    This series was absolutely brilliant indeed. The dialogue was so very clever and huge kudos would go to the script writers and the actors for the way in which they carried it all through. I don't think there has been a TV series ever that was as clever and funny as this one was. It is only the British who could have carried this out so magnificently.

      Actually it goes further back, way to the pilot episode in 1979, where Prime Minister Jim Callaghan gave permission for Yes Minister to show Hacker entering Number 10 when he was appointed Minister for Administrative Affairs. Reason was that Bernard Donohue a Labour Party adviser was friends with the writers and he gained permission from Jim Callaghan. Thatcher loved the show and she continued to extend the offer to use the location when needed.

    • @arturs2436
      @arturs2436 Год назад

      @@johnking5174 Well far i heard she gave express permission for that section to be taped. If that had been allowed previously,. What MT did was a renovation. Plus if you look around in here you will find a sketch of Margaret Tatcher, James Hacker and Humphrey Appleby like has they were on a cabinet meeting, this happening during"Yes Minister" in 1984. The script of that special sketch was written by her.

    • @johnking5174

      @@arturs2436 Yes, let me just clarify. The 1979 pilot episode was filmed before the 1979 general election. During production, permission was granted by the then Prime Minister Jim Callaghan to allow them to quickly film in 10 Downing Street. Then when Thatcher came to power, show loved the show even more. When Yes Prime Minister was being planned she gave the production team permission not only to film in Downing Street, but also the production team got a tour around the inside of Downing Street, they saw the cabinet room, Prime Minister's office etc. They were told they had permission to recreate these interiors for the show, however they MUST change the layout of the corridors and some of the rooms for security reasons, which the production agreed to.

    9:31 I always wondered about that in Social Security, even as a kid when I first heard about it, it never made sense how it was sustainable indefinitely.

    • @BlackPill-pu4vi
      @BlackPill-pu4vi Год назад +2

      In its original construction, Social Security was most certainly sustainable. What threw it out of balance was when LBJ merged the FICA tax revenue into the general budget AND expanded the beneficiaries without them having to contribute to the system. Furthermore, the Social Security Wage Base is capped at roughly $160K in 2023. That means all income up to that limit is subject to FICA taxes. After that, the fat cats run free. That means it is REGRESSIVE TAXATION.
      One good way to fix SS is to remove the Wage Base cap and begin creating a floor on the bottom end of the base where meager incomes are taxed at a very low rate i.e. 1%. Just enough for admin cost and to ensure that everybody has skin in the game.
