Agree with all you say about the consistency, heat, naming; oh, and the price is very high. That said, I'm addicted to this stuff. All that funk and aftertaste, etc. really does it for me with some fish dishes I regularly make. I get all the vinegar flavors as well, and maybe it's just a cheap trick. When I try to make a vinegar laden hot sauce here at home, I can't get quite the same je nee sais quoi that this brings. Am I changed, only in the wallet book, but it's some curious stuff to keep me coming back for more.
I literally had to google "red clay hot sauce is terrible" to figure out if I was crazy or if it truly is a garbage product. Glad to see I'm not alone. :)
Tried it for the first time last night. Agree, it's like straight vinegar. No heat at all. Watching the founders video i saw they had a seafood restaurant. I can see this on like oysters maybe. Not a hot sauce for people that enjoy even a tinge of hotness. If First We Feast had a thousand wing line-up...this still wouldn't make the cut.
I honestly have no idea how the same sauce I recently discovered, enjoy immensely, and intrigued by it's unique flavor, has inspired such hate. I have only had the Habanero and the green sauce and I am obsessed with the habanero sauce. I am on a quest to find out what I enjoy about it and where I can get more. The quest that led me here. I don't understand how I can enjoy it SO much and you hate it. Maybe there was something off with the batch you got. I think you should give it another try, and my quest continues.

I agree. I tried this crap and it’s complete garbage. I ended up putting Tabasco on my food just for flavor

Yeah wasnt great, but the habenero did have some of the habeneros floral notes come out. Having vinegar and water as a base was the cardinal sin

stuff is not great, I gave it away. tia lupita is my current go to, definitely try it out if you haven't already.
