How easy is the game once you assemble 5 insanely fast scaling dragons? Turns out its very easy, who would have thought? Merris is back but this time with the Exodia Onyx build, having all 4 Onyx equipment pieces to start the game with 4 dragons. By forcing an additional frost dragon, we start on level 1 with a total of 5 dragons, having only 1 dragon left to search for - the fire dragon.

As far as i understand, when you roll a master skill you have the chance to reroll any master into a legend.
If you banish too much you wont have 3 offers thus reducing the chance for legends to appear
Pretty sure this is the correct answer. Need to keep more fire upgrades in the pool so they can roll into legends.
@@anachronisticlaserbeams4820 Yea you want to keep three in the pool and no max them out just level them all to four before maxing them.
I wonder if you really need 3 in the pool - I assume you mean to increase odds, because I've never seen 2 legends appear at once and I played a lot with 50% legend chance. You definitely don't mean just to get a Legend since we had a single level up selection being a Legend in the video.
But yea, this run has shown me that you can't get a Legend without having skills left. This may sound "obvious" to some since it literally reads that Legends can only appear on Masters, but this highly depends on how the coding works. E.g. the game can roll Summer and Master in the code, then it checks for Legend, then it checks if anything is available. In that order, you can still get Legends while the description of the Legend % would still be accurate (that it can only happen on Master rolls). But I am now 99% certain that in order to get Legend, you need a Master roll while having skills still available.
@@DexTag well having 3 will increase the odds of a legendary since it will be 3 tosses for each master skill thus reducing the draws where you get only masters if i am not mistaken.
@@DexTag You need a skill to roll master to have the ability to roll into legendary, it says so in the text for legendary. That is why you never got the fire dragon cause you needed to roll a fire thing in master for it be able to appear. That is also why you want three skills for more rolls on master and legendary.

4:10 A little late, but I actually like Vortex on summon builds. It's a good way to make slippier enemies (especially bosses) stand still for just a second so your summons can start whaling on them.

I think you have to get a Master offered to be able to kinda convert it to Legend. So you want to have some boons you don't want to pick up in the pool
oh. Maybe level up offers count too. I think you only had force left to level up when the Temporal Lord boon showed up for like the fifth time

Yes by far. The master summon damage upgrade gives 18% summon damage every xx seconds. This time is reduced by Spell Speed.
@@DexTagthe mechanics of this game are crazy, i had no idea spell speed affected that, good to know.
Some quick math would suggest that 18% increased spellspeed would make The Summoner pop off every 49.2 seconds instead of every 60 seconds. With Dex getting the Summoner perk at 3.16 and master level, it would mean that 18% spellspeed would grant him 20.(42) x Summoner procs, instead of regular 16.(75) with the time remaining. Netting 64% increased summon damage vs 48%. However, the increase would only be superior on the very end minutes. Calling the advantage 'by far' is a bit of a stretch as the 48% would have been available straight away. Spellspeed does affect other things than summoner perk though, so it would probably be the best choice overall, depending on the build and how much one relies on spells with cooldowns.
@@Sondremacc there are a bunch of things going into that, that make this all a bit complicated to properly evaluate:
#1: Enemies early on are really weak, so while you get an immediate buff, do you actually need the immediate buff, or do you want to be stronger when the strongest enemies appear
#2: This is not the only source of spell speed. You can get more on the stage, but the main source for me is Gem High. Here is where it get's really complicated though. Gem High is a temporary buff to Spell Speed, affecting the cooldown of The Summoner. How does this work if it's already on cooldown, let's say it just started at 50 second cooldown and now Gem High puts the cooldown to 10. Does it go down to 10 or keep it's remaining cooldown? And how does it work if it is reduced to 10, but Gem High ends and the original value goes back up to lets say 50. Will it be increased by 40 seconds to match the difference? Will it take longer by a % of the passed time (so if it was at 10 and 5 seconds elapsed, but now goes back to 50, is 50% of that [since 5 of 10 seconds passed] added on top, meaning 25 seconds)?
#3: Multipliers multiply with each other (referring shrines and boons, not boons and boons) instead of being additive, which means the damage increase but also time are way more significant than just the face values. While this equally affects both sides, it would create a way bigger discrepancy than a calculation based on the assumption it's additive
#4: Spell Speed also affects every other boon (that has cooldown) including the random ones from the ritual - here the effect is way more significant because they are limited for a certain amount of time. It's a different perspective from viewer vs me because I know what I want to go for, and I knew I will go for alteration ritual.
#5: There are a lot of sources for summon damage but less sources for high amounts of spell speed, IIRC 18% is actually the highest amount you can get from a shrine, while most others have 12% of similar values to this, but they also allow other chocies, while some only have 1 or at most 2 reasonable choices
#6: Spell Speed affects the dragon attack speed (that's at least what I was told, I can't confirm or deny this), which matters in this case since the purpose of summon damage is to increase their damage output

Onyx Dragon is nuts and probably needs nerfed, sadly.
I feel bad saying it but for it to show up as an affix on gear which keeps actual stats, my Merris holding 2 of them is on a whole other level of comfort and boss killing compared to everyone else. Frankly, anyone not running 4/4 Onyx Dragon slots if they can is just doing it wrong. :(
So the game could definitely use some balance tweaks, and not strictly a bunch of buffs and power creep.
I think this depends on perspective. It's very rare so I think being very strong is fine, but I am more talking about the right/wrong decision. I view games like these as a personal choice, I will unequip the dragons and use black lightning when I feel like I want to have fun with it, without feeling the need to just take the optimal route. It's a different story compared to taking God of Time for me, because the clear and XP gain with him is so good it feels bad to not take him since the other build will suffer from lacking necessary level ups to make it work. I mean Mort also counts to that but you can still get a decent enough level without it

Turns out starting with 3 dragons is better than starting with 36 skeletons
