Thank you, this is clearly a Winner! This fits me perfectly because I’m a woman & I have lost my hair. I’ve always had trouble getting bandanas to fit right. Thank you so much. I made my 1st one & now I’m gonna make more in different colors.
I have a smaller head & really thin hair so i havent ever been able to make or wear bandanas & i really love the look so THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH for sharing this tutorial & i really look forward to seeing more from you. Again, thank you ❤❤❤❤❤
Helllllll yessssss! I have been looking for something like this. i was always wondering why a normal bandanna pattern looks so weird on me and just thought that i couldn't pull them off, but now i know why!!! just made this pattern last night and it turned out so cute. i wore it to work and got so many compliments on it. btw you are an amazing teacher, i really loved how you explained things. i didn't have one question throughout the whole video. you're amazing! thank you for making this video!
Thank you so much. I was looking for a good bandana to crochet for my mom, who is about to go trough chemotherapy and would be easy to do, since I’m a beginner. This seems to be a good idea for a bald head.
This pattern is perfect for small heads, like me and was concerned for the very same reasons when making a normal triangle. Great job doing your first tutorial, too, Ali! Looking forward to more videos from you!!! Thank you and have a great day!
I love this, I just made a regular triangle bandana and it sat so weird! This is perfect I can't wait to try. Your video is great! The setup works perfectly, we can clearly see what you are doing. I loved the notebook explanation at the start to get that visual before adding the yarn. Awesome video ❤ thank you!
super excited to try this out! thank you for your pattern, i shave my head and wear wigs and nothing ever looks right near my ears and hurts with my wigs, especially because i have a very small head. ready to try!!!!!
This tutorial was so good I had to watch it again and make one for my mom! Its so cute and beginner friendly, especially nice for my first bandana. Thank you!💜
I have made a lot of bandana and want wear them because of the bulk at my ears and the back was all ways to short for me I will be trying your design out thank you for sharing
Thank you for this tutorial I crocheted a few only to have them flair out on the sides. Excited to try this pattern. I’ve been looking for this to come out.❤
I am like the other commenters. I so wish I stumbled upon your video first. I made my first bandana, and did everything that I was supposed to do, and you were exactly right! It was too big to where I could honestly tie it around my waist. So, I’m really excited to start making your pattern, and I’m sure everything will turn out great! Thank you for sharing this pattern with us, and you did really well on your first video, and I did subscribe ☺️!
I love this! I had that bulking problem and also couldn't understand why it didnt look good on me, and now it makes sense! And i could also apply this technique to other bandana patterns 😊 now I'm gonna make some regular ones and those ones to sell at the market.
You did just fine! Your video was great and you explained everything 30:23 very well. Your method if videoing was great. I saw no problems whatsoever with your filming it and it was as good as any ive seen. Keep going, you're doing great! ❤😊
Ive never liked the side bulk folds either, and have searched different videos to find a pattern that doesnt look like that so much when put on. It's hard to find! So this one may work for me. Not sure yet. I'm using coboo yarn. Hope this one will work for me. Thanks! 😊
I’m sooooo happy I found you before I began another bandana tutorial because absolutely that bulk is a hot mess! I’m so excited to start this, thank you! Best of luck on your channel, I think you’ll blow up fast!🙏💜
You did wonderful for your first tutorial. I'm definitely going to make one of these. Its going to be neat to watch you grow on this platform. Blessings!
thank you for this tutorial! it was lovely 🥰 I was looking for a pattern for a bandana and gladly I followed this one straight away. I’m not used to wearing bandanas so it still feels kinda weird but it turned out beautiful! 💜
This is great! When I was making bananas and they were so bulky I thought it was something I was doing wrong but this tutorial was perfect!! Thank you!!!
Great pattern. My daughter can wear any kind of head covering at work and I think she will love this bandanna. I can’t wait to make a bunch of colors for her. Thanks. BTW love the nail color 🩷
This is almost exactly what I needed! There’s nothing out there like it. Now if you could show me how to crochet it with shaping, as if you would then stitch the “notches” closed. That’s exactly what I need. A crochet bandana/kerchief with side shaping, something like the crochet masks.
Ali, you have done a fabulous job with the tutorial. I had downloaded a bandana pattern from Berroco: BULSARA; followed it until I began with the extensions. (Very similar to yours, except it does not have the extension !). I used Lion brand cotton-fetti blend - very splitty, but manageable. Hook G, could not find my H hook😮. Worked just as well. Thanks Delia
Great video!!! I just got done watching it and writing some pointers down and will be making it soon!!! And will be sharing the video to crochet lovers that I know ❤️ thank you ❤
HI Great job on this tutorial. So far so good, if you decided to add a scalloped edge, could you just add it to the built up edge only? Also, when you wear it do you kind of fold the corners of the built up part under?- Thanks
Just an aside - stylecraft special dk acrylic yarn gets SUPER drapey if you wash and dry it in machines. I always do hand wash cycle or cold, and then only dry it long enough for it to be completely dry. Super, super soft though.
I have a big head, 23.5” (which is supposedly even big for guys lol) but super fine hair. I can’t unsee the tricorn hat problem! Pretty bummed as I keep finding awesome bandana patterns but then they look awful on me. Thank you for this.
Hey, amazing design and video! I have a question, can you please give dimensions in inches of the width of the bandana and length. I am using thread to crochet and sizing looks very different and it's confusing me a bit.
thanks alot its my problem that triangle long base if i want to increase width and not suitable i wish you good luck jn your channel i am from egypt i like you very much
Does the ch2 ring method work with this? (I find magic rings difficult and so I ch 2 and insert into the first to start a small plush or just something for my hands to do at school.)
Thanks for the great tutorial! Since I'm not a fan of the granny stitch I'm thinking about doing the bandana with a different stitch. Do I have to decrease on both sides of the second part in order to get the straight edges?
Do you think lace etc could be crocheted onto this? Like a scallop edge? Maybe only across the front?

