In the Japanese Beastwars the green and purple tank is named Megastorm and is the little brother of Galvatron... strange concept.

Yeah, they're like 90% the same, it's just that Megastorm has olive camo instead of purple and this weird black pattern on his face that makes him look like he's got Guyliner on. Beast Wars II was in part a way for Takara to reuse as many molds as possible, many of which had previously been Western-exclusive, and G2 Megs was one of those.
So he's basically also Megatron's little brother

Me too! I stumbled across it on half price at a Canadian Tire. First time I saw Megatron as a tank and I fell in love with the little bugger. Well, after I covered all the green with silver paint. It still has a proud place on my shelf 15 years later. 😊

I... love CW Megatron because I can pick him up, play with him and transform him. After the insane complexity of some of the, it's _refreshing_ for it to be simple.

I remember having the g2 meg when I was very little, I dropped it in a pool and when I fished it out and waited for it to dry the sounds still worked but the voice was hilariously high-pitched from then on.

Tank Megatron will always be better than "Jet Megatron" (TF: Energon, Bayverse 1), "race-car-that-looks-like-a-Batmobile Megatron" (TF: Cybertron), "Helicopter Megatron" (TF: Animated) and "Truck Megatron" (DOTM Megatron). But it feels like the Decepticons have TOO MANY tanks in their Ranks. Blitzwing, Brawl, Bludgeon are all tanks too......

I'm so glad you did this video Thew. I inherited all the G1 stuff as hand-me-downs from my sister. The G2 neon green/purple puncher was truly my first Transformer growing up.
Me and you share a love of G2 Megs, and his amazing colour scheme. This has brought joy to my day Mr Thew.

The lime green and purple beef cake that is G2 Megs was the first transformer I ever owned. Well, the first one that was actually mine. My sister of all people, had a huge G1 collection because she was the older one. She had every one of the releases from the first two years. I still have them in various stages of broken or missing parts and figures, but they are our originals.
I’d love to see a review on the War for Cybertron: Siege Megatron.

Let me tell you, man, that recent IDW-styled Legends-class Megs is probably my favorite Megatron mold ever, especially if you feel like shelling out the extra dough for the silver-painted Takara version. It's small, but has a much more "Megatron" vibe coming off it, and because it's so small, you forgive the simple transformation, plus it also manages a rotating turret without making the elbows look jank. And Targetmaster Chop Shop is a tiny delight. Unfortunately, buying it now will cost more than the Leader Class version.
I picked up the Armada version of Combiner Wars Megatron a while back and I absolutely love him. The weird spindly shoulder joints do bother me, but the rest of the figure is so solid that I can overlook them.

Sidenote, it was a bit weird seeing you with hair again from the PIP shots from older vids lol.
The cannon tip can be used as a claw hand of sorts on the right arm. There's a small peg that fits the cannon tip where the hand should be.
One thing I remember about that version of Megatron is that his tank mode came from a G.I. Joe vs Transformers crossover. That big purple cannon was supposed to be a railgun that was to replace is old cannon with.

To be fair you can sort of get a hand on the classics by folding the turret into a thumbmand rotating the claw shield thing. That whole thing is hinged so you can do a lot with it.Also that mold is the only one to have the turret turn into arms but still aloow the whole thing to rotate and also have up/down on the turret.
I LOVE the Generations Selects Earthrise G2 Megatron, as he has so much 1990s callback going on it is awesome.
Hero Megatron was my first Megatron, it was nice to hear someone be so kind to him. I'm think he's an underrated toy.

My classics Megatron is sadly missing his little bit off the end of his gun, and the matching Optimus only has one smokestack, but he's still awesome on my shelf. lol And for as cheap as I got them second hand, I think I can live with it. lol
I had a G2 Megatron as a kid; that cannon had enough power to stick toothpicks to the wall from meters away.
Titans Return Megatron got a G2 Archforce repaint from Takara. According to the pack in manga, the titan master is actually Beast Wars Megatron reprogrammed by Cobra Commander...

this video made me realize that megatron was a jet from energon through prime! (+ car in cybertron) Could've sworm there were more tank-trons.
There were, in the Bayverse films, IDW comics and the Fall/War video games.
I think we really need some TF media be it movie/cartoon/comic or other that uses Megs as a tank for an alt mode and makes it iconic, interesting and powerful. It just feels as though we get push tank toys but are yet to see some really good tank media to sell us on the concept, it seems like a great opportunity but megatron so rarely in comics/cartoons ever has a need for an alt mode/uses it.
You forgot about War for Cybertron Megs. It's a space hover tank tank but it's still a tank. A bad one. Robot mode is amazeballs though.

I have the KO of this, with the KO Upgrade kit, its awesome. That same company, KBB is doing an all black version, might ne up your alley!

Honestly I *like* the "Combiner Wars" Megatron better than the other versions, I think having his robot mode look like the classic G1 Megatron and having *actual working tank treads* are both great features. Could use a little more fine-tuning but honestly a far better concept than just being a gun, and better execution than older models.
Oh God I remember that watch thing that came with G2 Megs. I wonder whatever happened to it.

Reason why we have so many tank modes fir megatron. Which I like because..... think about it why a evil villain turn to a German pistol. While he can turn to a badass tank

if you didn't know this already combiner wars megatron has an unofficial somewhat forced gun mode,
start in robot mode
flip the feet up
bend the legs back as far as they can or enough to make a handle
transform the arms into a turret
set the crotch plate against the back of the turret
move the kibble chunk up against the back of megatons head
set the chest plate parallel to the gun barrel
if needed untab the knees so the legs can be set flush against one another
you should have something that resembles a gun
You gotta do an updated one of these! Hell, ever have a slow new stuff period, there's probably a hundred you could revisit, but there's a couple ya should. Maybe when dragatron drops?

Makes me yearn for an updated MP Megs in scale with MP 10 and beyond.
The new Titans return Megatron will be a tank and a jet so I'm happy. Especially now that I have Galvatron, I will finally have a Megatron that is in scale with Galvatron.
kinda feel like i've already seen reviews of three of the five tanks on offer here from you already man but a look at archforce was neat and i kinda feel the same about the CW leader, albeit a bit worse to the degree that i could never buy it for £50. you didn't mention how united archforce fixes the backwards feet from the 06 classics one. bring on a review of armada megs!

G1 color scheme, awesome headsculpt, impressive stature for a deluxe and a HUMONGO cannon?
The g2 megatron watch was an exclusive to the UK/Australia I believe, I have one sealed on its card for an odd fucking reason. In maybe 1995? when it came out there was no new toys in the pipeline really, beast wars was yet to drop and collectors through all their cash at any weird shit that could find. A sealed megatron watch would fetch 70-120US on the internet market, I bought a few on sale at the local supermarket and kept them knowing they were an incredible sound investment, sure to make me a pile of benjamins as their rarity ever increases. Yeah, a few years went by and prices dropped, no one has given a shit since but I still have in a little special box waiting for him to bear fruit.
