Well done. I had forgotten how much energy that young helpers take when watching you fix things. My son was always there every time anyone touched any tool for repairs. When he was 13 he was rigging lights in his mates small boat. He’s now 30 and can can fix most anything with an engine in it. Better that than not being interested. Treasure them while they are young.
Oh 100% It took so much longer but i do love that hes interested in it and will always try and let him help where i can. Glad to hear its done well for your boy! Thanks for watching
You'lll be nice and toastie from now on. That Liam is absolutely gorgeous and ever so helpful. It's great seeing them wanting to help and learn all the time no matter what it is. Enjoy your new heater.
Great fix, I wish I could be as confident & know how the motor bits work to assess workable and non-working parts for a great end result. Well done! 👍If this happened to me I reckon I would just have bought a new one then seen this and groaned at my lack of expertise.
Hopefully this vid might give you the confidence to give it a crack if it ever happens. Im just too stubborn to buy a new one and in this case it worked out for me
Just about to fly to Geraldton for 10 days. Life's good. Kids and I still doing the camping thing every long weekend. Went to Wilpena pound over Easter funny enough was hot, geez there are some pretty amazing drives up through there. Have fun guys. Cheers
Good job Mark and Liam! We had so much trouble with our cheap diesel heater that we went out and bought a Russian branded one for $1200 ~ it was so cold in south east SA at the time that I would have been happy to pay $2k just to keep warm 😂
At that turned out good, much cheaper to fix it and being able to get the inside piece, then just pop it back together, now for warm nights, well done.thanks cheers Judy qld
Great work with the diesel heater repair. Normally if a gasket needs any sealer applied to it when assembling it, there will be some sealer there from the previous assembly.
These heaters are great when they work. But they’re a pain when they don’t work! I’m on my second one, so far I’ve used parts from the first one to fix the second one.
Thanks Mark - any chance you can pop up a link for where you got the replacement motor/fan assembly? I have spare gaskets and a temperature sensor, so figured it might also be handy to get a spare assembly!! Thanks

i have a portable one, identical to this obs, but in a box. handy for when its raining and cold i can sit under my awning and keep warmish. i just run pipes in through side window to heat the van. this vid may come in handy in future. usually the glow plugs shit themselves first. minus 2 here in central vic atm, not camping, but id not be with out my diesel heater if i was.
@@Ourwhittleadventure its horses for courses i know. it was just me and the kelpie i had to worry about, and the hassle of more holes in the van, vs the exorbitant cost of a wabasto install, 190 aussie pesos and its done well. yeah, i wish i was in noosa :)
When we installed our diesel heater we were told to run it at maximum heat for 5 minutes before you shut it down to burn off any unburnt fuel and carbon deposits that may have built up in the heater during its operation.

So much warmer now! He definitely tries to help and learn, does get bored after a little while but he is only 4 so i will take what i get 😅

I like it. I pull everything apart, as you say nothing to lose. Good on you Mark hope all is well
Haha wait for a couple of weeks to see what else i have to pull apart 😅
Thankx for watching buddy, hope you and the family are well and keeping warm

@4x4smile i would love to get back to that region, see what this ywar has in store for us
Great to see you back again.
Thanks good to be back

Oh we 100% appreciate that! Its so unpleasant being cold, Clem was almost at that point before i fixed this, this was my last chance
Well done on the repair…., you couldn’t have done it without Liam’s assistance 🤙🍻
Not at all, definitely wouldn’t have been quicker 😅
At that turned out good, much cheaper to fix it and being able to get the inside piece, then just pop it back together, now for warm nights, well done.thanks cheers Judy qld
Yes really happy with that win! $50 vs $250 and it has been working a treat ever since
Awesome
Great work with the diesel heater repair. Normally if a gasket needs any sealer applied to it when assembling it, there will be some sealer there from the previous assembly.
Thats a valid reasoning! So fsr so good with it, now a happy wife so happy life haha
Thank you for the diesel heater lesson. Now I know how to pull mine apart if it starts acting up. I am glad you are warm again.
Im glad Clem is warm again too! Bavk in the good books haha
Sounded like a dry bearing in that motor. Small amount of hight temp grease in them. Under the seal on the bearing.
Yeh?
Il have a play and see if i can get i to that bearing.
Is a spare now so will be good to get it working well
These heaters are great when they work. But they’re a pain when they don’t work!
I’m on my second one, so far I’ve used parts from the first one to fix the second one.
That will be my plan going forward, now ive pulled it soart and have some spare components hopefully il be able to repair it in future if required

I bet that is a relief 😅
Sure is! Has been working a treat ever since
Well done! Do you use the heater in a caravan park? I have just had one installed and was worried about the fumes potentially annoying others

@glenod yeh i think what you had was spot on, like you said run the piping theough the window and could warm up inside too. Win win
When we installed our diesel heater we were told to run it at maximum heat for 5 minutes before you shut it down to burn off any unburnt fuel and carbon deposits that may have built up in the heater during its operation.
@neilringram thats fair! I might have to start doing that!
Thanks
