Every home and business should install a rain water collection and storage system along with solar panels and battery storage. Even in areas where rain is infrequent it is crazy to waste the little rain that does fall and waste it. We need to stop planting green lawns and switch to local native plantings around homes. It is crazy to plant lawns and build golf courses in dry desert areas. We waste too much water and electricity.
Regrettably there has to be a balance ref energy use so to speak if used in rural areas as in "off the grid". Perhaps we'll see this sort of thing on an industrial scale in high density population centres ... we could call them ... err ... um ... sewage works! That might work. Perhaps they might be useful in marine applications to reduce pollution into rivers and littoral.
The more expensive water is the more people will use it sparingly and the same goes for energy. Unfortunately like the railways it's difficult to have competition between companies for the supply of water. Competition is good and drives efficiency but for some products it just doesn't work.
What an idiot. Water is free. Why should people pay for it? Are you so stupid to want to put more financial pressure on people that can’t afford to eat or heat their homes? This is the most ridiculous comment I’ve ever seen.
In my country when I tell people not to waste underground clean water people think I am crazy because they believe they have unlimited amount of water which will remain free forever 😐
No to the sustainability rip off. No to high energy prices and smart meters. And come on water? It rains all the time in the UK and we're still charged for it.
AT HOME? No. It's corporations like coca cola that waste so much water, and produce plastic. It's them that should stop the waste. Stop blaming normal people
@@chrisfranklin7547 Their industrial process cuts costs so that the investors make more money, but in that they waste a lot of water. They also buy out large reservoirs to produce their drinks, and local people can't buy water because the supply gets so small and it's too expensive for them. This is most prevalent in south america. Not only Coca Cola is at fault here, many other large international corporations do the same thing. Only profits matter to them and they destroy the planet for them.
0:39 Unless you're living off grid I don't really see the benefits of recycling some grey water at home like this yourself for $2K plus servicing costs per bathroom(?) The water company does water recycling on larger and more efficient scale. A much simpler system is to just store grey water (from showers, baths) and use it to flush the toilets.
My low tech solution : Suspend a 5 litre pail from your showerhead while waiting for the hot water to arrive. Just hook it over the shower head. Save it in another larger pail and use it to fill your toilet tank. By doing this ,I never need to use new water to flush my toilet !
How long before the $2000 recycling toilet pays for itself? If it full of crap, and you don't use lots of water because you're recovering it, the crap from the toilet will clog it up and you'll pay $500 to get it serviced. Maybe you can't do number two in that toilet and have a separate bucket for t/p. What happened to collecting rain water from the roof into a barrel for the garden? People who can spray out of a hose day and night, probably have enough money to pay for it.

Population needs to be in balance with jobs, resources, nature and the environment. Having a bigger population in any country than the country can support makes no sense. Access to food, water, shelter, energy and jobs should guide population levels. The worlds population is still expected to add another billion people to feed, clothe and produce pollution. Humans are crowding out all other species of plants and animals. Education and birth control are key to reducing poverty and hunger. Having a child that you can not provide for yourself is cruel and irresponsible. We need solutions not just sympathy. Endless population growth is not sustainable on a finite planet. Every country needs to "TRY" to be more self sufficient. When there are not enough resources to sustain a population something has to give. Countries need to focus on quality of life for their citizens and not just quantity of life for cheap labor. Why import fossil fuels when wind and solar energy can be produced locally and solar energy can power electric vehicles. We need solutions not just sympathy.
