Over the last couple of months I've really been worried about the guitarist6494 tech and if we'd ever see such excellence again, I began being very distant from everyone and not talking to anyone fearful of the tech drought, then in the middle of a shitty rainy week there was a glimmer of light and no it was not the sun... it was a guitarist6494 video!!! After all doubt and worry I had finally realized why it had taken so long, for I did not know it would be this good, the amount of effort put into this video made it all clear now, for it was not a tech drought but the beginning of a tech uprising FUUUUUAAAARRRRRRRRKKK!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! I loves this comment!!
Your comments are only getting better haha 😂
Goody908
muchos de los rifs que pusiste no son de glam, como judas priest, ozzy y iron maiden
akiyama mio huh?
I feel like Motley Crue’s early stuff is under appreciated. Their first album was the best in my opinion and it had some great riffs. I rarely see their early stuff on these lists.
Peyton B too fast for love album is my favorite too. Livewire is there best all time jam In my opinion
Ryan Kelley Yea I agree
Now after the movie they have been glamorized by every edgy teenage girl and its getting a bit OVER aprreciated if you ask me, love motley crue though
Caleb Heney idk ab that man😂. Id bet there’s only a handful of girls in my school who know who Motley Crue is, if any. But yes the movie has definitely introduced them to many new people.
@@peytonbrezski Yeah at my school the movie has introduced them to the wrong kind of people. Like the annoying emo girls who fangirl over the wigger wife beater himself without knowing and not wanting to accept the fact that hes done fucked up shit
Why are so many people worried about what kind of music belongs to what genre? Who cares? This talented gentleman merely wanted to jam to great music and I thought he did an awesome job! Great work!
Amen.
Exactly, I only care if the music is good
Maybe because he specifically named a genre 😅
glad you said my thoughts clearer than i could
Okay, lets create a top 5 Hard Rock riffs:
1 Burzum - War
2 Madonna - Like a virgin
3 Sebastian Bach - Air
4 - ABBA - Gimme Gimme Gimme
5 - Bob Dylan - Knocking on heavens' doors
I haven't seen anyone who can fret as lightly as you can. Clearly a masterful performance. Nice job!
Judas Priest isn't a hair metal... Singer is bald
He wasnt in the 80s lol. And Judas priest is just metal anyways
Bahahaha
Judah Priest was in their own catagory, like Lemmy and Motorhead. Completely off topic Steely Dan also couldn't be put into any one type of catagory.
Judas Priest sort of like Black Sabbath, not hair metal but heavy metal
hahha good one
Girls Girls Girls rift should be on here
Rico Steele Dr. Feelgood. As well
I bet you guys love the movie the dirt too
As well as Lay It Down, Unchained, It's Not Love, Flying High Again...
"Riff"
Fuck yeah I was thinking the same thing
I generally got goosebumps of excitement when Iron Maiden came on and I wanted Mötley Crüe to played all the way thru. Love this.
Sorry for the wait my friends, ya boi is back. This was probably my favourite video to make (seeing as this is my favourite style of playing).
I realise I left out a few classic 80s bands such as Vixen, Wasp, Tesla, Cinderella ect, but as usual I’m well aware there are a lot more than just 20 great 80s Hair Metal Riffs and this is just my Top 20.
Check the description for info on the gear used in this video and my Kit profile for even further details on which equipment I use to make my videos.
Any suggestions or feedback for the next video comment and let me know what you guys want to see in the near future....
except, as Alex Dead Cool said, "Journey is prog/hard rock. Iron Maiden is New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Ozzy is more Black Sabbath Style than this."
why are they on this list?
guitarist6494 make more videos about glam metal please
Guitarist6494 I love Charvel guitars and their sound!!
Thanks for picking Welcome instead of Sweet Child O Mine. XD Can't have 80s without Ratt IMO.
Cant forget firehouse and steelheart

7:03 02 Pour some sugar to me- Def Leppard
7:20 01 Crazy Train-Ozzy Osbourne
Play guitar "Goku" lol
Where can I find all the backing tracks.
illinoisanthunder hey dummy it’s for people to see when a song they want to hear is playing.
The only two I dont listen pretty well done was Round a d Round by Ratt and Pour some sugar by Def Leppard both sound simple but I think you gave to do it right or maybe is just me
Stryper is also my favorite
It’s youth GONE wild
Wait, Wait.... Where's Ratt's "Lay it Down?" That was and still is the Holy grail of all metal riffs!
