- The only thing more bizarre than a 16ft, or nearly 5-meter tall statue, depicting a 5 legged human headed Bull with Wings, (which btw, was carved out of one massive piece of stone, and weighing some 40 Imperial tons, or 80 THOUSAND POUNDS). - Yes, the only thing stranger than this statue and the few others like it, is how and where they found them…Buried and consumed in earth, almost as if they were devoured by some sort of Cataclysmic mud-flood like event. These spectacular, yet ominous Winged-Bull sculptures are known as the Lamassu, and are among the remnants of the Assyrian Empire which made up the heart of Ancient Mesopotamia, or commonly referred to as, the Fertile Crescent. And I have to say that, the only thing more bizarre than the statues themselves, or how and where they found them, - is the deliberate, continued, and systematic destruction of Ancient Iraq. Which let’s not forget, just so happens to be the very land that has long been referenced as the so-called, ‘The Cradle of Civilization’, the very place where the Sumerians emerged.

The pretext was a lie. The WMDs claim was a lie. The truth can be found in Zbigniew Brzezinski's book "The Grand Chessboard". And even that soft pedals the Imperialist motivations, and who's behind the scenes managing the Empire. The PNAC Document from 1999 gets a little more explicit about their plans - but still casts the US as the 'good guys' in the story.

as an iraqi i just want to thank you for admitting that the war on iraq was a crime aginst humanity, when i saw isis destroy those lamassu and the nergal gate it was one of the saddest moments in my life, i was also very frustraited and disapointed that our ancient history was being destroyed and nobody cared and those so called historians and human heratige organazition didnt lift a finger to opject those barbaric actions commited by isis aginst the momentum of history that mesopotamia brought to the world, sometimes i keep asking myself what would our ancestors think of us if they were with us today ? no doubt they would be sadly disaponted..

Launched in 2012 or 2013, it supplied money, weaponry and training to rebel forces fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian civil war. According to US officials, the program was run by the CIA's Special Activities Division and has trained thousands of rebels. President Barack Obama secretly authorized the CIA to begin arming Syria's embattled rebels in 2013. The program became public knowledge in mid-2016.

As a Mosuli, thank you so much for this video. I drive by these gates every day. The good news is, it is possible to reconstruct the same walls using the rubble that is still left behind in the same place. Our university has archives describing every single detail of these walls and gates, thus its rebuilding is very possible. There are still many segments of Nineveh's ancient walls which were untouched thankfully. Also, a lot of the antiquities in Mosul museum were in Baghdad at the time which saved them. There are many Assyrian winged bulls to this date. Finally, it is comforting to know that there remains countless historical sites that remain unexcavated, within the walls of Nineveh themselves. I think it is better to not unearth them until Iraq goes back to its pre-2003 stability.
Nouri al-Maliki, former Iraqi Prime Minister, appointed by the US, literally gave an order to the Iraqi military to withdraw from Mosul city. It only took about 200-300 pickup trucks to take over the city in about three days. The Iraqi military did not fight at all. This confirms it was an absolute conspiracy, especially in regards with what was happening in Syria at the time.
We hope that our country stabilizes even more, and that you and your viewers can visit us and learn more about our, and humanity's, history. Mosul is currently the best it's been since 2003 and the level of safety is unprecedented.

I will however agree with you that the extremist, Wahhabi version of Islam, which came centuries after the founding of Islam, is a cancer to the Islamic community. It newly came to Iraq, thanks to Saudi funding and American political maneuvering. But it won't stay for long hopefully.

