YOU ARE CORRECT! I wasted hours trying to link the chimes with an android. After feeling like a moron and getting ready to give up I used my wife's IPhone and it connected immediately with no issues. Ring Corp need to place a warning label on the chime that reads: IT WILL NOT CONNECT BY USING AN ANDROID. Or "CONNECT ONLY WITH IPHONE." Thanks a million, you did save a few of my neurons after having wasted a few hours on a preventable situation if the manufacturer would have noted this PROBLEM. Thanks again for posting this video.
I had the same problem with my android phone. I was on the phone for two hours with a ring tech. She was very patient with me, I was ready to give up. We finally got it working, but I have to move the chime to a different location, will I have to reinstall it?
Good thing I watched this video. I bought my ring doorbell and chime as a bundle, not realising that the doorbell and chime each have SEPARATE QR codes for set-up! I didn't realise this until I watched the video. Cheers!
I'm glad you mentioned you had trouble with your Android phone. I haven't been able to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Let's hope I can figure something out...
Great, helpful info! We knew ZERO about chime prior to seeing your video. Apparently we need a chime now because after installing a Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Generation (wired), it seems that particular Ring product INACTIVATES your existing wired doorbell! Ring's website does not mention that! Our wired doorbell has worked for 35 years, including WITH the Ring Video 2 (wired), which we used to have). Your information was VERY helpful about helping us understand the chime component. Thank you.
I had the same trouble connecting my chime using an android phone. I managed to work around it by manually installing the router settings. Works perfectly now.
Tks for the video. I wasn't aware that this is a device designed to be pluggled in an electric outlet and I am wondering why it is not mentioned in the Ring website. Tks again for your help! You should charge Ring for the sales you bring to them 🙂
I’m getting my ring doorbell and ring chime on Monday so I’ll Be in’s Tsing the doorbell as well the chime with the help of your video That’s a great video , Do u have the video for the ring doorbell on how to install it ? Great video Well explain
At first my Android Samsung S22 did not want to join the Wi-Fi. Took me 10 minutes to try. I restarted my phone, started over, and in seconds it went through flawlessly.
So I got ring pro and chime The app works fine Doorbell works fine get notifications on phone for doorbell press and motions In house the chime motions ring but when the doorbell is pressed the chime dosnet go off??? Any suggestions
My home is built 1998. Got a smart doorbell wired ver with e chime. They work j fine BUT I still hear old doorbell ringing ding ding...along with new e chime. Can I remove old chime?
If I w,ant to replace my wired chime with this chime. Do I disconnect the old chime? But the wiring is connected to the ring door bell thru the old chime. What do you do?
Does it ring if you have motion detection on? Because I need motion detection on 24/7 but I only want the chime to ring when someone presses the doorbell only. Is that possible?
@@IsabellsNannyRuby you can choose if you want ring on motion detection or not. But it only rings once when you press it, and you have to wait for the notification event to end before it can be pressed again. It takes about 50sec. So it doesn't really work as a normal doorbell. It's a notification alarm really.
If my existing doorbell on the inside of the house no longer work, could this be a replacement because now my outside ring doorbell doesn’t work any more???
you mean an extension ringer? no you don't but if like me and don't carry your phone around the house with you.. or often the phone is not in the same room... having an external ringer is essential for me if I don't want to miss a caller. I placed the ringer in a socket central to the house so i can hear the bell/ringer, mostly anywhere. You can then get your phone and look at who is there and speak to them if you wish.. or not.. LOL
Mine doesn't even connect to the wifi. It always ends with "Hmm. Something Went Wrong" I've restarted my router. I don't know what settings need to be changed on the router. Everything else connects to the wifi without any issues. The videos provided by Ring are no help either. Starting to believe the Ring Chime I purchased is defective.
So I set it up exactly like this didn't work...then came here found this video exactly how I set it up, and went step by step and still nothing...I don't hear it
Any of you able to get your Chime to work? Mine is online and connected to the main Ring doorbell. It plays test sounds via the app but it doesn't do anything when the main doorbell button is pressed or motion is detected
How are you able to use an Apple phone when you set all your information up on an Android phone because I'm having that problem now my Android phone won't connect to the doorbell ring my wife have an Apple phone so I want to use hers
Does this chime works with Only the ring app or can I connect an eufy bell to it? I also really want to see the footage on my google hub screen ween Someone rimgs..is all this possible with eufy?

To the person who recorded this video i pray that you remove this copy of this video. So you can blur out your personal home address. With a small screen you can't see it. But something like television or projector you can. So take this copy down, once you see it, and edit the video. So we can't see your home address. And put a new copy up with blocking your address.

You have to install a high voltage transformer to your existing doorbell chime.