I was about to comment the exact same thing. If you're doing an 80's guitar riff tribute video, ya GOTTA have Lay It Down in there, and frankly, it should be number 1 if it's a list of the best.
At least there was still round and round in the list
I absolutely agree. That's exactly what I thought too.
Me to I’m a big rat fan
@@CaptainVelveeta yep.. You do realize we're talking about "Riffs" not complete songs right? Name one you think is better than the intro to Lay it down..
Thumbs up for having Loudness and then Stryper in the list! Whatever you have in this list I listened to them every single day when I commute to school in the 80's!
Nothing like 80's hair metal!
Bradley Barton 80’s Thrash metal is better
A lot of those "Hair" bands don't have much hair now..
@@aaebsssb9914 Thrash metal is insanely overrated. Glam had better riffs, solos and vocals.
Kull, O Conquistador Bruh
Who cares what genre it is. I love it all from classic rock to death metal.
@mikebalko wtf hahaha 😂
A few honorable mentions-
"Mama Didn't Raise No Fool"-Firehouse
"Lay It Down"-Ratt
"Boyz Are Gonna Rock"-Vinnie Vincent Invasion
"Electric Gypsy"-LA Guns
"Lips And Hips"-Electric Boys
"Ready To Strike"-King Kobra
"Somebody Save Me"-Cinderella
"Misery Loves Company"-Lillian Axe
"Get It On"-Kingdom Come
"Seventeen"-Winger
"Looks That Kill"-Motley Crue
"THC Groove"-BulletBoys
"Bad Girl"-Trixter
Great work and well produced. Im 56 and the 80's was MY TIME..they do say 'never say never' but I do feel the 80's hair metal will never be mainstream again. You need to go to Scandinavia for that. I think they have just caught up with the 80's melodic riffs and they have some great bands too. Especially Sweden and Finland. I do think its a wig just to comment on one message. My favourite band of all time is Def Leppard when Steve Clarke RIP was part of them. I remember hearing the song 'Let it go' off their 'High n Dry' album and that riff has stayed with me forever. I didn't; expect to hear you play it but the open chord makes all the difference. Anyway great work and keep it up
6:27 the second we saw that pedal im sure everyone knew what song it was gonna be
I was hoping it would be Someone Like You by Bang Tango actually😀
Damn. I didn’t realize just how popular of a riff Lay it Down truly is. I thought I was the only one who loved it. I guess not. Round and Round is a great riff, but Lay it Down is king
Ik this is a year later but yeah the lay it down riff is definitley king
@@Vagabond_Valentine nah round and round is the classic lol
@@young_sachii both are great but Lay it down is just hands down better imo
@@Waltzyy For the main riff yeah sure, round and round is more fun to play not to mention the kick ass solo in it
C.C., pick up that guitar and talk to me!
Vaiterius i always thought he said "sissy" instead of C.C
One of my favorite guitarists.
@@bradstrayer485 mine too, definitely one of my favorites of the 80's! Hair metal
@mikebalko *looked
I don’t know why but I always love it when the singer announces the guitar solo like in talk dirty to me, or when Vince Neil just yells Geetar in Dr. Feelgood. Also during Alice Coopers set at Fire Fight Australia, during Schools Out he yelled out Hurricane for Nita Strauss’ solo
Wow, I wasn't expecting this level of quality in the selection of songs, the list is simply awesome, even if there are one or two that aren't really fitting to the description (more like typical heavy metal than glam rock...). Congratulations both for the realization and also for the selection.
I would have thought Def Leppard's iconic Photograph riff would have been in there but to each their own.
I could fill a top 20 list with just leppards first 4 albums lol
Looks like I'm calling in sick tomorrow...
EngiMeer why'd you make his comment about poo
I am really glad, that you've included Loudness in this fabolous list, they are underrated in my opinion, and often overseen, great video man!
You've made me want to listen to more Dokken, and learn some new riffs. Thanks man
hellfire1209 the axe powers of George Lynch are recognised
you´re right, there are thousands of good solos that is very difficult to choose
I really enjoyed hearing all these riffs and yes, there are so many other bands and songs but it will take hours to get them all down on video. Keep rockin'
New sub here. I love the 80’s music. Just fun, loud and unapologetic. Good times.
Love the Mockingbird...Charvel too.
Gypsy Road was one of the best hair band songs in the 80s.
Wooo! Ratt, Def Leppard, and Ozzy made it on here! Just wish there was more Crüe lol.
Great man! This video is gonna be a succes! We can see all your improvements here ! Keep Rockin'
This is classic thanks for posting the video! Good job!
