Mr Kirk your interviews have been invaluable in learning about Vladimir Putin as we watch Ukraine suffers under a Russian invasion. Thank you and your team for all of your hard work.
BECAUSE OF EVIL NATO
BECAUSE OF PUTINS NACHO
Is seems Russia has always been a troubled kind of country as no matter it will come out badly due to selfishness ect and Ukraine is paying the price in destruction of there beautiful country.

Damn you Frontline. I quit my job just to watch all these interviews. Great stuff.
Same. Except I save it for later and here I am letting go 3 hours of my weekend to watch. I don't regret tho...excellent content
Frontline this series is simply outstanding. Keep up the journalism excellence!
I was happy to see that they had this hour-and-a-half with Andrei Soldatov. I've read one of his books and a few articles he's published, and he's a sharp journalist who's not afraid to tell things like they are. I'd like to see more works from him in English or German language disseminated!! Keep it up Andrei : )
Yours is the kind of comment us non-trolls LOVE.
You make it worthwhile to actually read comments.
I am finishing a third viewing of the entire series, so I have noticed the troll activity come and, go over the 3 years that it has been on RUclips.
Mr Soldatov is the guy someone should listen to in order to understand what took place in Russia in the 90s and 2000s 👍😁
This interview should be seen by everybody in America and in Russia.
This person brings light to a lot of fog surrounding Putin's life and Russian people as a whole.
These are amazing interviews. Thanks for providing these Frontline.
Amazing liars yes.
Eugene Wilson = dope
It is better for people to think u are dumb than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!!! U r a bloody idiot..stfu
Eugene Wilson, come on, Soldatov here lived through this himself, and has been questioned no less than four times by the FSB. He's putting himself at risk to get the truth out there - it's very insulting of you to call this man a liar. Have YOU ever shown the courage and put yourself at risk like this? I think not!
@@birdman1112 no, a troll. A dope for wasting his time trolling this series, lol.
Both of the Russian nationals in the Putin Files series are terrific, and Andrei's interview was my favorite. His ability to explain the history of how Russia is using hackers and social media trolls was eye-opening. His explanation of how Putin frames the Ukraine situation - and how it would have appealed to Russians - was also very informative.
Indeed I hope he is safe!
One of the most retarded series on Yt with botted views: 123k views with 1,1k likes and 174 comments.

By the look of the trolls here with fake names it looks like Frontline did a great job with this series. Keep it up!
Putin is EXACTLY like Hitler!!! It's the U.S.' fault. They brought us down ...we can make Russia Great Again...OMG...how many times do we need to repeat history?
I know it’s good material when the bots are out and about in these interviews
This is amazing.
Am I alone in finding it scary that Frontline's subscriber base is only 260k ?
ive watched almost all of these and only just subscribed because I realized I hadn't after reading this comment.
I like it this way. Fewer people and potential trolls
@@diegomagellan This series is for people that want to dig deeper than the documentary can. Everyone with any intellectual curiosity would have wanted to do that, it seems to me. For at least a few of these people who were there, each seeing from a different perspective.
It is 1M subscribers now.
@@TampaDave Holy schnikeys ! That's a hell of a jump hey ? Probably due to the political turmoil and C19, but it's about time, good for Frontline 👍👍
Excellent stuff. Good insights, independent & he doesn't allow himself to be led.
42:41 - "Putin proposed an idea of a great Russia"
Wow, That sounds totally different in March 2022
Definitely, the story remains the same, not now something entirely different.
Like the way he talks and he is very informative, interesting.
PUTIN'S REAL STORY: CHIEF "FIXER" St. Petersburg in Putin's era was known as The City of Bandits (mafia style organized crime) the crime boss and chief thug was the Mayor, and Putin, of vanilla persona, became his Chief Fixer, top aide. Putin's ability to shield his thug boss from a massive corruption and crime scandle that would have put anyone in prison for life and remain personally pristine and untainted, caught Moscow leadership's eye, they imported him, and he served them brilliantly in the same fashion, climbing to the top on the backs of those he destroyed, the pinnacle being Yeltsin, who picked him to replace him, He was chosen because he knew where the bodies were buried of the entire leadership, his extortion, bribery and blackmail of key players and ruthless willingness to employ any means to achieve his Presidential goal, they knew exactly what that meant, and heeded Yeltsin.
James Spader will play him in the Hollywood version.
Lol
Uncanny resemblance

