Had the absolutely insane honor of jamming with him at Andy Wood's shredcamp last year and he is one of the most refreshing humans out there. Just awesome to be around.
Great feel, great tones, the fuzz sounds awesome. The accompaniment can’t be understated here though, they provide an awesome reactive platform for him to jump off!
Great great job w this transcription man. If you havent checked out this entire album you REALLY should! Its friggin killer!!! Bob Reynolds writes some wicked cool tunes
One of my good buddies used to take lesson from mark back in Texas and he only has good things to say about his personality. Super kind, knowledgeable and we all know his playing😮💨
He seem like a blend between Clapton and Beck at the beginning, but then unleashes the speed demon. Great phrasing, finesse, and overall technique without 'overdoing' it. Fantastic player.
Been on of my favorites for along time now and he's an extremely nice guy. Love his solo stuff !! One of my favorite things about him is how good his rhythm playing is !!
There are plenty of apps that can do this. I would not call them great. They all suck. That doesn't mean that some time in the future they won't be better. But for now it's the equivalent of speech to text in the 90s.
Let me elaborate a little. at this point computers cannot detect or infer "inflection" or "purpose". To transcribe a piece of music like this, you need to be able to understand what the intention of the guitar player was, and the only way to understand that is to be a guitar player. 20-30 years ago publishing companies thought it was completely acceptable and prudent to employ their on-staff piano players (as brilliant as they were) to just notate the guitar parts as well. Over time, those transcriptions have not held up. You can find countless examples in the highest profile transcription of the past. While the notes may have been similar the tablature equated to guitar nonsense.
I know, i know .😂 gush gush, This was genuinely so good it hurts. You impress me with all of your transcriptions but holy moly this one takes the cake so far.
Every player so far has been just Great! But, since I heard Scott Henderson, that's the direction that I prefer! Blues, jazz, psychedelic together is so stimulating! His music is from multiple planets, these guys, as great as they are, are from Earth!
Thanks again Levi,as always a great choice of material. Was just wondering where is his signature PRS? looks like he still loves his trusty Strat. if you ever get a chance Levi would you be able to transcribe any of his baritone guitar amazingness. It would give you a great excuse to buy another guitar if you don’t already have a baritone ;)
As a Texan, I can't help but weep, in a good way, at the SRV references he throws in here and there. There's a lot more than that going on in this solo that deserves comment, but I'll let the rest of y'all handle that.
I love it when my wish to YT deep dive an artist, and a free weekend are synced up. Edit: 24 hours later… I know of the Jacob Collier link, but I’ve never checked out Snarky Puppy. Shame on me!
I don’t think a Grammy is a reliable measurement of anything other than popularity. This guy isn’t good because he gets Grammys. He’s good because he’s good.
@@LeviClay it was probably the title “when your guitar playing is so good, you just keep winning Grammys“. Implying, there’s a correlation between good music and winning Grammys.

Hey Levi, just came across this! Great transcription as always - and I appreciate the support and shout out, dude!
cheers dude! You keep being the man! :D
just saw you when you came out with plini in Dallas, that jam was legendary!
Saw you in Santa Cruz, CA--you rock, man. Maybe you'll see me on a big stage sometime.
Why aren't you using your signature prs? I guess you don't have to only play your signature guitar. It just surprised me when I saw that strat.
@@Douglas_I Ha, well no, I don’t have to only play PRS guitars, but this performance is from January of 2016…the Fiore arrived in January of 2021 ;)
Lettieri!!! Such a monster player and friendly guy
I don't know if they have, but a duo - duel Lettieri / Hutchings must be something out of this world!
I love the "turn up pedal" in the tab at 1:46 😁
gotta be accurate!
Thanks!
The phrasing and the build up is just insane. Perfect tempo and amazing note choices.