I think you made some good choices but I don't think Journey, Iron Maiden and Ozzy are Hair Metal. Journey is prog/hard rock. Iron Maiden is New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Ozzy is more Black Sabbath Style than this.
Your probably right about Journey, but I've always seen Ozzy/Randy as hair metal. Iron Maiden are more "Heavy Metal".... but still have big hair, and are metal haha ;)
Ozzy solo's was totaly different from BS sound
I agree, differance could not be clearer.
+Alex Dead Cool Ozzy in the 80s was tottaly hair metal commercial, especially in 1986. He used to tour with Mötley Crüe and Bon Jovi !
Well, they're all hairy, and they all play the same twelve notes... :-0
how is iron maiden hair metal....
Hmm,... perhaps the spandex pants?
+Nightdare Good Point
That song specifically is very hair metalish
ThyerHazard Lol, so early Pearl Jam is hair metal too? They had long hair...
jack burrows They have hair? LOL
Cool some riffs for today very cool
Without Ratts Lay it Down riff this "Top 20 80s Hair Metal/Glam Rock Guitar Riffs" is useless/pointless..that riff defined the 80's...
DarkSim77 so damn true !!!
DarkSim77 Seriously. That’s the only reason I listened to this.
Hell yeah. I just posted basically the same comment, then saw this one. Whenever I think of 80s metal, *that* is the riff that immediately comes to mind. Many hours of 'air guitar' to that riff back in the 80s as a kid. Now I can actually play it --- but to play it right is kinda painful... (some awkward finger positions and stretches.) Still worth it.
DarkSim77 Lay it Down is the epitome of 80s hair metal riffs imoh
Love That Song
Great top 20 hair/glam list, however 2 Minutes to Midnight, Crazy Train and Breaking The Law were not hair/glam.
Otherwise I still love this list and your playing style.
Brilliant! My top 3 riffs at the top. My 2 favourite bands at 2 and 3 and my favourite guitarists at 1 and 2.
Dude, Stryper is soooo good!!
Love that you put the Stryper tune in there!
Wow forgot about Poison by Cooper. Good call. A few of this didnt belong though but I respect you had White Lion, Dokken, Loudness, Stryper!
I would like you see if you could do the opening riff to RATT- Lay It Down
That is by far one of the best versions of the welcome to the jungle intro I've ever seen on youtube, well done
great riffs. melodic, catchy, yet technical. better than everything after 2000 combined.
when you like the video before watching it because you know it will be good
Awesome that you put Stryper in there. Their new album is insane. Them & Judas Priests, Fire Power are the 2 best records in years.
4:17 i love how he did the big Hair of the 80s.
I was never a fan of Glam Rock or Hair Metal, or any kind of Metal for that matter. But I have to admit that the guitar riffs are the best ever. I've come to appreciate this style now that I'm older. It was cheesy but damn. Very creative with the riffs.
Today's music blows.
Mr Scary George Lynch 💯🤟🔥🔥🔥 Always been my favorite Guitarist hands down, and he's still smoking the AXE 🪓🤟💪😎
Omg your strumming action at Welcome to the Jungle is extraordinary
I loved how you added soldier of Fortune by loudness ...Akira Takasaki baby all the way!
WOCK and WOLL CRAZY NIGHTS!
@@sarinvx you are the HEWOES tonight!
tighter, and with more attack pkease.
Steve McCord It's not that kind of video. Demonstrations don't required an ATTACK .
It's that weird picking technique he uses
Awesome video. Still of the night probably my all time fav. Gotta put winger seventeen in there. Love the bc rich! 80s hair bands rule
you pissed off the dewey decimal system of musical genre organizers, they found several thousand genres in these examples you played
definitely nailed this one man! can tell that this is your schtick. great taste, and you seem much more comfortable, as well as nailed the 80's glam tone! very nicely done.
i love your channel,
Thanks for the love my friend 😁
Francisco lopez nk
Man he makes it sound so easy!
Well Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are not consisting to 80s Glam/Hair metal and rock they are 70's heavy metal bands btw the video and the riffs was awesome keep the good work im fan of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and i wanted to make that observation and im fan of glam metal and hard/hair rock too!!
PenCapChew Maiden isn't glam, but Priest definitely is.
Nah priest aren't glam either.
Priest glam? Jesus, you have to give them a proper listen. Priest def NOT glam. AT ALL!!!!!
Except if you count Turbo...
PenCapChew maybe you might be right on that
I couldn’t get through this video without picking up my guitar
Doug Marks is that you?