I’m half Assyrian. My family immigrated from Syria. Watching these artifacts being destroyed, is heartbreaking. Watch your heritage be destroyed and there is nothing to be done about it. Luckily, I was able to visit The Met and The Louvre in my lifetime and stand next to these. They are truly magnificent.
I recall there being a huge push to gather the artifacts as quickly as they could because there were those who knew their destruction was imminent! @pyropulse There are people in Iraq who call themselves Assyrian, they claim to be a distinct ethnic group descended from the Assyrian empire. Why do they claim this? Because they believe all the original Assyrians converted to Christianity before the Muslims invaded from Saudi Arabia. I don't know if this is true or not. I think it's a similar to people calling themselves Celts believing, they are a distinct ethnic group compared to the English. But no such Celtic gene has been found because it has mixed so much with other tribes that it's impossible to trace, even the Scots aren't Celts any longer, yet they still call themselves that. Whether Narsi Paul's ancestors built those statues, no one can tell. It's similar to the Coptic Christians in Egypt saying their ancestors built the pyramids. There's is no scientific genetic merit to these claims.
Good on you for calling out the War in Iraq for what it truly was. I think the reality of it resonates more with people when they hear it coming from a former soldier.

This makes me so depressed. Having studied immense history of the Middle East of both the ancient and medieval era, seeing all that historical stuff getting destroyed by Isis and other parties (yes even including the US, UK and other countries) is so heartbreaking. I too want to visit these places (hopefully some day as most areas have gotten safe from these extremist groups) and see the remaining stuff from my own eyes. Hopefully the remaining historical structures and artifacts are preserved. This part of the world needs to be preserved for the rich history of mankind!

Imagine how much harder it is to research Isis when you type it into your search engine and all you get is this group and war. The Lamassu represent the Four Guardians of Heaven. An ancient Persian idea that the four brightest stars in the Fixed Signs keep the world in balance. The bull, Taurus. Man, Aquarius. Scorpio used to be represented by the Eagle. Leo the Lion. That’s why the statues are part bull, part man, have wings and sometimes have lion paws or lion tails. These are the four same symbols that the four gospels share. John Luke Mark and Matthew each use one of these symbols. The Sphinx is lined up to the four Guardians which help us know where in the cycle of precession we currently are. Sphinx is a lion because it was built in Leo, that’s the starting point. As a veteran of the first Iraq war, I we uncovered coins and pottery while digging fox holes and every time we did it had to be reported. When it was, government officials would show up and take them away. I took pictures of one coin I found and sent the film home. It never arrived. It wasn't a picture of a maneuver or equipment, but a coin. Pictures of bombed out buildings and enemy equipment was delivered to my family, but the picture of a coin wasn't? I don't know what that means, but Iraq is worth more than the oil to someone, and not just because it is home to millions of mostly peace loving people.
All roads lead to the “ holy land” stolen from Palestine, given to “ them” after almost being wiped out, my friend. “ they” are everywhere, with hands on everything. The Middle East in disarray is what they are after, others doing their bidding but strings pulled from their holy land. We didn’t go far enough in the 1990s and we refused to do more, so they allowed our towers to be destroyed instead of help and ally, possibly even assisting, we will never know. It would not surprise me in the least if these ancient Symbols being destroyed have some importance to them.

In Central & South America the Toltec speak of a device used by the ancient 'Giants' (very large people) called an "ATL ATL". It was hand held and became "one" with the wearer. @@bethbabson913 Here's the thing, US prints US dollar on piece of paper and use that money to buy foreign physical goods and labor, and you get upset when foreigners use the US dollar they earned to buy US assets. This is what happens when you own the reserve currency and don't make any goods, they can only buy property or other assets. US dollar has to come back to US one way or another, US can't print money forever. This is really basic financial stuff and not hard to understand. US can get rid of reserve currency status of US dollar and you will never have this problem, but you'll have bigger issue if that happens. You're not doing yourself any favors by limiting foreign buyers, etc. You need other solutions.

I was in Iraq in the initial push in April 2003 and operated out of the north. We knew then that the war was not about oil. It is a well-known fact in that region of the world that whoever controls Iraq controls the Middle East and therefore the world. I was there almost 20 years ago in 2003-2004. My unit floated around a few places allowing me to see the Samarra Minaret and Ziggurat of Ur, though not able to touch either. Kali = 432,000 years or 1200 x 360

