Big ups to Queen Rita. Strong woman to be able to deal with her own children as well as King Marley's other kids outside of their marriage. And, to know they all treat each other with respect and get along is truly a testament to Rita. Blessings.

Why do ppl get so down on C? Always calling her bitter. Yes the world loves Bob marley but that was her daddy. I lost my father at 14 and you always hear stories from ppl about him and it's nice but you wish you had your own stories to tell. She had to share her father with 11 other kids by multi women. She had to see her mother hurt by it all but still love Bob and help him spread his message. Can you imagine as a young girl one after another kid showing up taking another piece of her father away from her. Hearing countless ppl tell you things about your own father you never got to know. Give the woman a break.

What woman wouldn't be bitter after seeing their mom be disrespected like that? And having to "share" her dad with the whole world? For all intents & purposes, he was an absentee father once he became famous. So of course she's going to feel angry & hurt, especially seeing how Rita was treated. I found her parts of the film refreshingly honest.
Its not like Bob just disappeared and never cared about his children. He worked hard to make sure they had a much better life than he did. He grew up dirt poor. Thanks to his sacrifices his children had a solid foundation from which to build something for themselves. Rita also cheated on Bob while they were married. She was not a saint either.

Love these girls! Cedella is the most blunt & honest person in the movie. She grew up with her mother, seeing firsthand what she went through so I don't blame her one bit for her viewpoint. She has as much right to tell her story as any of the others. Honestly, not many women would've put up with Bob's "lifestyle".

@@ub6928 After he had about 5 kids outside and ignored her not coming home at night. Then for 2 months he ran off with Esther got tired of her and came back. Left again with other young girls from uptown or USA. Had another girl coming from Africa some sort of so called princess flying to Jamaica with a huge entourage to see him. Having girls in hotel room next her room please read her autobiography! He had Cindy calling him darling in front of Rita. She was taking care of the kids 99% of the time and he kept bringing home his other kids by other women that she took care of. She is AMAZING I could not do it!

It really pisses me off when European descendant interviewers interview Black People and want to focus on the negative aspects of Black culture because that’s all they associate Blacks with.
“How was it with your father not being in your life?”

When they were interview Elvis’, John Lennon’s, or Mick Jagger’s kids they always praise their parents and speak about their accomplishments - with questions like “Is it hard to live up to their greatness?” with that being the center of the questions. And all of those dudes were sleeping around, using drugs, and who knows what else.
Yes and then -oh 11 children and 7 baby mamas " wtf does that have to do with anything- all those saw were their Brothers and Sisters- Rita made sure all of those kids knew each other- Cedella was low key handling her- you could tell she wanted to really read her

Since I was born. I was always a bob Marley fan. Since like real young four maybe five. He made me know love and I mean love for ppl good and bad. He gave me the most pure insight into this worl. As I grew he grew me. Not my dad. Just him he was my hero. Since I was an August child him and m. Gravy. I wanted to be his son. No lie I wanted to be a Marley like nothing more I smoke when I was young growing up in Kingston I felt I was a king like my imagination father but real. He did so early his spirit grew me up in his song. When I left Jamaica he kept raising me. I my dream is to design and create for the Marley brand and keeping his spirit alive theirs no other ppl than his family I would rather work and learn beside in keeping his spirit alive.. rip dadda..gong fi ever
Their accent is NOT gone, just hidden. They can speak perfect Jamaican patois if they want to. So, why did they hide their accent? LOL. Maybe they felt more comfortable speaking in the hybrid Jamaican-American accent and since they spent a considerable time in the States.
Don't knock them for it. They are still beautiful Jamaican women who are ROYALTY in the music world.
I think Karen grew up in America so she has acquired an American accent.Cedella is also based in America as well.Yet they all are very proud Jamaicans.

+Gavin Scott Hmmm, they sound pretty legit to me though, sounds like theyre more rooted with their American demeanor, accent and all.. you can feel the fluidity as they go, no peculiar trips nor stumbles.. yeah, Cadella has a veeeeeeery slight, teeny weeny ounce of dialect though not necessarily supressed, just a natural un-doctored blend.
Oh yeah --> Dialect not Patois.. from my limited education, I think Patois would be the Creole/French based mash up lingo predominantly spawn from the Francophone Islands.

