I also like animating anchor point instead of position because if you want to animate the zoom, it works better if you've positioned the frame by anchor point instead of the position controls I've found.
Still a little confused how this is better than scaling - transform? Is it because the file is somehow being handled by PP as an HD file insted of a scaled larger file? 😃
Scaling a frame changes the properties like scale where Nesting does not. The scaling happens before it hits the Timeline. If you haven't added any other properties or effects, then it probably doesn't make a difference.

Yes I change the Anchor Point but only if I want a different animation to occur.

Try: Preferences > Media then change Default Media Scaling to (set to frame size), It will the frame size of every clip to match the sequence size ^_^