Treta = 1,296,000 years or 1200 x 360 x 3
Satya = 1,728,000 years or 1200 x 360 x 4
The number 432,000 has been found in Europe (1100 AD), India( very ancient, and 400 BC), Mesopotamia (c 300 BC)in reference to a cosmic eon.
At the moment of the Spring equinox (March 21) the heavens are never quite in the same position they were the year before, since there is an annual lag of 50 seconds which in the course of 72 years amounts to 1 degree (50" x 72 = 3600" = 60' = 1 degree) and in 2160 years amounts to 30 degrees or one sign of the zodiac.
For instance, today the sun stands in Aquarius at the Spring equinox, in 1976 the sun stood in Pisces and in the time of Christ it was in Aries. The ancient Sumerian calendar had five-day weeks or 72 x 5 = 360 days per year. But 360 x 72 = 25,920.
The integer 1200 represents the sum of the years in India for a cosmic cycle. Now
1200 x 201 = 241,200
1200 x 380 = 456,000
1200 x 360 = 432,000
These numbers correspond to the Sumerian tablet list of ten kings who ruled for a total of 456,00 years, a second tablet which lists only eight of these kings with a total of 241,200 years, and Berossos' list.
The Book of Genesis lists ten patriarchs from Adam to Noah and the Flood totalling 1656 years. In the Jewish calendar one year is 365 days. In 23 years plus 5 leap year days we have 8400 days or 1200 seven-day weeks. If we multiply 1200 x 72 we get 86,400 or the number of Jewish seven-day weeks in 1656 (23 x 72) years. Since the Babylonian calendar year was composed of 72 five-day weeks, then in 432,000 days there are 86,400 Babylonian five-day weeks. Then in 432,000 days there are 86,400 Babylonian five-day weeks (432,000/5). Thus the Bible concurs with the other lists as well.
The earth's axis wobble that causes the precession of the equinoxes is given as 25,920 years. Divided by the ancient number called "soss," 60, which was used in calculations, results in 432.
The Greek Ages also bear a close correspondence to the four Yugas of the Hindus: Krita-Yuga, Treta-Yuga, Dvapara-Yuga, and Kali-Yuga. Their method of calculation is described by Ullamudeian as follows:
"In each of the 12 signs there are 1800 minutes; multiply this number by 12 you have 21600; e.g. 1800 X 12=21600. Multiply this 21600 by 80 and it will give 1,728,000, which is the duration of the first age, called Krita-Yuga."
If the same number be multiplied by 60, it will give 1,296,000, the years of the second age, Treta-Yuga. The same number multiplied by 40 gives 864,000, the length of the third age, Dvapara-Yuga. The same multiplied by 20 gives 432,000, the fourth age, Kali-Yuga." (It will be noted that these multipliers decrease in inverse ratio to the Pythagorean tetractys: 1, 2, 3, and 4.)

Which is why when we divide the Great Pyramid's hieght of 481 ft by 2.7, we get 177.25, the Square root of Pi, divided by 100, which multiplied by two gives us 354, the exact number of days in 12 Lunar Months. These same measurements are found in Teotihuacan, which has the exact same footprint dimensions.

One day I was going down a few rabbit holes and discovered that the US embassy in Iraq was at the time (possibly still is) the largest embassy in the world. They weren't exactly handing out visas and passports... but they were using "diplomatic mail" as a means for exporting large shipments. I had the same experience Jimmy. I was in the AF from 2011-2014, deployed to Bagram on a security detail in 2013. After getting out I wanted to really know why we were over there in the middle east and why people had to die for seemingly no reason to me. I found out the truth and realized the lies told to us and then the lengths they went to, to cover it all up. You'll never go back to sleep after knowing the truth. As a future museology technician (someone who works with artefacts in museums), I can tell you that artefacts don't just sit in dusty boxes being forgotten. Museums usually have huge reserves where they keep artefacts in excellent ambiant conditions to prevent them from degrading. They can be consulted by scholars if need be and if those artefacts are in good conditions themselves, can even be exhibited once an artefact on display needs rest. Because NO, the artefacts on display don't stay on display forever! They need rest if we want to preserve them for future generations! So museum curators rotate the artefacts! So yes, maybe only 1% of a collection can be on display at a certain time, but be certain that the rest is not just forgotten about
