@@gkpdkshnz I guarantee the speculation from Jenniferbond7073 is correct. Young single mothers are often abandoned by the guys (many who are much older than the girl) who impregnate them. Many men absolutely WILL NOT marry, but have no problem impregnating young girls. I read a statistic some time ago that said roughly 82% of underage girls pregnancies are fathered by men 25 and older. Some families make the girls have the baby, and some families favor termination if she is too young with no job, education, or skills.

The daycare was run by her mother's best friend. However maternity leave for women is a joke in your country. In Europe it's normally a year. In the UK ours isn't the most generous women get 90% of their salary for 6 weeks and then £172 maternity allowance from the government for 33 weeks. If they take the full year then the last 13 weeks are unpaid. In mainland Europe they get more money for the whole duration and their husbands can get leave too. My brother was given 2 weeks paid leave by his employer. The first year of a baby's life is so important and it seems so cruel to separate Mum and baby, what if they want to breastfeed?

Agree. It's immoral. That other commentator is technically right, in that under current management that's all we can do. But it's not moral or necessary for mothers to work throughout a majority of their pregnancy and then almost immediately after giving birth. Just because we have no other options that doesn't make it "the right way".
Luckily it seems more people are waking up to that and the birth rate is decreasing. Capitalism doesn't produce an environment ideal for having babies.
