake video!
wow! amazing explaining, this really helped with my e46. new project car and all of this info really helped 🤗
Great video. It will soon be time for me to do the centre hanger bearing on my 1990 Volvo 240. I plan to do the U joints at the same time, as nothing has been done on the driveshaft and the 30 year old parts have nearly 400,000 miles on them
I'm a sucker for brand names that are also puns. I need to go pick up a pack of The FIzzicist just to support the brand.
Great work! I never had the opportunity to do this type of repair on our BMW's, so it's cool to see all the pieces and process involved. Those jaw pullers are awesome! Need to get a set.
Not gonna lie the word "Chunggus" is growing on me 😆
Crazy!! I am doing this job now and I have the exact same issue with the wheel wobbling on the EXACT SAME SIDE.
Ended up being an issue with my diff! Interested to know if it was the same issue for you too? (... 2 years later ha!)
Nice job Jake. Man that support bearing was destroyed! LOL Please update us on how much better the acceleration/deceleration is now. : )
Acceleration beforehand didn't really happen because I have too much mechanical sympathy to hear the driveshaft whip around and stay in the go-pedal.
Acceleration now is fantastic. Smooth, pulls good, nasty 4k RPM torque dip that seems to be a universal ZHP thing.
There is a valve in the intake called the DISA flap that I'll remove and inspect in a future video because it can have a major effect on the severity of the torque dip.
Thanks for the fcp euro info!
FCP Euro is fantastic. They have absolutely everything on these cars and their return policy is second to none.
Did i miss the part where they preloaded the driveshaft?
While delivering BMW parts, a UPS driver discovers homeowner trapped by the weight if his RARE BMW 333, blah, blah, XYZ’s fallen exhaust and drive shaft that was all caught on video before being deleted/“edited” for RUclips.
Oem bmw E46 wheels are indeed centred by the close fit between the flange on the disc and the hole in the center of the wheel. Your aftermarket wheels don't have the right hole and need a ring to fill the gap. Or get better wheels....
You should film when you go on a parts run to the store
But how did it sound before an after
The best knockoff soda is Faygo's Moon Mist (Mountain Dew)
Lol did you really say “who uses a 13?” 😆 That’s BMWs go-to size.
Would exhaust heat cause the driveshaft bearing to fail sooner if it's a low quality replacement?
Potentially, but that heat shield between the exhaust and driveshaft is pretty substantial.
Jake!!! Which dillons can I find the Fizzicist at? lol my girl loves Mr pib and I don’t know anywhere in Wichita that sells it
It should be at all of them since it's a house brand
The wheels might be for an E39 5 series, BMW in their infinite wisdom decided to increase the wheel center bore from 72.6 to 74.1 mm. AFAIK, the E39 is the only BMW with this hub diameter.
The ET is way different (40+ on the E46 and 20ish on the E39) but those wheels having larger diameter bores seems to fit my hypothesis.
They're TSW Bathurst wheels, they're meant to fit lots of different cars so they just have large bores for that reason.
@@100PercentJake Ah, that explains it! They do look nice!
thank goodness that somebody in Wichita knows that they are Cicadas and NOT Locusts!
Thank God for you how to
How much time would I have to set aside to do this?
I need my csb changed a guy wants to charge me $700 to do it? Is that too much?
I've never seen someone so happy for finding a drive shaft underneath a car.
Also, those jack stands look kinda flimsy and you're tugging a lot of stuff... Be careful!
good work well done
Love this car. Keep it awesome
Glad those aren’t Harbor Freight jackstands.
More of kyle on the channel please
If you need tools just barrow them from JR.
Yeah, I think he just wanted an excuse to buy things, I would've loaned mine to him 😂
😂😂😂
thats a U joint not a ball joint
10’s and 13’s all over my Audi.....always misplacing them