The Russian trolls don't like this one , must be accurate.
Frank Stone Why would anyone like it? You are obviously being brainwashed into the acceptance of a war with Russia. And you are ok with that? It's ridiculous.
War? Bring it on ......... lol I don't hate Russians , even if they ruined my weekend plans when I was younger. I'd bet most Americans would rather build bridges than bombs. Just like us Russians live in poverty so warmongers can make a buck. How many Bears and Boomers do you have left? How many of those old missiles still work ?
@@frankstone919 obviously, Russian trolls would HAVE to deflect an assertion that there are any Russian trolls here.
Putin is without doubt building himself up as The New Stalin, a man-o-steel (ignore that he was a man of steal also) to make Russia great again. Make [country name] great again had been Hitler's, after Mussolini.
@@TampaDave It's a sad situation.
Please add an audio version of all these videos to the frontline podcast 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Another peerless presentation and excellent open source intelligence.
Let’s put it this way. With his knowledge this man can never eat outside in a restaurant or receive parcels at his house.
Nor can he go near a window or balcony higher than the first floor.
The more heavily trolled a video in this series is, the more likely it is to contain information that scares the Putin regime.
Thanks for making things easier for us, trolls.
Very true, the disinformation artists try to distract
What a great interview!.
Dream of the day when RUclips will translate every interview or documentary in English to a French language!
Hey RUclips you have the power to do this easy!
We learn from history that we do not learn from history! 😥
Spammer, you post the same all over.
All the traitor-congress people should be made to watch all these Frontline posts. Thank you for posting. v
Now we can comment!
Soldatov is perhaps THE journalist when it comes to the KGB/FSB system, he has been at it for decades.
He is totally brill.
I think the US government should just tell its voters to gather information from traditional sources from both sides to make informed choices during election times (common sense), because Russia and other bad actors want to sew doubt into our patriotic candidates. Effort should go into this campaign to counter the Russians.
This has been going on for some years, not just in the US, but in Europe as well. I kept saying to some of my friends that what they call "independent" sources (mainly social media conspiracy theorists) are completely unverifiable and they also might be sponsored by someone. Some people got into a weird state, where they wouldn't trust their own government, but they would blindly believe any random face on RUclips. The rise of nationalisms in Europe must have been music to Putin's ears: dissolve the EU, dissolve NATO, and then Putin's army will walk across Europe unopposed.
Poland has just arrested a couple of people and accused them of spying for Russia. I hope democracies will start opening their eyes to what's going on.
Soldatov condenses and streamlines what would be a lot of information into a very accessible and engaging story ( doing so in what is not his native language ) excellent interview
I’m impressed.
He's trying to talk in an English accent instead of his russian accent. He sounds like Martin Short in that movie, "Father of the bride"
He went into exile in London & developed his proficiency in English there. Why does Maria Sharapova speak with an American accent? She moved there as a child.
Some issues are very similar to Spain with Catalonia
Andres English is difficult for me to understand.
Would his Russian be easier? French? Spanish? Dumb it down for you?
Wasn't Putin's dad a former KGB (or NKVD) guy?
@Social Gadfly false. He was an NKVD operative.
Putin's father was NKVD/KGB.
Someone suggested he may have been SMERSH.
In that episode, I was amazed that the interviewer changed direction. Who exactly controlled SMERSH depends on who you ask.
Some police in WWII who was disabled with one son (s of Putin bros died before his arrival) and his parents were 40 = so spoiled Putin rather than having lots of kids to support.
Wow! So interesting
I am glad that nationalism is mentioned and analyzed very well.
Counterterrorist operation... Special military operation...
That sounds familiar
Just like in the US with the Civil War statues in the South.
So every person that says that Rusia is right and Putin is the best president, should listen to this and understand the mind of a dictator, one that do not care about human beens, and look at them as peaces of a puzzle he can change and play with it.
🌹
This man realy creddible, very intressting
Before Putin came to power, he was the babysitter for Leningrad Mayor Sobchak’s young daughter. When she grew up, she tried to run against Putin as an opposition presidential candidate. Where is she now?
Wow this guy...good reporther tho..
Stay safe, Mr Soldatov. Russia doesn’t need another martyr. Watch your back all the time.
23:45 sounds familiar
More I listen to this series, more I find everyone parroting the same things.
Almost as if they prepared from the same write-up.
The stories are very similar.
You think that they would be more credible if they were all different?
No.@@joe_ninety_one5076
Subcontracting for military operations is a nice way of saying mercenaries. The US did it in Iraq.
Interesting
it was all a surprise. Seems like it still is
So what. He wasn’t like dying. Yes it’s confusing, but it doesn’t mean you are going to wake up as an ax murderer.
How come he has a (heavy) Chinese accent?
How come you have no knowledge of linguistics?
How come you speak only English.

