This little addition to that scene makes me think Will hallucinated Carrie’s responses to his breakup proposal, and it wasn’t so much she mocked him but he was forced into thinking this was how he should proceed.
I think you missed the obvious similarity of the very first scene in the movie, in which we see a drunk Eric trying to fight Jeffrey, and the one where Will fights with his boss (Rosie), then also, in a drunken state, tries to fight a guy who accidentally hit him. The scene was the very same and I think it's symbolic of how Will had basically become the person Eric was, apparently more disgusting than Will, but not so much after a second look, when we learn that Will, despite being more pleasing on the outside, was just as disgusting on the inside. Also, I think it was interesting how the kids asking for a drink in the first scene were looking naive and unexperienced, basically harmless, on the outside, but were actually pretty "obscure" and evil on the inside, and that becomes evident when we see what they had actually put themselves into. This movie is definitely about how outside appearance can mislead us into thinking that people are what, in reality, they're not.

The actor playing Eric, the big dude just passed away. Brad William Henke. He was a football player before getting into acting. Real sad. He was a great actor. R.I.P.
@@ILeMaHPiX yeah, it was a joke. But if you want an opinion, I just think the movie ends with the plot almost unanswered because it was meant to. I mean, I'm a sad alcoholic with no hope for the future and I wish the end happened with me. It made sense in my head.
Heroic Redemption moment for me. As an old-fashioned horror movie survivor, i would've got off my backside and did some research on those books. Since it was a ritual, there's ALWAYS a way to reverse or cut it off, it's just a matter of finding it....
Yah that did genuinely frustrate me watching this film. I think it just goes with the trend that non-Christian (or mainstream Christian) religions are portrayed as evil.
Do you think the whole roach phone hallucination was to make sure the police wouldn’t get it? Which would subsequently ruin Will’s path towards finishing the ritual?
I think the quote at the begining of the film of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness gives the whole movie a totally new interpretation. "... it had whispered to him things about himself which he did not know, things of which he had no conception... and the whisper had proved irresistibily fascinating. It echoed loudly within him because he was hollow at the core..." - Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness Just as the novel conveys, there is a certain "darkness" hidden inside each one of us, which in jungian psychology it's called our shadow or those negative aspects of our unconscious that we refuse to accept and haunts us. Also the idea that even people who seem "normal" on the exterior, can do atrocious at bad circumstances or be "full of worms". The demonic entity that the kids in the movie released with the "translation of wounds ritual" pushes Will to his limit as he desperately to escape from his own truth through alcoholism, unrequited love, cheating and self deceiving. That truth being that he has no true purpose in life, no intrinsic motivation to keep him going and also the fact that he cheated on his girlfriend justifying his actions by saying that "she doesn't love him anymore", rather than taking full responsability. The roaches, as they became increasingly in numbers throughout the movie, are hallucinations that represent the darkness within Will and they follow him no matter where he goes. The visions (precisely the ones of severed heads) are suppressed impulses that he has product of his anger. As spectators, that scenes make us empathize with the protagonist, because at some point in our lifes most of us have had some obscure thoughts that we want to deny. Those thoughts not necessarily make us murderers, but are socially regarded as unacceptable. In a nutshell, the demonic entity on the movie, which is related to spiritual enlightenment, whispered to Will (literally through the phone) the darkness hidden within his unconscious self, things that he refused to accept. As he loses everything he had, and had no aspirations of his own, he came to the realization that the only thing left to do is accept the darkness inside (roaches filling up the Eric's bedroom and the screen) and transcending into something more than "just a body" or a "mock". This is just my personal interpretation based on Heart of Darkness and what i researched on psychology. I'm sorry if there are some grammar errors, english isn't my first language.
Great comment and your grammar is fantastic, so don’t worry about that! What do you make of his name being Will? And what is your native language? I’m just curious because you present your points wayyyyy better than most native English speakers in any form of social media.
@@LaFlor718 First of all, thank you for your kind comment! I haven't put too much thought into "Will" as a name and if it is a reference to something else, but it's something intereseting to look out for. Have you got any insight into it? Oh, and my native language is spanish (:
I watched this movie last night and it doesn't explain stuff very well so I came looking for some explanations. I've watched a few videos and learned about the book, aeons etc. Just wanted to say your comment is actually one of the best breakdowns I have found and your English is great.
ponysalvaje1 “Will” is his name but is also in the phrase “free will” which means that humans can choose between good and evil - there is no pre-determination. So in a discussion about being presented with an evil God as a way to fill himself up, he has a choice and the name “Will” might have some meaning in the scope of the story.

Imagine someone makes a movie about human sacrifice to summon some powerful being... and it turns out to be super benevolent and makes everything right. That would be interesting. THIS on the other hand is just a completely derivative "horror" movie that would only frighten teenagers.
This might be my favorite comment ever! Like imagine if someone commits atrocities to summon a deity and when the god comes they are sickened by the sacrifice and kill the ones that did the sacrificing and like purges the world of evil. That would make for an awesome story/novel. Write that shit!
@@LaFlor718 I wouldn't even have it kill the summoners. That's just how it's summoned and to keep it doing good, you have keep sacrificing people. But it would heal the planet, end famine, wars, fires, pollution... How many lives do we sacrifice to build paradise?

