This happened to my sister-in-law in the 1960's. Her baby lived 15 minutes and the catholic church would not bury him in the church yard. He was put in a far part in a wooded area. Our family said at the time that it was just the place a boy would like to play and it comforted my sister-in-law. I did not know this legend though. Its wonderful. Thank you.
I absolutely love this video. You've put words to so many of my beliefs as well. Beliefs that I have cultivated in my adult years, to the chagrin of many of my christian family members. I believe that the energy of the Spirit that resides inside our body is indestructible and is continually renewed, recycled if you will, again and again. No religion on Earth can define what goes on with our Spirit when it leaves the body, or deem it lost or worthless. This has all been done over time to gain control of people and their resources. The only merit that I personally give to religion, is the sense of community that it sometimes fosters, and its meditative dimensions that slow down anxiousness. Thank You Colette. 🌍🌱🌀🌿🍃🌾🌎♻️
Your story reminds me of a poem I once read. "So they buried her in a spot, unblessed by any other religion save love. A gypsy spirit in a gypsy place, where nature wore her hair unkempt for her banished children."
I believe the fae would look after the baby. I as a Celt believe my ancestors have a very strong connection with our home our world and as a child I felt it and saw it,. My family is Christian they Consider me the black sheep, so as it be, I'm happy for this. I saw the movie The Field years ago. It is a very good film to watch. If we don't call them fairy's what do we call them? It is done with the highest respect by me. Many blessings Colette xx
I would rather have any infant or suicide victim be cared for by the faeries. To be loved is the most precious gift and that in my mind is the ultimate gift. Nga mihi nui - precious blessings.
this video was so touching. thank you for the extra info. and the stories. I agree with you. Makes no sence to condem those who pass how ever it happens as it is the will of the creator/source/universe. Everything happens for a reason.
I have just discovered your charming site and subscribed straight away. I love your calm voice, your love of the land and, of course, your love of the faery folk. I have written a faery novel, the first of a series, and your videos have completely captivated my imagination. I live in the U.S. but my ancestry is from Ireland and Scotland. No wonder the faeries like to hang around me. It's good to know there are people in the world such as yourself. :)
What an informative video, Colette. I just recently rewatched the movie based on Thomas Hardy‘s novel ‘Tess of the d’Urbervilles’ & there is a scene in the movie about the burying of an infant outside of the church cemetery because Tess was not married when the baby died and they would not baptize the baby. So heartbreaking of a scene but that gave me some background into what you were just telling us in this video so it all made sense to me. how cruel the world can be. thank you for the fairy story & the stone was probably placed there for the reasons you described.
OMG 😱 loved the heads up on fuchsia plant , always been my moms and my favorite, I’ve lived in Florida for 30 years, but hail from New Jersey really miss the fuchsia and northern plants, especially Moss ! 💕 love your channel, you’ve got skills girl 👧!
I remember as a child learning in catechism that the Catholic Church allowed laymen to baptise someone in emergency cases. My Irish grammie baptised my daughter when she was just a few months old because she feared I wouldn't do it and my daughter would spend her life in limbo. She was a good grammie.
How fascinating--it feels as if your theory is true, feeling what dwells in the dell, even from thousands of miles away and on video! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, researches, and reverence. Rookie question: is a fairy thorn the same as a blackthorn or a hawthorn? I've seen hawthorns here in Oregon, but not blackthorn...of which those famous shillelaghs were made, too?
The Fairy Thorn is a Hawthorn growing all on it's own, usually in the middle of a field. This land was bare fields at the beginning of the Bealtaine Project.
Do you think a baby is there? So sad. I was captivated by this. As I played this video a firefly was outside my window blinking. They remind me of 🧚♀️ fairies. I noticed one of the tree limbs seemed to be touching the stone. 😔 its a haunting story.
It is important to understand why conflict and hate has been generated and encouraged in some cases between nations that are spiritual and those created on matterialism as a general conscensis because we all know everywhere that has bad ALSO has good. This is why there is a defecit to a connection to nature why we have 3rd world countries and 2nd class citizens, prejadice, persecution... etc anything to make people disconnect from the oneness we all are to each other and nature.
I have tried and tried to get the name of the story by John B. King (?). If you know what she is saying and how to spell it, I would be much appreciative.

If millions listened, watched and replicated the love you have for nature, the world would shatter this debt and death paradigm.
+Anon amouse And you speak a great truth...it is a debt and death paradigm indeed. Blessings X

Sad and cruel...such was the way of the world then, with women being targeted especially!
I could stay in there all day. Love the sound of rain and fresh forest.
Thank you for sharing. Such a beautiful place ~

How did you get rid of the brambles? I'm facing a thicket of 10 foot high blackberries. They send out runners and are very enthusiastic.
Cut and drop and cut some more, over and over. No other way sorry. I have some and that is what I do.

I found it! The Movie is THE FIELD with Richard Harris. Story author was John B. Keane