Hello, I'm a beginner so I'm still learning about yarns.. Right now I have a cotton yarn, probably in weight 1 or 2 and instructions recommend to use size 2,25-2,5 hook. I also have yarns in weight 4-5 but they are wool so I believe it would be very hot for summer... Can I make this headband with the cotton yard I have? Thank you so much
I'm not sure what i did wrong but mine doesn't look the same way yours does when worn 😭 its the same sizing & stitch amounts as yours but i still have some bulky sides. Do I need to block it or does my hair have to be down for it to work better? I love how yours looks when worn but I don't know what I did wrong/different. If anyone has any advice I'd love it please 😭
@@izzydanvers2014 it might just be a little big and you’ll have to frog back a few rows to get it to lay right for your head size! You can always DM me on insta for help!!
Great tutorial! Like you, I also have fine/thin hair and have struggled with making the “perfect” bandana for myself. Definitely giving this a try. I do have one question though...if I wanted to use a size 1 yarn (I thought a finer yarn might work better and not be weighted/bulky) what hook size would you recommend and should I double strand?
Hey there! so confession - I have never worked with a weight 1 yarn! Lol So tbh I am not sure. If I did, I think I would double it and use a size 3.5 hook or maybe 3.
Halp I'm 14 rows in making this but with worsted weight and a 4 hook, its bulky already before fitting my head around or having even started the second portion. Any suggestions for me?
I think the worsted weight is going to be too bulky! However, the ends of the first part of the triangle don't have to touch under your head. You can frog your rows until it doesn't look bulky anymore, then start the second part of the triangle. Your ties will just start at your ears instead.
Thank you so much for replying! I should've known better using the wrong weight. I appreciate your suggestion, I'll try it out! Also I plan to go buy the right yarn and start over ☺️
The "straight edge" of my bandanna is curving. The edge that goes from ear to ear in the front. I think its the last double crochet in the row. I'm going to try putting it in the top of the chain 4 instead of in the chain one space. Otherwise its coming out pretty cute.
i keep getting a bump on the base where that initial chain 4 is…idk what to do😭😭😭😭i tried chaining 4 on the other side to mimic the bump but then it just doesnt work at all😢
Hi Ali. I just made this bandana and it is still bulky. I measured my head afterwards and it is 20 1/2 inches. IDK what I might have done wrong. Thank you.
I am so sorry it did not work out! Could be a few things, hook size, yarn type, etc. Try again and perhaps don't make the base go all the way around your head. Instead stop it behind your ears and make the ties longer. Also make the lengthened part a bit shorter.
I'm almost afraid how catered this tutorial is for me, I just made a triangle bandana with size 4 yarn and yeah it is bulky and pretty much unwearable and then like a week later this pops up on youtube. I'm gonna try this soon.
Made 2 bulky bandana’s today and then found your tutorial!! Frogging one now, the yarn is special to me. Thanks so much, great tutorial!!!
The ‘no bulky sides’ in the title…THANK YOU! I’m so tired of having little kerchief wings.

I was so skeptical of the shape but it folds so nicely there that you can’t even tell. Great idea. Can’t wait to try it.
the way your nail color matches the bandana is so cutee❤

I love this pattern and have been trying to figure out a way to solve this dilema with my bandanas! Thank you so very much for making this pattern ❤
Love this totally agree with you ❤😊
If you do the ties after the main triangle before cutting the yarn there will be less ends to sew in
❤ TFS, great job!

Can this be done if your coming from the back point?
Just wondering how much wool this took you to make. Just that 1 ball or more?
love this tutorial!! what kind of stand do you use to film top-down like this?? I'm always so curious how people do it
