    Traveling with Rav YY Jacobson to the Alter Rebbe in the Ukraine and hearing so much Torah and chassidus then until now… all makes deep soulful sense… no questions as Avraham Fried sang…

    I'm not Jewish are they actually saying something or is it just a bunch of noises

      They are playing off the idea that singing is a deep form of the soul's communication. The 'questions' and 'answers' are metaphorical. Musically, chants are often calls and responses. So it's not 'noise', but just wordless singing while meditating on self, life, and G-d. (At least that's my interpretation). The actual vocalized sounds don't have a specific meaning.