Great site. Surely the Fsb (cheers) also learns a lot :). That is a definite proof of quality.
No sure about being confused perhaps realisation change of position is inevitable.

if so he may have had more connections than this video might suggest.
How do you mean?

Putin arrives in Dresden in 1985 at the tipping point of the Cold War. I arrived in McLean, Virginia, as a defense contractor at that time. The Berlin Wall fell in 1989 and Communism collapsed in 1991. The Cold War was over. Almost unemployed. Putin got a job as a taxi driver and moved back to St. Petersburg and became vice-mayor. For my crowd along came Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Ladin, 2001-2012.
This guy’s accent is all over the place
So? He is fully capable of explaining his insights and that's what matter
That’s because he is self-taught. He learned the language by himself with books, so he pronounces every syllable, even those that should be silent.

I don't morally approve of KGB practices, and won't support them. I supported Russian unity before but I don't know anymore. They are being manipulated horribly. [Updated]
@@MrAnubhabd I morally approve of intelligence. Bad practices I don't approve of. I hope that answer will satisfy you :)
Anubhab Dutta There is no moral equivalence between the CIA and the KGB. I generally align myself with a western outlook. I don’t know enough about CIA bad practices to doubt their quality. Russian agents have been very naughty recently. If it’s not blowing up airliners, it’s interfering with elections, or poisoning people with chemical weapons. The CIA are pussycats in comparison.
@@jamesmurray_scot You are right. You don't know anything about what CIA has done. I suppose the brutality of the KGB was probably considered somewhat crude to the Dulles brothers, or ungentlemanly at best. You do it right, you put a patsy on the scene. Lone nut gunman. And, toxins, lol. Old hat to Darpa and its predecessors and successors.
They even developed a fast-acting cancer as a murder weapon. Google "Doctor Mary's Monkey".

Everyone spies on everyone. Is it possible for Russia to live peacefully with the West?
Apparently not.
Yes of course, if they stopped government corruption and their kleptocracy.
As is, they will create more Vladolfs as they don't learn from history
We have this huge problem! Seems not to!
Entire shows are made of people, literally paid to study Putin, talking endlessly about him and trying to figure him out.
Moscow started to play like the West, finally. Good for them!
It’s always moscow, it’s always putin.. it’s an american mi d set..
Watch The Putin interviews by Oliver Stone. This on the otherhand is pure propaganda.
More interesting to watch paint dry.
Only of you're naive enough to believe Putin's own words as fact over the accounts of numerous Russian journalists. Reasonable people recognize Putin as pushing his own self serving propaganda.
I saw that hand holding session. No news there. Just warm fuzzies. That interview was not designed to be critical of Putin therefore it was feckless and impotent.
Amen. This is an obvious hit piece designed to brainwash those who refuse to do their own homework into a complacency for an actual war with Russia. But they are too stupid to understand what it actually is. All they want to see is the unproven hacking helped Trump because they hate Trump. This series is far more than anti-Trump propaganda!!
This is one interview in a series of interviews with those who know or have studied Russia. All of the interviews try to answer: "Who is Putin?" Watch the whole series to put this interview in context before calling just one piece of a work a "hit piece".
"Journalism excellence"
lmao, nice propaganda there, buddy...
The way this young guy talks it sounds like he held a high position in the Kremlin, which he obviously didn’t. Perhaps he’s trying to sell his books and needs people to believe his stories. It’s amazing how the people being interviewed on this series all claim to know what Putin and or The Kremlin was thinking. I can’t believe a word they say.
Roger G is yet another poor troll from America in its death throes ...

How would Russia be better without Putin ? Please help .I don’t understand.
The only answer I can see is the plot by dividing the country.?
Putin steals all the resources (money) from Russia, divided it between himself and his mafia. All while people starve and the country falls apart. You know the answer.
Russia might have a chance of leadership without brutality.