Actually Cedella is originally from Jamaica but now lives in Miami. The brothers don't usually talk patwa in the interviews they just have strong Jamaican accent, real patwa would be harder to understand, I think you should be asking why they don't have Jamaican accents. Check out Kymani's interviews he also has an american accent in some of the interviews.
People don't understand West Indian culture. We live history through slavery and the diaspora. Others read what was written which is from white people's perspective. When you stand with your history behind you, you become a living resource book of power and truth. Couple that with a belief in a Higher Power and they will stand in awe of you.
Some people don't get that a Jamaican speaking English with a Jamaican accent isn't patois 😂 If we spoke the real patois, they wouldn't understand

That was a weird ending of the interview... as though someone walked into the room and said the time was up. With the image of Bob Marley to the right of the screen, you can see that Cedella looks just like him.

Rahymn Lukwaggo Bob Marley oldest daughter, born when he was a teenager. I am sure if you google her name you will find out she is listed as his child and a part of his estate, but is never seen. Lives out of the limelight, which is her choice. Just wondered why brothers and sisters never mentioned her as a sibling.

It's interesting how Stephen and Ziggy have thick accents but Cedella's is almost non-existent. I know they were all raised together but I guess it depends on each person when accents disappear. Still she's one lovely woman.

When she said 9 she was stating bob’s biological children only. He adopted 2 of Rita’s children that wasn’t biologically his. 3 girls and 6 boys.
I was wondering what she meant by 9. She could’ve meant it as in A) Bob has 9 biological children & adopted Rita’s other 2 children. Or B) Bob has 9 biological children & the other two aren’t his. The other two are Makeda & Imani. For some reason, some of the Marley’s deny them, even though they really are his kids. So when she said “11 is a rumor”, I think that’s her denying Makeda & Imani are Marley’s

Cedella seams to have daddy issues. I definitely can understand why. Bob was very loose and to be in your 30 with 12 children and 6 baby mothers and a wife is crazy. There is no way all of those children spent proper time with him. He was too busy making music and sleeping around with women.

I know enough people who speak very refined American English but amongst their own it's a strong patwa. It happens often enough, no biggie.

I find it very interesting that all of Bob Marley's children with Rita have a beautiful and noticeable Jamaica accent.
Whilst, Cedella sounds as though she has practiced speaking in what sounds like a fake American accent, WHY??
Especially when you consider that she is the oldest and therefore, would have been surrounded by and spent longer living amongst Jamaican people.
In my opinion there's no sweeter sounding accent than that of an authentic Jamaican, and no matter how long I have lived outside of the beautiful island of Jamaica. I would work hard to preserve my accent rather than trying to loose it. My parents and grand parents spent over 50 yrs living in the U.K but their accent remains present even if there is subtle changes.

People act as if everyone knows about Jamaica and Jamaicans...Cedella has spent time in the States but like everywhere else there are different elements to Jamaica and people speak different depending on where they come from in JA, who the associate with and how they see themselves.

#Tailor Moten, She did know her father personally, he was her father, and when he was dying, he was always surrounded by others and she didn't get the chance to have quality time with him. She didn't sound bitter, just sad about how things went and honest about her feelings. I think these are human feelings. She lost him when she was a teen.
@MelodizeYourLife I think Rita meant the white in Bob made him weak when she talked about his cancer! Almost only white people get skincancer, as the melanine in the skin is a natural protector for skin cancer. That is just a fact
MelodizeLife i don’t think it was meant to be “racism” it’s more in the perspective that when you’re in a predominantly black area like Jamaica in the early 40s and 50s where being biracial wasn’t much of a thing yet, he struggled with being called a white boy when his peers were all black, yet at the same time there was little to no acceptance from his dad’s family. There are so many layers to race than just assuming someone is trying to be bitter toward the other, it’s a reality that no one is color blind and ppl do see color and it affects them differently. And that lack of acceptance did lead bob to be such a positive peace driven role model. But It could also be in the context that the cancer was from his dad’s side of the family and Bc of Jamaican lingo u took her words as something that she didn’t mean with the level of intensity you probably assumed.