😂👏
angryheb1 how the fuck you know about Doug marks?finally a person knows about him!hope that guy makes a video about witches burning or rules the night
I still have a couple of his old school instruction tapes lol
White super strat? Check. Big blonde hairsprayed hair? Check. 80s forever lead guitar riffs? Check.
OFC I know Doug Marks. I just got his 2017 course. So much more material :)
Continue making such videos, making our lives so much more interesting
What about “Turn Up the Radio” by Autograph?
Is that a cover of the Master's Apprentices song?
Yo dude consider urself a 🎸 God by now those riffs r so damn hard one could hardly imagine d hassle that u have been through by practicing them all ur 🤘 life it's indeed a masterpiece 🤩
I love all your videos. Thanks and keep them coming.
Looks That Kill is in my top 5, at least.
Your technique is right on. I would love to have in my project.
A lot of songs here are NWOBHM.
Yh in some people call it glam for some reason
Great playing and sound got back into playing this stuff in lockdown I feel like a 16 year old again. Muscle memory is an amazing thing as I remember most of these and how to play them, thanks man
if you were anymore relaxed while playing these would be your top 20 Christopher Cross covers. So smooth and easy!
Can’t believe Alice Coopers Poison made it, one of my all times . Such an amazingly well composed song.
Ur sick bro and I knew who was gonna be saved for last wen I saw ur hair 🤘
This is all black magic to me. Love it
Priest maiden and guns shouldnt be on there
guns should
will hamilton smith Guns definitely should. But Maiden shouldn't
will hamilton smith And Priest should. They definitely are a hair metal band
wrathchild nah dude rob got no hair at all
If the person doing this list wants to add those ppl then it is his choice and his choice alone to make...NOT YOURS!!! If you can play a guitar and have the talents to make a vid then go make your own to your own liking.... I thought he did an excellent job!!!!
great vid! some awesome riffs in there, nice work!
Perfect! I mostly agree with tha playlist! Also the riffs you play are Great! Thank you fro remind me the perfect metal era of the eighties!
Holy shit! You have Loudness on your list! Glad to see them getting some respect. Those guys are massively talented....and still rockin' today. Akira Takasaki is a sorely underrated guitarist. They put on a great show live as well.
First time to your channel...you have a new subscriber, Guitarist 6494. :-) \m/
Is that ur real hair
Some of the best riffs of all time. But a lot of these aren't hair metal or glam rock. Judas Priest, Scorpions and Ozzy Ozbourne are definitely heavy metal. Still a great video with some awesome guitar playing.
Where is W.A.S.P.?
Gabriel Brouwer yeah, could've put some Helldorado or Wild Child...
Gabriel
Drunk in the pool, again XD. W.A.S.P. is too godtier to be put next to anything in a list.
Gabriel Brouwer Wild Child
or some MMM
Un skinny bop! Amazing video and riffs!!!!!
I wish you would you gave love a bad name with more feeling it would sound way better otherwise great video
Awesome brings back memories.
I remember watching this a couple years ago thinking how a lot of this licks would just take eons to learn. 2 years later I can play every one of theese.
Very nice riff selection
Love your tone, love your technique, love your feel, everything i love. Such uplifting music.
Extreme's" Decadent Dance" and Winger's "Seventeen" would have made my list but I like the way you think.
I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar, but I'm too lazy and stupid. So I'll just stick with Guitar Heroes.
White Lion...awsome choice. Do 20 videos doing each one by one and I will watch them all.
Judas Priest and Iron Maiden Hair Metal? That hurts my soul
Judas priest turned very glam in the 80s
Great to hear you play a Sykes tune
Winger - seventeen
XYZ - inside out
TNT - 10,000 thousand lovers in one
You're missing out on so much!!!! Good vid tho
Brilliant. Rock on brother.
fantastic playing and fantastic choices!
Alot of the songs on here aren't even hair metal or glam rock
Seeing it like this made me realize how simplistic these riffs are and the lack of technical ability many of these bands tended to have. But they compensated by effects and memorable sounding hooks.
Awrsome video bud. Ur pretty good playing them. I enjoyed this video
CHARVEL!!!!!
Good songs man. Rock out!!!! Just think I'm only 18 and i love these songs they are just really great songs with really awsome artists.
Great choices! Love your playing and your Charvel.
For all of you saying that this band or that band isn’t a Hair Band well the term hairband is a newer term, it wasn’t a term back then! So yes they do belong here as hairband is a blanket term for 80s rock!
Thank you for bringing alive an era long gone but was so damn kick ass!
