    @RCArczi In general, especially with young offenders, I would say that the goal of judicial punishment should be rehabilitation, rather than merely revenge or restitution. However, with hardened criminals, murderers, rapists, one must also consider the safety of society and the concept of paying for one's crimes. You can find these discussed in any textbook on criminology. For a brief introduction, you can even check out "Criminology for Dummies" which you can find in a book store or on line.

    You are correct about jobs not growing on trees. The fact that people start businesses at great personal risk (which is a burden) therefore entitles them to the profits that the company makes (benefits), under a capitalist, or merit-based system. If you watch my second video "Ethics 8 Distributive Justice," you'll see that I talk in greater detail about the "material" principles of distributive justice, and what it is that separates, for example, capitalism from socialism.
