Hi Brittany! Great video. I particularly liked the speeded up packing/unpacking and even more the acro with backpack. I wish you a good year of travels and adventures. We are off to SE Europe again in two weeks. Adrian
browneyedkaty89 I'm so glad you enjoyed it :). Yes, I love putting it to the test and actually carrying it around with you. It makes me so happy this brought you a laugh.
Holy shit! those acrobatic tricks with your backpack on were impressive! I did like how you pack could load from the bottom as well, I think I might looking forward to purchasing one of those in the future.
Checked your list; leaving in a couple of weeks. A SINK STOPPER!! I have been preparing to wash my clothes by hand but it didn't even cross my mind to bring one of those, thanks! :D
+Sarah V Congrats on your upcoming trip! Right on! I'm so glad you thought about the sink stopper. I think this will help with your clothes washing so much! Happy adventuring to you :)
Love your videos! What kind of sleeping bag do you use? Brand? Mummy or rectangular? Down? Weight? What degree is it rated for do you know? I'm looking for one that compacts tiny like yours for travel.
snedford I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos! Thank you so much for reaching out. I have an REI travel down +45 sleeping bag. I think it was pretty pricy, around $125-$150 or something when I bought it. It is a mummy, but it can unzip completely. It gets super small and must weigh under a pound. I splurged on it because at the time it was the only thing around that was warm and would get really small. Now I think there are more options. I know that this bag is pretty awesome too: ruclips.net/video/laxgJCYnoj0/видео.html
Demonwicked Eagle Creek makes a large variety of them with very thin material, which is ideal for lightweight packing. If I were to buy new ones, that is what I would go with, although the others I have seen work quite well too. I would say aim for the size and shape you think will work best for your bag and your items. Some have pockets on both sides and others on just one. Enjoy your search!
Hi, please do more on Thailand; I would like to see how you travel, what you do (arival, places to stay, what you pay etc) It's my dream to go there (simple living-low costs) when I'm 40...Now, I have one month left before my birthday... and my boyfriend doesn't want to go...Maybe next year... Thanks (I did subscribe because I already like Andrew so I would like to know more about you too!!) Ilse from Belgium
Ilse 01 It's great to hear from you! I have some Thailand footage I'm planning to put together, so keep an eye out for that one. Going to Thailand sounds like an awesome idea! I really love Chiang Mai. All the best to you!
NoProGoPronto Thank you! I really love the flexibility, strength, and fun of it! Not to mention the connection and play and trust...acro is so cool. I took some footage while I was in Thailand that I'll probably put together soon! Thanks so much for reaching out. It's always great to hear from you :)
My daughter has not mastered the art of packing light. She came home for a week and had so much stuff in her suitcase that it literally felt like there was a body in it....and then when she left, it was even heavier because she added to it, and still had a backpack and purse and another bag. I carried the backpack when I took her back and it felt like there were cinder blocks on my back. It was awful.
Hey Brittany, I live somewhere that's gets really cold and that comes with its own needs that usually involve more stuff. Do you have anything to say about minimalism in a cold climate?
williusethis This is a great question. Unfortunately I am definitely not the expert on this. I make a habit of avoiding the cold and seeking out warm weather. If I find a cold-weather traveling minimalist I will definitely let you know! The only cold weather tip I really utilize is layering. With my wardrobe I can be in pretty cold weather comfortably by layering leggings under my pants, and a long sleeve and sweatshirt under my jacket. With a few of the right cold-weather items I imagine you could create a pretty badass minimalist wardrobe. All the best to you!
Hey Brittany, thank you so much for the inspiration! :) I'm looking for backpacks and I'd really like to know which is the exact name of your deuter pack in the video. Thanks in advance!
Great video, thank you. Couple of questions - does the weight ever exceed the hand luggage limits on flights or do you always manage to keep it under? And also, when flying (particularly a long flight) how do you deal with the food situation? I would usually take banana, celery, tangerines etc on the flight with me but obviously that adds more weight and usually fills up my bag! Thanks!x
Kim S Thanks so much for reaching out. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! My pack always ends up weighing somewhere between 15-20lbs. It's always way under weight and comfortable to carry. When I'm flying I usually bring fruit in one of my reusable stuff sack bags and carry it on. Sometimes on shorter trips I can fit some dates or a bag of grapes in my bag, but usually, like you, I have bananas, citrus, grapes, etc and just opt for putting them in their own bag. This is safer for potential issues with fruit juice leakage, etc too. Thanks for asking- it's great to connect!
***** Thanks so much for replying and for your helpful advice. Just to check, do they let you take the additional bag of fruit on then? I wasn’t sure if airlines get rather particular about how many bags you can take on!! Many thanks.xx
Kim S Yes, great question. You can take one carry on and one personal item, so you can definitely take another bag in addition to your carry on bag. And I have even found that they let people take extra hand-held bags of food and stuff. Happy trails to you!
I have a question about your Deuter 28L pack and your intention to go to the Tom Bihn synapse 19. Wow, that is a huge loss of space isn't it? How will you manage that? I am still trying to get to very light---how much change would 19L be? Have you any thoughts on the Synapse 25? Also, are you still happy with your REI Travel down bag?
Hi 1linnell. Thanks for reaching out! These are great questions. Surprisingly, the Tom Bihn synapse 19 has so much space! I would like to cut a few items out of my pack and use a bottom zippered compartment on the Tom Bihn 19 for my sleeping bag, and found that doing things this way I was able to load all of my belongings into the bag without trouble. Technically it's a 9L change, but I think there is more usable space in the 19L and as I said, with those few items cut out that I do not need, it works great. I like the Synapse 25 as well. It's so similar to the 19L, just larger. I am still happy with my travel down sleeping bag. I use it regularly and love how warm it keeps me, how I have a bed everywhere I go, and how small it gets. I hope this is helpful! All the best to you on your travels!
Thank you for showing this all, it's incredible to see how much can fit in the pack.
Rosie Kang It's my pleasure! It really is crazy how much room there is in this 28L pack!
loved the backpack acro!!

fuzzyorangeroses I'm so glad you enjoyed the acro trips! Yes, that is an awesome feature for this bag- I really recommend it!
When I watch this my thoughts are that you felt very 'free' at the time. It was three years ago and I hope you still feel that way.
That was fun! At the end, you looked like an astronaut floating in the air, with your partner rolling you with your pack!! Love it!!
Gevedon haha, I love that description! So much fun!
I love that Deuter pack. Gonna find something similar with yours. Thanks for this cool video! Wish our path cross and we can meet somewhere haha.
Wow love the acro at the end that was cool do a exercise video some time .

I love this video. What a great idea to test the weight for a while by doing normal (or acrobatic :-) ) activities with it! Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Brittany! I'll research those options!
snedford My pleasure! Good luck and have fun!
Lovely video, are there any specific sort of packing cubes you reccomend, or do you think most of the cubes on the market should work well?

do you really only eat 200/500 cals a day?
No?
tina knox +tina knox no, I eat more like 1500 cals a day. I'm not sure where you got that impression.
