Rebuilding a Repeat Pattern from the Pattern Fill on an Artboard in Illustrator

  • When making patterns in Adobe Illustrator, we have to work around the limitations of Pattern Editing Mode: brushes and Freeform Gradients get expanded, transparency can cause lines between the tiles, and performance slows down the more complex your art is (to name a few). In this video, I show you how to take a pattern fill you created in Pattern Mode, and rebuild it on the artboard, so your art remains totally editable and line-free!