The actor playing Eric, the big dude just passed away. Brad William Henke. He was a football player before getting into acting. Real sad. He was a great actor. R.I.P.
"Wow what an empty life!"
Me: He went out and saw people? All i do is the gaming part
The demon has an android lmao that ain’t cash money
The demon must dislike apple's marketing I suppose
Demons got good taste
Worse ending😩
It wants something durable. People tend to drop haunted objects pretty often.
I think its a window phone. He needed a window into our world
At this point, I’m appreciative of anything that’s not a remake, so off to find Wounds I go. Thanks for another awesome review. I adore your humor.
“On the surface Will seems to be completely normal but we learn he’s completely empty inside” 🤔 just like the real Armie Hammer!!!
LOL yeah. He's a freak
> sees the Monster
Ahh, I see that Mantorok has found himself work in these trying times. u_u
I was hoping to find out what happens when he let's the god inside of him.
This movie just ended with literally nothing 🙄 it feels like there is just an end missing. Such a "that's ALL????" moment.
There's that fat lady playing pool in the background all the time that has no explanation as well.
@@26muca07 why should that need an explanation
@@ILeMaHPiX you got me.
@@26muca07 wait, were you not being serious in your first comments? Because there is a lot of relevant plot strings which are left unanswered
@@ILeMaHPiX yeah, it was a joke. But if you want an opinion, I just think the movie ends with the plot almost unanswered because it was meant to. I mean, I'm a sad alcoholic with no hope for the future and I wish the end happened with me. It made sense in my head.

Ha! Classic 😂
Please 😭😂
haha, yeah, it's all exposed anymore, they are all controlled, he might be adopted too.
them feels when he's roasting this guys life but it's scarily accurate to your own T_T
He makes its so much easier to understand things in a short amount of time
Heroic Redemption moment for me. As an old-fashioned horror movie survivor, i would've got off my backside and did some research on those books. Since it was a ritual, there's ALWAYS a way to reverse or cut it off, it's just a matter of finding it....
What a gross misrepresentation of gnosticism. Archons are the evil forces in that paradigm, not aeons.
And what does 11:11 means?

@@LOWBORN-the-LOATHSOME thanks
Yah that did genuinely frustrate me watching this film. I think it just goes with the trend that non-Christian (or mainstream Christian) religions are portrayed as evil.
I read 4 words I didn’t recognize
Do you think the whole roach phone hallucination was to make sure the police wouldn’t get it? Which would subsequently ruin Will’s path towards finishing the ritual?
I think the quote at the begining of the film of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness gives the whole movie a totally new interpretation.
"... it had whispered to him things about himself which he did not know, things of which he had no conception... and the whisper had proved irresistibily fascinating. It echoed loudly within him because he was hollow at the core..." - Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness
Just as the novel conveys, there is a certain "darkness" hidden inside each one of us, which in jungian psychology it's called our shadow or those negative aspects of our unconscious that we refuse to accept and haunts us.
I like this description. Not the best movie but I enjoyed it, except the ending. That was kind of corny.
ponysalvaje1 “Will” is his name but is also in the phrase “free will” which means that humans can choose between good and evil - there is no pre-determination. So in a discussion about being presented with an evil
God as a way to fill himself up, he has a choice and the name “Will” might have some meaning in the scope of the story.
Oh man this aged great, with the main actor being an actual cannibal
This sounds like someone copied the Sarkic Cults from the SCP universe.

My life is his without the alcoholism :-( I didn’t know I was so empty
Never let others define what your life should be like, because they will never stop doing it once you let them start.

Isn't this basically the Birch??
@@LaFlor718 I wouldn't even have it kill the summoners. That's just how it's summoned and to keep it doing good, you have keep sacrificing people. But it would heal the planet, end famine, wars, fires, pollution... How many lives do we sacrifice to build paradise?
@@yaldabaoth2 midsommar and death of me have similar concepts to this. benevolent beings that protect and provide paradise for their followers but requires human sacrifice.
I just caught season 2 of ''Tell me a Story'' a thriller anthology series. Worth taking a look!
Also hi all the way from Honduras!!! Love your videos !
Thank you! I watched this movie and honestly didn't like it as it felt there was no pay off.
meme cat it was going good then just ended abruptly
Yup. Feels completely unfinished. Like they just ran out of money or something like that. Weird.
Tavis Caron it has the potential to be an amazing unique movie but it seems as if they just gave up or they were making things up as they go
4:46 hey look Bulletstorm. At least his got a good taste in video games
Anyone else notice after the scene changes, a second or so the sharpness increases? Now that I see it, it's in almost every static scene change. @foundflix - I'm wondering if it's your encoding software - try 2pass if you're doing VBR
Ritual wounding, reminds me of flagellation (ritual suffering). They are still largely different, however the similarities are there.
Man you were going off on the main dude. Made me almost feel bad for him lol.
11:54 it's creepy cause.. the skull still has the nose attached..it's so wrong..😨
seems like it is accurate though if you think about it. The skin was peeled off the scull right after the guy was killed and since the nose is cartilage, it hasnt decomposed at all. We are just used to seeing skulls without a nose. I didnt even notice that detail until you said it.
What does it say about me that I find your explanations more entertaining than the horror movies you're explaining?
6:28 I love that Adam and Eve painting in the background as a sort of foreshadow