One of my fav solo. Just building up .. the phrasing … the control.
One of my good buddies used to take lesson from mark back in Texas and he only has good things to say about his personality. Super kind, knowledgeable and we all know his playing😮💨
This solo will go down as a masterclass in feel and dynamics.
He seem like a blend between Clapton and Beck at the beginning, but then unleashes the speed demon.
Great phrasing, finesse, and overall technique without 'overdoing' it. Fantastic player.
Love Mark’s playing. So many cool influences.
Great lines, some of it reminds me of Jeff Beck, but it is played even more virtuously here. Thanks for the notes.
The fact that he uses his thumb and a Strat is likely a tribute to Jeff Beck
Basically Scott Henderson then?
There’s some Jim Campilongo in there as well.
There is definitely some Filipino in there too
Definitely coming back to this later to learn some of these licks.
needed this video two years ago, but its never late!
should have commissioned it two years ago :P
@@LeviClay HAHAHAHA i didnt mean it in a harsh way😂❤️
@@andergarciarodriguez1356 I know, I meant I could have helped back then! 😂
Bro this is one of my favorite solos of all time. Thanks a lot for this
There should be a G3 with Mark Lettieri, Ariel Posen, and Derek Trucks.
I would sell my left bollock to see that show

Loving your new book, Levi!
thanks so much for checking it out!
I love this performance man, goddamn it is so clean and durty.
i absolutely love this track after tidal recommended it to me…this band is pure 🔥
The baritone session albums are some of the most fun guitar centric instrumentals ever written, highly recommend checking them out
Magnetar!!
Like EVH except he’s actually playing the changes and they’re heavy ones.
Dying over the JB homage early ❤❤❤❤❤
I love that tone. Just the right amount of dirt.
A true beast of beasts! Total respect for him
ALways wanted to transcribe this. Thanks Levi! Gem as usual :)

is there a great app or program that can take audio and transcribe or tab it ? thanks.

One of my favourite solos ever ❤
Is this same place Julian Lage played for his Live in LA videos???
I love the (turn pedal up) sign ahah
Insanely good player! Precise as a Govan but with note choices and phrasing of a pissed off angel.
"...note choices and phrasing of a pissed off angel." !! Gonna steal that one, if you don't mind ...
Can you tab his flood intro at the SuproUsa
This guy's got the bee and the bop.

This was probably from before that guitar came out. The Bob Reynolds Guitar Band album was released in 2017, the Fiore came out in 2021 I believe?
Mark is insane ...great great...
The moment his level is to low at 1:48 only to follow up with a high speed lick.
Those were some terrifying little arpeggio bits in there
The title of this video should be "all of John Mayer's solos and riffs combined"
That was nasty. I'd like to see him and Oz Noy dual on a track like this
did this guy play on snarky puppey we like it here? he looks familiar
if I sub to pateron can are the tab available in guitar pro?
Yep
This album is so good
Mark is cooking here!
Not referring to any instrumentalist = but one wins Grammy's for selling records, not for being "good."
Thaaaaaannnnnnks 🥰

Nir Felder in the background with his Mexican Strat.
Jeff Beckish.Very nice tone and playing style
Honky tonky southern soul
Wow - that's tasty playing.

Holy smokes!
Mark’s becoming one of my favorite players. Outstanding. Thanks, Levi.
HOW
Anybody know what guitar he's playing here? Obvs looks like a very nice Strat but ...
I think he was playing a Grosh then. Now he has a signature PRS, The Fiore.
He's got the groove - is he using his ipad to assist?
Has anyone shown this to Carlos Santana?
Guy's playing is fantastic.

He’s the guitar version of Cory Henry
relax lol
*turn up pedal*
Cool ...but i didn't find good backing track for this solo
It’s like Jeff Beck but it’s not at the same time.
Hes not winning grammyss for his playing though. The GROUP is winning grammys. So its Michael Leagues win.

Is it me or does this sound a lot like Ted Nugent’s Stranglehold
he sounded much better with that Grosh strat than with the prs
hear some Oz Noy
